Not if I’m on it. -
All the magazines have de-emphasized the photography over the decades as well. DCTF in the 70s was crammed with action photos, both in review and preview. Now they are pretty scant. And that's a bit weird considering how much cheaper the football photos are nowdays, with everybody and his brother being a sports photographer. I guess it takes up too much ad space. But it diminishes the enjoyment of the magazines a lot for me.

Karoline Levitt was just at the podium talking about how much Trump loves Texans. I would have liked to have seen a question from a reporter along the lines of "Are you under the impression that Texas is comprised of 100% republicans? Because Trump made it very clear the other day that he hates all democrats."

10 seconds for that move was excessive, though, especially since there was no warning, as you mentioned. If you're going to penalize him at all, 5 seconds should have been the max. Instead, they gave the race win to Lando.

Some of the bigger names skipped playing. What did we send out? Our B- / C team? What did Mexico send out?

I think everyone gets the idea of summer camp but didn't experience it themselves. Meatballs was a favorite movie of mine when I was a kid. However my parents sending me to camp? Nah. I don't think they really cared what I did during the summer. Typical Gen X neglect. But knowing myself, if my parents had asked me if I wanted to go to camp, I would have said no.

That is a lucid, well-thought, intelligent objection. Post less. Upon release, 15 years ago, the main criticism of the movie from some movie goers and critics was that it was confusing and lacked emotional depth. Now, because people have analyzed it and watched it online with subtitles it has too much exposition. So, which is it? Nolan is not David Lynch. He doesnt have to make it Dark City. It’s not that kind of movie. And it doesnt have to be. I guess the analogy of your criticism of Hans Zimmer and Nolan is like criticism of Led Zeppelin by punk artists of the 70’s. Hey its too good. The singer is too this. The drum solo is too this. Whats the point except that other artists should be able to do other things?

But politicizing this is bad in the eyes of our overlords, while this was directly caused by county leadership politicizing a fucking disaster warning system TWICE

They very literally turned down getting a flood alert system in place in 2015 because the funds would have come from the Obama administration. City of Kerrville leadership CHOSE to not have alert system. Below is the transcript from that meeting: Mr. Hewitt: Sirens did not seem to get very much support. The thought was that sirens are better for tourists than local residents. The sirens would only be beneficial for someone that's not familiar with the area, and wouldn't know what to do. .... COMMISSIONER MOSER: The cost of that whole thing is going to be like 976 thousand dollars. That's a lot of money. All of it, and the reason we're here today and moving so quickly is that there is a FEMA grant that's available until as long as we apply by January the 20th. JUDGE POLLARD: Which is when President Obama goes out of office. (Laughter.) JUDGE POLLARD: Well, the reason I mention that is because he authorized this particular thing, and it's going to -- MS. KIRBY: It's a coincidence. COMMISSIONER MOSER: Going on the record with that it's a coincidence. And so there has to be a presidential declaration of disaster to be able to have these kinds of funds available. So it goes away just so happens to be when he leaves office. ... COMMISSIONER REEVES: And I will say and, Sheriff, you can correct me if I'm off base on this, the camps have had a very good system of letting down river if there's a rise, they're phoning their competitors or colleagues down river and letting them know what happened. It's informal as you said, but it's been a very good system to let them know over time. more good links to the meeting minutes in the link below in the spoiler. They also turned down an ARPA grant in 2021 because it came from the wrong color president and they were being crazy about COVID. We're all getting the Texas that we voted for. And it is a Texas that doesn't give a shit about dead children.

It's so classy when someone makes you do it. You're applying the standard expectation of a four year old to a high school senior, and "wasn't cool" is soft-playing what he did which was very "intentional". -
if I WAS a juror and it involved anyone who spams/ rips people off; the prosecution would have to royally fuck up to not win that verdict. But I don't believe in unicorns or bigfoot either...

Maybe it's different for you, but I always speak highly of my alma maters (Texas and UChicago) to my kids. They may choose other schools, but they are not going to disrespect them. -

Those camps are definitely like the greek system tailored to kids. They do a great job of providing coming-of-age experiences and connectivity for the next generation of Texas bankers, businessmen, socialites, politicians, etc... And the families of means looking to move into those circles. You can view that as cynically as you want, but the last names of campers there read like a list of surnames of those with power and influence inside the state of Texas. Cost insures its exclusivity. This is one reason I don't think this will all be hand waved away like Uvalde. When people with last names like Hunt or Kroenke or Kerr have questions, they will get answers. I come from some privilege and went to La Junta for 4 summers in the late 70s/early 80s, and it was an absolute blast. For me personally, it was a great growth opportunity and I got a shit ton of confidence out of the experiences. I never parleyed it into any sort of adult status, I spent most of my 20s ripping the silver spoon from my mouth, but for those lucky/connected enough to go, they are better for the experiences they had at these camps.

Watching a press conference from the WH at the car dealership waiting to get my car. The WH official position is that the NWS did its job. Per the WH the NWS provided early, timely and consistent warnings in advance of the catastrophe. they are not blaming the NWS which is something I have seen many people do online. A lot. Everyone knows my position that this was a local failure and a state failure and messed up 100 year old mentality whereby camps upriver were supposed to warn the camps downriver of impending doom, in a county who depends on these camps and dollars from them and tourists…unconscionable. I’m not defending the WH I am saying that is what their official position is that the NWS did its job. just paraphrasing what I am hearing sitting in the dealership waiting room.
