  4. Exactly. When Reagan and Rev Falwell got on stage together and married Republican Party + Religious Fanaticism, I knew it was BIG TROUBLE if they ever got in power. -- Most everyone I knew thought I was nuts (after all, "Reagan is against Big Govt" etc) ... yet, a few artsy-fartsy and Philosophy department friends agreed. Now they are in near total power, taking us back before fascism into medieval era barbarism .... and the media still enable, normalize and gaslight. Hell, I was passing through Dallas this summer with a friend and we met two UT friends (who are card-carrying Liberals) for some Tex-Mex and margaritas.... and they are still in denial about how about bad this will get. Freakin' Liberals in denial. Gonna have to get a lot worse for most Americans to realize how bad this will become. Then it will be too late.
  5. That fight was awesome. Even more with the ubiquitous post-fight pleading by a member of the crowd, "come on, n...., come on, n...." The next game folks in the stands will be filming them.

  9. First I’m hearing about it. This is another reason why it’s always a good idea to cite a source. You can reach a wider audience that way. Now your post is just seen and immediately forgotten.
  10. Just started watching this show finally, just finished Season 2. What a tremendous show, holy shit. I grew up in South Bend IN so was in Chicago a lot as a kid, very authentic capture of the place.
  11. Series focuses on Buerlein starting instead of Aikman, but makes zero mention of Steve Walsh during Aikman's rookie year. There were times when I wondered if Aikman was staying on the team/ would remain the starter, and he was the franchise guy. Jimmy did not like ole TRoy, LOL. I did like it that it was discussed, at least by Aikman, that he wasn't "rah-rah" enough for Jimmy. All I remember was TRoy getting the living shit kicked out of him those first 2 seasons. That OL was bad!!! They also said Landry flew fighter planes. He was a B-17 pilot. It also feels like a Jerry Jones commercial as much as anything else. The nuggets from everyone else keep it going, but enough with Mr Talky-talky, for crise-sake.

  14. Not in my house, but in extended family, a mom left phone on counter while exercising. Adult aged, extremely emotionally immature daughter accessed phone and read all texts and messages. Wanted to talk shit afterwards. The mom had conversations not meant for the daughter in the texts, but of course the young un was pissed about some critical comments. Also noted, following the weekend visit, many drawers were "ajar" and not seated fully in the dressers and cabinets. There are multiple journals kept that were moved/ rummaged through. Mom is more crushed by the destruction of her trust by the daughter, than any "secrets" that got out. 1. I wouldn't have engaged in any subsequent conversations related to the phone; but then again, I'm the dude who won't even open his wife's purse, much less go looking through her phone. 2. I'm the guy who would gripe about someone putting pliers back in the wrong drawer- things go where they go, and folks know I will notice. I would accept said behavior as a statement that they don't want a relationship any more. I would be pissed/ disappointed, but would never trust them again.

  18. I was watching DC the day this all happened, assuming they - as a highly Democrat, minority city - would instantly be in the streets. They weren't. I'd like to think my equally blue city would act differently, but I no longer know. I love my city and state dearly - its natural beauty, its long-established tolerance towards all, its "Japan-dinavian" sense of social equality and sensibility, held dear for decades, its model - though still short of what it could be - of success and prosperity. I have considered and taken many of the requisite steps towards overseas residency, starting the process years ago. This was not done for political reasons but out of a sense of adventure and experiencing things from a different perspective. Right now, I want to stay in my state and fight for all of us to have what we have here. But... when the day comes that the military becomes part of our police force and we just shrug, I'm off to Portugal, this time wondering if I'll ever get to return. You have no idea how badly I feel for you, my Texan friends.

  22. Not sure where this post should be. But it references "food". Please move if needed. Sometime in the late 1970s or early 80s my siblings and cousins were hunting Easter Eggs at my grandmother's house. She had a chain link fence around her yard. Someone had the bright idea to remove one of the caps on the anchor posts for the gate and hide an egg in the pipe. The problem was that, for one, who would look inside a fence posts for an egg, and two, the egg dropped too far down to be retrieved. My grandmother passed away in 1986 during my sophomore year at UT. That is the date that I am using to try to determine the timeframe. After my grandmother's passing the house was sold. I have always wondered what became of that egg. A couple of weeks ago my fiancee and I were driving through the town where my grandmother used to live and I was telling her about the egg. I told her that I wanted to drive by her old house to see if the egg was still there. Remember, I have not been to her house since the Spring of 86. We pull up to the house and I walk up to the gate and remove the cap. The egg was still in there! I was shocked. Seeing that egg in there brought back tons of memories of playing in her yard and remembering all of the aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives that have since passed. Last week my mother turned 80 and we had a celebration for her. Naturally there were relatives there that were present at the Easter Egg hunt when the egg was placed in the post. I showed them the picture of the egg and they were amazed as well. There are just a handful of us left that remember the egg. I just hope that the present homeowners never have a reason to disturb it.

  24. Yep told family that recently and told them we are lucky the family crossed in 1932 and decided Abilene needed cotton pickers, that was different though. We still had our family reunions at the cotton gin as some pride point for a long time. Luckily we got them to stop that shit around 2008 but we also stop seeing the family as much without that reunion
