Government Shutdown 2025: This Time It’s Personal
LCHorn replied to Bozo_Casanova's topic in Cloak Room
I hope this is true, but I’ll note there was the same push for free preventative care back when the Clinton’s introduced their healthcare plan in 1993, some of which was codified under the ACA, and it’s confounded economists that there wasn’t more evidence of savings as a result. Not entirely surprising, but it appears the GLP-1 drugs have the same kind of use/diet pattern as other reduced calorie treatments (I.e., cessation of use results in the the patient putting weight back on). That matters from a cost of treatment perspective since it’s basically a lifetime commitment for many. -

Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen

Recruiting: Coaches on the road; 5-star visit update (Thurs. 5:30am CT) By Gerry Hamilton Recruiting: Coaches on the road; 5-star visit update Members of the Texas staff will be on the road starting today. Stops include LSU 4-star+ OT commit Brysten Martinez, 4-star defensive line commit Corey Wells, 4-star+ defensive line commit Vodney Cleveland various stops in the Lone Star State and likely a coach in the Sunshine State. OTF dives into the latest on the recruiting trail as the coaches begin their stops for the week. November 22-23 visitor list ... 5-star Richard Anderson, DL, New Orleans, La./Edna Karr - *LSU commit (maybe/likely) There were reports of Anderson possibly visiting for the Texas A&M game. That is not what OTF was told Wednesday night. It's the Arkansas game weekend that Texas is targeting, and had discussions about with Anderson and his circle yesterday. There is some pressure from those around LSU NIL to not make any visits. Texas coaches are expected by the school Friday. 4-star+ Brysten Martinez, OT, Gonzales, La./East Ascension - *LSU commit Texas had a very successful unofficial visit last weekend, and now are expected to receive and OV. Who and when LSU makes their hire looms large here. 4-star+ Dre Quinn, EDGE, Buford, Ga./High - Ohio State or Texas decision expected by the 6-4, 230-pounder. The Buckeyes may have the slight momentum edge currently. 3-star++ Toray Davis, DB, Boulder, Colo./Fairview - Washington very much in it after a recent OV. November 22-23 will be a first visit to Texas. Defensive line recruiting ... Four junior college prospects are being evaluated. Two at defensive tackle, and two at edge. More on that in the coming days. Texas continues to recruit 4-star+ DL and Florida pledge Kendall Guervil (Fort Myers, Fla./High). This is the first week that Guervil has been a little more shaky about coming in for a visit. Florida collective applying a lot of pressure right now to stick. Texas would accept a flip commitment from 4-star EDGE and Baylor pledge Jamarion Carlton (Temple, Texas/High). Texas is also staying in contact with 5-star LSU EDGE commit Trenton Henderson (Pensacola, Fla./Pine Forest). -
Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - Full Roster Weaponization
MuellerHorn replied to closetojumping's topic in 🤫$9.95🤫
Relevant to this discussion: Thursday By Bobby Burton While the focus for many fans rightly remains on the rest of the Longhorns’ regular season, behind the scenes is a different story for much of the Texas staff. Steve Sarkisian and his personnel team are prepping diligently for next spring and the 2026 season from a roster construction standpoint. Gerry Hamilton wrote this morning about a number of potential high school prospects (and possibly a junior college player or two, as well). While adding new talent to the mix is always important, it is far from the only moving roster piece currently receiving major attention of the Longhorns’ coaches. There is the 1) retention and 2) attrition of current players on the roster to be concerned with. And then there are 3) potential additions via the transfer portal. Texas is working on all three aspects, plus 4) high school recruiting. We hear a lot about high school recruiting, but not much about the current roster. That is by design during the football season. No one wants to take away the focus on the season itself. So Brandon Harris and the personnel staff are like ducks swimming in a pond right now. Things may appear calm, cool and collected above water, but beneath the surface, they’re paddling as fast and efficiently as they can. To this point, outside of a couple of players, like Jerrick Gibson and Will Stone, no other current Longhorn has announced a decision to enter the transfer portal. Surely there will be more attrition. But who and how much? That’s what no one, including Texas or even the current players, knows for sure. Perhaps the biggest factor lording over the situation is the new revenue sharing limits. For many teams across the NCAA, that will mean more money to distribute to rosters. For some, like Texas, it might mean less than previous years. And that will be the most interesting aspect of the off-season. How do the new revenue sharing rules and limits effect roster construction? Will it hurt a team’s depth? After all, a second teamer at Georgia could be a starter at Maryland. Will it change the personnel focus from high school recruiting to player retention? How do you best combine all of those four aspects to create not only the best team for 2026 but the best program for the long haul? We don’t have the all the answers quite yet. No one does IMO. So I get the distinct feeling that this may be the most interesting off-season in college football ever. Prepare yourself for it now, just like the Texas personnel staff is already behind the scenes. I think it’s going to be wild. -

I think it’s less about the cost and more about the prestige. This is one thing a podcaster I follow says - the international rich love sending their kids here before college because it’s their flex back home. Tell your undergrad kids to be friends with all the international kids because they’re usually pretty smart and very rich, so they party. But this was my thought too. Of course there were international phones there - INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS. This could be something, but I seriously doubt it. And Candice - “Kash Patel knows this” isn’t the flex you think it is. -
Whoever the hitting coach is, you still can't throw Altuve a first pitch fastball anywhere within a foot of the zone.
