  1. Past hour
  2. I'm a fan of the Rhoback Texas Polos.
  3. Also, adding to what's been said before, I know a number of people whose judgment I respect that think the Eastlands are/were very good people. Not just nostalgic campers. And, while I think at least initially being a camp director is a labor of love, there's quite a bit of evidence that this has become a big, profitable business over the last 30-40 years and there was some greedheading going on. So, I think it is quite unclear whether the disregard of the flood risk was complacency bred of familiarity or the result of greed and arrogance. I suppose the line is fine.
  4. Which won’t be until he’s in the NFL
  5. I've had that same thought several times. But I don't remember flooding that summer, just constant rain.
  6. At 4am KWTX was reporting north of 12” since 10pm in the Lometa area
  7. More rainfall because of greenhouse gases? Sounds like a woke Chinese conspiracy to me!
  8. Of Note: As you've probably heard, today a slow-moving front (unusual for July) is teaming with Gulf moisture to form a slow-moving line of heavy rain from NW→SE. Right now northern Hill Country is getting hammered - some parts of San Saba/Lampasas Cos. have gotten over 6" of rain since midnight. This is all moving SE and unfortunately should affect the Kerr/Upper Guadalupe area later this morning/early afternoon. I don't think any floods will be huge/catastrophic (can it be anyway after last week? How much more is "catastrophic?"), but could cause evacs and issues. ATX will also get a good amount of rain out of this it looks like - easily 2" upward and more in some spots until this passes through. Very possible that main streams/creeks (Shoal? Onion?) and low-lying areas could see some flash and/or minor flooding. Be alert today. NWS has had flood watches posted since early Sat. a.m. for this, now a series of flash flood warnings for upper Hill Country, will almost certainly be extended this way (unfortunately) if rain keeps up. It could lessen by the time it hits over ATX but with all the moisture in our ground/air I don't think so. I haven't had time to look at the weather background, but this is a July reminiscent of 2007. The big summer highs have stayed away - it's possible the huge tropical situation we've had the last 2 weeks has and will impact our weather more this summer. The mid-upper air patterns aren't typical for us, but why/how long, if I look through it I might get a better idea. Like I said, although this front is "cool" (i.e. not changing temps much) it's still a front in July, so that's not usual. Two-week outlook calls for rain to stop and July to come back (hot dry) but that was supposed to happen now - and well, it's not at least this weekend, another "slight" rain forecast expanding to "heavy rain". But it happens. Meantime, heed warnings, watches.
  9. I had the NFL ones and my boys had the dinosaur ones
  10. Why are y'all arguing about made up bullshit in the first place?
  11. Kerrville and that area are going through it right now and so maybe their politics keeps you from moving there, that's your bad, not theirs. Basing your whereabouts on your neighbor's political views is taxing and is unnecessary. I move around year to year, mostly small city's and big towns (how do we classify this?) El Paso, New Braunsfels, Galveston, San Antonio, Austin and am currently in Uvalde. Every place has been great and every place has their shit you deal with. Out of all of them, id say Uvalde has been my favorite, and that as we know is my personal preference. I'd live in Kerrville, Hunt, Kerr County in a drop of a hat. If the company I l work for said we need you in Kerrville, id say it better be for more than a year! Outside of the metro areas, its all conservative and there's a reason for that. Im sure some are militant, as you describe wanting to avoid, but 97% are not. Small town living is simple and there's plenty of space.

  13. Yeah, this is bullshit. There are 19.1 million university students and even more drones in corporate America.
  14. I believe that's correct. And if you are willing to "go naked" on flood insurance, it's fine. Federally backed loans are going to require it, though. I don't imagine much commercial development is federally backed, though. And, while all this shows an awareness of the potential for flood problems, and a disregard of potential risk, there's nothing fundamentally wrong with it, I guess. FEMA can't survey every waterway, they establish floodplains based on historical and statistical data and it makes sense that an aggrieved landowner can do an actual survey and "escape" the floodplain. Now, if we start finding out they played fast and loose with the surveys, that's another kettle of fish entirely.
  15. St. Louis cut yesterday, these were more like a 3-1-1. Kinda wish the meat had a little more pull to it, but everyone raved about them so I’m not going to complain. Flavor-wise, they were one of my better efforts.
  16. I agree with all of what you say. But I think we must disagree about what Andreesen was trying to say. White america hasn't been blocked from access to universities. Someone may not get into their campus of choice but anyone with a heartbeat can attend a decent state university, and a white person blaming black and brown people for failing to get a job or into a career they desire is absurd. He complains about the last 50 years! What happened 50 years ago? The Civil Rights Act. Let me grab my violin for poor Andreesen. What he's airing is white grievance racism and there's no coherent facts that support it. Andreesen himself was gifted research through the NSF while at a state university which led to his becoming wealthy. He was also anti-Trump in 2016. Now he's just another brainwashed magat with a broken brain. He also made his wealth by importing people from India to lead his company. And he does so because white people here generally don't rise to the same level/field of education. I see that as a choice, and certainly not rigging. Now over the past year due to the ai nonsense and high interest rates people are not getting corporate jobs. But that's not limited to white people.
  17. I would be ok with them hitting Garcia every time he comes up, regardless of game situation.
  18. Probably fairly soon. Need to find a window between family and work stuff for a couple months of rehabbing to the point I'd be able to walk decently. Good luck with yours
  19. Funny thing is the community barely recognized him with a tribute just in the last year or two. They kind of shunned him when Manziel wanted Manziel and some other things came out about his move to Kerrville.
  20. Kerrville used to be retirement destination number one when I was growing up for folks from the RGV. Seemed like every business folk my parents knew after they sold their business or put in their notice after 30 years of service was moving to Kerrville or Fredericksburg. This was back in the 80’s. The direction San Antonio is growing it might become more like what Boerne was 20 years ago where folks who wanted to live away from the city but still wanted the small town feel end up. Kind of like Dripping Springs in the Austin area where not too long ago it was out in the sticks. Now the Austin metro area is clearing a lot of those sticks and merging up with Dripping Springs.
  21. Mmm rib. No money shot but these were one of my better efforts.
  22. .....it's wheres. Definitely whores
  23. Why would you put whores in front of the media?

  25. Pretty much how we feel about our small town. Mind your business and don't stick your nose into mine and all is good. Start pushing your agenda in my face and there is gonna be problems. @tejas60, your Surly brothers are proud of ya' for being out there putting in the work. Keep it up.
  26. What’s the best Texas polo these days? I like a basic pique polo ( but the one on the coop website looks like it might be shitty) but am curious about the general consensus.
