  2. A: Ukraine took the gloves off. Similar to Refineries, what exactly Ukraine damaged is important, and very difficult to tell. Refineries >> Pipelines >> Compressor & Pump Stations >> Storage Tanks. The pipelines themselves are buried, and in the pump & compressor stations, most of the lines are buried, so it is difficult to know what was damaged without an idea what was there to begin with. Fluids move through pipes like a water hose, high pressure at one end, low pressure on the other. To fully utilize a long haul pipeline, you add booster stations along the pipeline to boost the pressures and increase the capacity. Gas is compressible, and a compressor is used to increase the pressure in the pipe. Liquids are not compressible, and a pump is used to increase the pressure in the pipeline. The functions between the two are similar in that both pipelines have friction losses (pressure drops), but the mechanics are very different. "Hydraulics" for the lay person, "Fluid Mechanics" for the enlightened ones. The Urengoy Pipeline transports gas from Siberia to Ukraine to Slovakia, some 2800 miles, with 42 compressor stations along the way. They are spaced 60-80 miles apart, depending on the topography, among other things. Blowing up the pipeline is more damaging than blowing up a single booster station. When Ukraine "invaded" Russia earlier this year (last year?), they damaged a gas measurement facility on this pipeline, which caused a bigger accounting issue than an operational one. The pipeline itself has a maximum operating pressure, and the higher the pressure, the higher the volumes moved (throughput). A single midpoint booster station (pumps or compressors) basically doubles the throughput of a pipeline, by increasing the pressure to offset the pressure drop. With the multiple booster stations on a pipeline, you end up with a "saw tooth" pressure profile along the pipeline, with each station boosting the pressure to set point, (MAOP). In the diagram below, with only Station "A" at the beginning of the pipeline, the volumes transported to the Terminal are "X". Adding a midpoint booster at Station "C" would increase the throughput to "2X". Adding Stations "B", "C" and "D" would would increase the throughput to "4X". Any capacity reduction at any one station could be minimized by changing the operating conditions at the stations before and after the affected station, with a minimal decrease in the throughput. Most of Russia's pipelines are operating at much lower volumes due to sanctions, so any longer term interruptions from any one station would be minimal. If the mainlines were also damaged at a station, that is a much different scenario. Large diameter pipeline explosions make nice pictures. A huge fireball that goes full throttle until the pipeline fuel is consumed, with the dynamic effect similar to a large jet engine on afterburner, with a 50 mile long mile tank feeding it. Urengoy Pipeline Explosion Careful, you could put an eye out if you get too close. Crazy eyes. Let me get on, and turn her loose. I can last for 8 seconds. Oh, wait.
  3. Remember, there is no bottom with maga.
  4. Makes sense. Just thought to a recent example of a neighbor moving up there, cashing out their Frisco house and putting a large amount down on a place up there.
  5. My post assumes Stroh will play, because, you know, the coaches keep putting him out there. They also believe in OL continuity. He’s not great, but I’m choosing to be optimistic on his potential. I don’t think Neto is the solution, but as stated I would like to see others get more of an opportunity.
  6. No way he's dumber than Tuberville.
  7. Mittens

    High

    Super helpful.
  8. I came across a link to Napier's press conference and listened to a bit of it. Man he does not exude confidence. Say what you want about Sark's flaws but he is solid in a press conference and that is obvious when you hear some of the other guys. Biggest takeaway from the chunk I listened to is I definitely expect them to take more deep shots this week. Seemed like a point of emphasis.
  9. It would need to be a Jimbo type of stupid guaranteed money. Freeman makes 9 million a year or more at ND. He almost certainly has a longer leash and is dealing with a more pleasant group of boosters and alums. Look at BK, he chased that SEC money and Freeman has been to more CFPs and played for more championships. I think that in the NIL era, ND is one of the best jobs in the sport.
  10. I went to the Savannah Bananas game on Friday night in Houston. After the game, one of the players got on the microphone and talked about how the goal of the Bananas is for all ages and all types of people to come together and have fun. It's genuinely a wonderful idea, yet I looked around me and couldn't help but notice that likely 80%+ of the crowd (and 90%+ of the players) were almost assuredly MAGA and it made it hard to take the message seriously. I don't know how to put Pandora back in her box, but god damnit I hate feeling this way about everything.
  11. Of all people, the Mormon's don't deserve to be shot up at church. Sounds like another PTSD problem.
  12. I keep seeing this message spread around on this board in various spots, but I have yet to see any evidence that's what's happening. It's all very logical, but when a couple blue bloods come open, and are fucking desperate, lets see if they don't end up offering 15 million dollars a year to a commodity that isn't underwhelming to their fanbase. Particularly with about 3 sports agents holding every string for potential coaching candidates in their hands.
  13. Do you know how many foods are shaped like dicks? The best kind.
  14. I play offense and sim to next possession. I don't even punt or kick anymore either.
  15. Venmo assignments emailed out from the ESPN league site. Check your email and send your shit!
  16. So are we doing "Fire Flood" unironically now?
  17. Sun Belt Billy gets Dallas Wilson back from injury this week, so UF is pumped about that. They also expect 2 other WRs to play in Sturdivant and Mizell. Things don't look as positive on the defensive side of the ball.
  18. Democrats aint ever doin shit because GOP/Epstein has dirt on them as well. Its pretty simple, actually
  19. thanks event total europe had 7 of top 10 in strokes gained putting. europe had 4 of the top 5, US had 4 of the bottom 5. US had 6 of the top 10 in stroked gained approach(better than I expected but...) Sunday singles US had 6 of top 10 in strokes gained putting US had 7 of top 10 in Strokes gained approach they murdered us putting Friday foursomes and Saturday fourballs. the other 2 Friday/Sat sessions were about even putting.
  20. Yeah read this and then tell us who is going to stop him. Who is Cody Campbell, billionaire Texas Tech booster in commercials? Interesting side note, Tech recently published their plans to become an AAU university. Campbell is the Chairman of the TTU Board of Regents. Notably - the Big 10 only accepts AAU universities. My suspicion is that Campbell's end game is to get Tech into the Big 10 or SEC and get the NCAA swapped out for more of an NFL-style governance/media setup.
  21. Irish Wrist Watch / Drew pillow fight, and I agree with Drew. Some guy mistaking Diggs. Cool thread.
  22. This is going to be a vicious fight - and one that we need to have. Here in WA, like Texas, we do not have a state income tax, and even mentioning one is the third rail of state politics. It means that we have a terribly regressive tax system (one of the very few things I dislike about the state). This year the Lege tabled a bill to place a small tax on people with an annual income of over 1 million dollars, almost exactly the state's top 1% of earners threshold. Almost immediately constant radio ads popped up about the state not raising taxes, funded by the usual suspects who would have C-suite people affected by it (Microsoft, T-Mobile, Expedia, Amazon, Alaska Airlines, etc.). Nothing, of course, about the 99% that do not have 7-figure incomes and would not be affected. This fight is going on in a state that has a near-supermajority D legislature, the second-largest economy per capita in the country (after NY), and the fourth highest income required to be 1% (after CT, MA and CA). Even here the Dems are not messaging it well at all, and that speaks to the discussion here and in the NYT's op-ed above. This stuff needs to be hammered home.
  23. I’m a Red Sox fan. If it can’t be the Sox then I’m pulling hard for the Blue Jays to win it all. I finally quit on Longhorn football when they lined up tight formation on the goal line on fourth and goal and ran yet another QB sneak for no gain against Ohio State. I said fuck this bullshit, turned it off, and haven’t paid attention to it since. If Texas wins, great. If not, I don’t really care anymore. I had no idea we had a bye this past weekend. My life is better for it. I won’t root for an American to win anything for the foreseeable future. If you fly an American flag, I just think you are a fascist asshole. The anthem pretty much makes me sick to my stomach now. Fuck ‘em all.
