  2. Athletes are bigger, stronger, faster and the weaker points or where there’s give, is the connective tissue. It doesn’t require contact, an immediate stop, pivot or cut can create the tear just as well.
  3. Therapist: I see the conflict. *Notes: Deep-seated fear of furries*
  4. By god, that's Johnny Sack's music!! American cities are basically Fallujah.
  5. Then I'm going to put my "Hook 'em" reaction back where it belongs.
  6. In this video, the patient she is speaking about my dear friend, who has gone through chemo, a double mastectomy, and is going under the knife again based on the lymphedema issue referenced. My friend will be paying out of pocket for this crucial procedure thanks to United being the biggest pieces of shit in history. That will be followed by radiation and multiple more surgeries. Dr. Potter is a fucking hero, and her attempts to fight these pieces of shit at United have taken a major financial toll on her and her practice. For more info on Dr. Potter, she was interviewed by NBC here: https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/texas-surgeon-says-unitedhealthcare-dispute-may-force-bankruptcy-rcna223519 For those inclined to support a doctor who is going to the mat for us, the patients, she has a GoFundMe me here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/stand-with-a-surgeon-facing-retaliation Fuck United and the cowards on the phone with Dr. Potter in this clip.
  7. I already mea culpa'd man. It's the football board, so I guess I'm just doing as the Romans do...
  8. Funny. Japan's population is accelerating in its decline, but there is anti immigrant Japan First movement that is catching on. Uhhh, me thinks immigration is the least of their concerns. Immigration may be the only thing that saves that country from ceasing to exist in 100 years. Not surprisingly, the Japan First movement is being linked to Russia propaganda. Old people everywhere are just fucking stupid. Dumb, old people are Putin's wet dream. https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/japanese-population-sees-record-drop-025259023.html The population of Japanese nationals fell by a record amount -- more than 900,000 people -- in 2024, official data showed, as the country battles to reverse its perennially low birth rates. While many developed countries are struggling with low birth rates, the problem is particularly acute in Japan where the population has been declining for years. Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has called the situation a "quiet emergency", pledging family-friendly measures like more flexible working hours and free day care to try and reverse the trend. Advertisement Last year, the number of Japanese fell by 908,574, or 0.75 percent, to 120.65 million. The decline -- for a 16th straight year -- was the largest drop since the survey began in 1968, the internal affairs ministry said Wednesday. Foreign resident totals, however, were at their highest since records began in 2013. There were 3.67 million foreigners as of January 1, 2025, representing nearly three percent of the whole population in Japan, which was more than 124.3 million as of that date. The overall population of the country declined by 0.44 percent from 2023. The latest figures come as the government struggles to raise stubbornly low birth rates, while frustration over inflation and other concerns among some voters prompted the rise of a new opposition party with a slogan of "Japanese First".
  9. In basketball, it’s been a combination of taking a “negative step” move (putting your leg behind you in order to generate more push) and then pushing off with great force. When the leg is behind you it has the Achilles already in greater tension (due to the large amount of dorsiflexion of the ankle compared when you are simply running). Dame, Jayson Tatum, and Tyrese Halliburton were all injured on similar moves this past NBA season. In Hali’s case, he already had an existing calf strain which was putting even more strain on the Achilles. KD also had it happen a while back. This type of injury could happen on start-stop moves in football, though I feel like on a grass field it could be mitigated. Maybe @Magus Ossis can chime in?
  10. Okay. You sort of buried the lede here. What "networking" events are held at Baby A's in North Austin lol? Sounds like you mean drug deals, meeting of the (aforementioned) cartel leaders, or what?
  11. That’s more than gist of what I was asking. I’m wondering if any of our resident doctors are aware of advances.
  12. A million seconds is 11 1/2 days A billion seconds is 31 1/2 years A trillion seconds is close to 32,000 years - you go back in time that far and Margorie Taylor Green's Neanderthal cousins were fooling around with one another.
  13. Yeah, that’s not what I’m saying at all, Dick. It would be an aberration for someone with an Achilles. Glad to see it, but it is definitely not the norm. People tend to lack burst after an Achilles rupture. Quite a bit of a difference from an ACL.
  14. not really
  15. Derek Thompson did a good podcast on Achilles injuries and prevention in the NBA. A large part was due to premature specialization in sports and overuse.
  16. So it looks like he has some control issues, but doesn’t really give up hard contact. Seems like someone our coaches can work with…
  17. we've been dealing with plenty of 2a/3a schools. they still count and still fundraise.
  18. My son is now 11 and these past 12 months in his select world (12U) and Little League (11U+12U), we've been around 6-7 kids with "little league arm" which is basically the pre-pubescent version of serious elbow problems. I don't get it. This isn't an overuse thing given all of the pitch count and rest rules for kids these days. I've heard it's a burgeoning epidemic in high school, even. In the 80's and 90's, it seemed like maybe a couple of guys a year would tear their UCLs and require TJ surgery. Now the Astros alone have like 5-6 guys going through the process.
  19. Every single time a statistic shows that crime is down, that is their response. "durrr nobody reports it bc the cops won't do anything and the DA won't prosecute, hurrrr"
  20. Yeahhhhhhh Testarossa or 512m. Best car posters ever. Followed by Diablo.
  21. Here is a good video discussing the topic, players play longer, harder and maybe the shoe is exacerbates the situation.
  22. Hah, doh! Indeed. I intended Blue Grass Parkway Sorry.
  23. Take it to the NSFW forum. Some of us read this thread at work.
