Charlie Kirk assassinated at an event in Utah (by a 22 YO groyper)
Willfully Horn replied to msbesq's topic in Cloak Room
Me, too. Discussing the SM hue and cry with my wife, who is on IG, she wondered why anyone would think it came from actual humans, and not bot farms. Of course, my wife is thinking Kirk was deliberately martyred ever since she saw the dead eyed defiance in the widow’s video. The immediate wave of speech suppression felt orchestrated to her, as well. -
Started Adolescence after this. Crazy to do a 3 episode show as a Onner (spelling?). And it’s Tommy from Snatch, which blew my mind a bit.

No, it's clearly a he needs to meet the moment thing. He's gotta figure it out in the next week or it's going to be a very long season. This defense is very easy to root for, and it may be something everyone needs to pivot to. I think it's interesting that sark called out athlete ball and that being something he's seeing too much of and doesn't want to see. It makes me think that arch isn't bought into sarks play calling and thinks he can make something else happen. That's a bad mindset to have and could lead to even more pressure. It could also explain why he's just flat out missing seeing wide open early reads. If I'm sark this week all I'm doing is calling plays and running them with a throw timer of 5 seconds. He needs to get the ball out to a route in 5 seconds or throw it away. If he can't figure that out first before he can use his legs to buy time then it's fucked. I guarantee sark isn't designing plays that take more than 3 seconds to develop and 5 seconds to execute.

Anyway this disaster is proving to be every bit as bad as I feared. There is just no tragedy that cannot be exploited by the corrupt people in power. The media is, of course, playing along happily. -

At this point I'm beginning to wonder what the Milwee does. He's been Sark's hand-selected apprentice for six years. If he's not ready to take on the OC role and play calling responsibilities, what does he bring to the table? What's been the point of keeping him around for so long? He doesn't appear to be in danger of being poached. The one guy/position he coaches is sucking ass. I'm getting Eric Bieniemy vibes here. -
For fiction (however, most of my reading is non-fiction), my new favorite is Niall Williams. Start with "History of the Rain." His prose is beautiful, so evocative. It's not a story-driven novel, more place and character-driven. Absolutely wonderful. Amazon link. My all-time favorite is Cormac McCarthy (somewhat controversial choice). For non-fiction, start with anything by Ron Chernow. The latest profound but non-religious book that I've read is "Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business," by Neil Postman. Written in 1985, 25 years before social media, and unbelievably prescient.

I don't think they really trust the second CB spot. It was also the correct strategy against UTEP. You stop the run, take away explosives, and make them execute their way down the field, converting 3rd and longs along the way. There's not really a reason to play that game anything but pure vanilla.

That's not all you need, my little amigo.

This. This is what I said pretty early in the war, when it became apparent that Ukraine wasn't going to fold like a cheap tent in a matter of days/weeks. I've represented parties in plenty of fights against a much larger, better-funded, "heavy-hitter," bullying opponent. And our strategy to win is quite often the same: just stand your ground. The gorilla will charge, kick up lots of dust, beat his chest, maybe even throw a punch or two. He will eat up your time and money. But in the end, after he's exhausted his playbook (beat your chest and act the bully), he doesn't have a plan B. That's when you go on the attack, and he doesn't have a fucking answer for that. And that's when you win. It works. I'm not exactly a genius or novel thinker in using that strategy, it's been around a LONG time. Ukraine knows it.

Closeted Baylor ghouls.

That was really uncalled for.

Pretty vague. Care to elaborate? -
Let’s go with the latter, because….well, nobody can prove otherwise?

I don’t think anyone has mentioned this, but maybe the Texas defense mind fucked him in practice. -

And this actually ties back to a subject that was covered earlier: this idea that Charlie Kirk was all for open debate/discussion. Yeah, no. Sorry. I’m here to call absolute bullshit on that one. The entire premise of his debate format was exactly in the title: “prove me wrong.” That in itself is logically fallacious. That’s shifting the burden of proof. When I first saw him doing that shit, my first reaction was exactly what it is today: “no, motherfucker. That’s not how it works. You have to prove that you’re right and then you get to ask if we can disprove you.” ”Prove me wrong” wasn’t just some label that he used either. Just watch that video and many others like it and you’ll notice the same problem: Charlie Kirk never met that challenge. All he ever did was bloviate his stupid and ignorant opinions to college kids. There’s no need to “prove him wrong,” there. He failed to live up to the burden of proof to demonstrate his positions as factual/accurate/true. Every. Single. Time. For example, when he says “prowling blacks go around for fun targeting white people. That’s a fact!” How was it a fact? Had he presented credible evidence to establish such a fact? Or was he just blowing more of his horseshit out there and packaging it as “fact,” as so many right wingers just love to do? Well it’s hard to assume the former because I actually did watch a few formats of this “engage the college kids” nonsense and he never did that. It was just drive-by internet troll horseshit. In doing these ridiculous presentations and editing out the few actual strong rebuttals he would encounter along the way, through the miracle of social media, he was able to convince millions of rubes that he was smart. He was able to convince people that he had powerful points. He was able to convince people that because college kids couldn’t prove a negative, his general political persuasion was the right one. It was intellectual fakery to the absolute max. So no, I will not concede the point that this piece of shit was a champion of open discourse. He infected open discourse with the intellectual equivalent of AIDS, cancer and Alzheimer’s all rolled into one. -

Another indictment of how social media works and how content is curated and presented to users. There are millions who legitimately have never heard Kirk say any of the bad stuff that he said. -
I agree that we deserve some votes, but there is a motivational silver lining if we don't.

lots of indoor self-touching I'm assuming.

Yeah. If I was at an event and they said "A moment of silence for somebody who just got shot" then I am going to be silent. Doesn't mean I think the person who got shot was a great admirable guy. I am just against people being shot. -
Maybe but I think you have to throw some respect and 1st place votes to a team who is 6-0 with 5 ranked wins, including 3 top 10 wins in a row

let's be fair, sports reporters are a special breed of knucklehead.

Suck it, Andreeessen. Another grift down the toilet. Everyone, except for douchey tech-bro billionaires, wins here.
