100%. That's why you build failsafes inside of failsafes, and you let them know beforehand. My life insurance policy is a video of you fucking a child, motherfucker. I die, and that policy gets cashed in. Understood? -
Big money ruining college sports has been solved; maybe
Hayduke replied to Wally Fairway's topic in Football
So now I'll venture my best guess. Nothing these folks do will stop the flow of money upward to the bigs. In the near term, successful football and basketball schools will keep winning. Consolidation at the top will continue. So that's kinda "free market" and kinda not. If I'm interpreting correctly, it looks like @TornACL is saying that the executive order is a little anticompetitive, and I think there's a very strong argument to be made there. Some folks might even look at it and say that it's a little "socialistic" -- especially if you change the topic from college sports to something else, like professional sports or maybe electronics stores. It's pretty crazy stuff. I think, ultimately, it's going to hasten the shuttering of lots of lesser football programs and smaller team sports. That's one way of looking at it, but what I'm trying to do is look at the bigger picture of how everyone ELSE is going to react to that symbolic nothingness. I have no idea what the hell is going on around college sports right now. But I'm paying very close attention to it for several reasons. One is that I work for a university and am particularly close to the issue of how "policy," law and power work, both for internal and external issues. Another is that I have a young adult-child who's off to college in a year and is a on the cusp of minor D1 sports competition -- not scholarship level, in almost all certainty, but the combination of scholarly and athletic ability are going to be very attractive to colleges who are begging for students and, in particular, students who have what they are looking for beyond just tuition dollars. Next week, we'll probably hit one major D1 university and one excellent D3 school that really emphasizes sports. What I'm not sure of is how my offspring feels about sport in either or both of these places, and whether the team we'll look at will even exist at the D3 school four or five years from now. -
is that like Aggy’s fighting chance to win the SEC?

Registered direct offerings are typically bullish, but fuck they are diluting the hell out of this thing.

Look, either PPE is required or it's just show. this was just show. i am not sure what the exact scope is and I assume the Fed Reserve building is old and probably has a lot of problems, but a construction cost of 2.7 billion dollars for a renovation project is pretty gonzo. but good on Powell for calling out Trump on the 400 million dollar error.

Why, just once, can't a reporter follow up with (for instance) "can you explain the effect of a stronger/weaker dollar on imports and exports?"

Anything going on in the triangle of Centerville-Crockett-Madisonville food wise? Heading to Fort Boggy State Park tomorrow and looking for something to eat after hiking/fishing. -
Can't recommend AF1 highly enough. The only reason I bought my Aprilia was because AF1 was nearby. They're widely recognized as the best Apriila dealership in the country, and they offer the same level of service and support with the other brands that they carry.

Good time to catch a Hooks game this weekend. Spaghetti, Garcia and France are all supposed to pitch in Corpus over the weekend.

I guess with no funding NPR radio could just play this on an endless loop comes the spark. If any of you are American Revolutionary War history fans, you should be familiar with the Battle of Kings Mountain and how the militia responded to “Tarleton‘s Quarter”.

Michigan HC Sherrone Moore gives criteria for naming starting QB By Andrew Kulha | Jul 24, 2025 Most seem to expect that former No. 1 overall recruit and true freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood is going to be the starter for the Michigan Wolverines in 2025, but head coach Sherrone Moore is still not ready to make that decision. In fact, at Big Ten Media Days, Moore was clear that a starting quarterback has not yet been named for the Wolverines. "Before anyone asks, it’s an open competition,” Moore told the media. Underwood has superstar potential, but, as mentioned, is a true freshman. Yes, he was a star at the high school level, but that doesn't necessarily mean that will all translate once the hits are for real at the college level, especially in the stacked Big Ten. That's why Michigan went out and brought in two transfer quarterbacks this offseason in former East Carolina quarterback Jake Garcia and former Fresno State quarterback Mikey Keene. They, as well, have never played Big Ten football and they'll never be confused for superstars in Ann Arbor, but they've at least thrown a touchdown at the college level. Ultimately, talent is not going to be the final determining factor for Moore — at least here in fall camp. It comes down to leadership for him. "There is no starter. When they ‘have the team’ we’ll know we have our starter," Moore said. If it comes down to pure talent alone, Underwood will likely be under center when the Wolverines open the season against New Mexico on Aug. 30. It is tough for a freshman quarterback to lead a football team, though, so it will be interesting to see which way Moore and his staff decide to go.

To your last point, I like the guy. He cracks me up. None of him making me laugh is intentional on his part, but God love him, man. I enjoy his morbid obesity and cheap jokes we all make about him. I enjoy even more reading frustrated aggies talking about him being a fatass, usually following losses. I love the fact that he’s either aggressively lying and misleading aggies and the media regarding the talent on his roster, or he’s actually oblivious to how many gaps he has on his depth chart and how little depth he actually has. I don’t know which I prefer, but I know what the aggie reactions are going to be either way and I can’t wait. -

M235I is a great car, if you can find one in good shape. Toss a set of camber plates on it, and it's an absolute blast on the track and back roads. Just keep up with maintenance and Rojo Jr should be fine. -

Disregarding the fact that IQ is a flawed measurement of "intelligence", I would love to see left/right or Democrat/Republican spectral distributions of IQ. Hey to the Bell Curve.

The one good thing about pathological liars is it's easy to see when they are actually telling the truth. He's definitely been to the island, but he had someone write the letter that he doodled/signed. He's involuntarily admitting it here. -
Since I have 2 little girls (4 & 3), the wife and I took them to the movies last night to see Smurfs. Holy. Fucking. Shit. Could be one of the worst movies I've ever seen. My 4 year old asked 40 minutes into that shit bag if we could leave and go home to watch Sofia the First. Don't bother wasting your time and money on that shitfest.
