  • Tom Herman Fired as UT Football Coach

    texifornia
Almost as unceremonious as his past 2 victories to finish off the season, Tom "the turtle" Herman has been removed as the head coach of the Texas Longhorns.

We don't really wish you anything, but to get the hell out of here Tom.

This sucks?  Herman is gone, which is good.  I have no clue on Sark but hopefully we’ve done our homework.  If not rinse and repeat in three years.

Yep. Make the best hire we can and see where it goes. All you can do.

This is a fucking mess.   Sark did well at Alabama because saban did all the hard work....allowing Sark to work with polished, disciplined, elite athletes.  Coaches fail at bog schools because the gravity of the schools are tremendous.

Fortunately, UT is positioned on a limestone* base

    * I expect to be corrected. That was just a guess

Can somebody please package up all of Brando's anti-Texas Twitter dumbassery and send it to CDC?  CDC needs to thrown a little weight around and keep Brando off of any future UT games.

    Fuck Brando.

Herman needed to go for obvious reasons.
Sark needs to put together an A+ staff and CDC better not get in the way. Hope he has the chops to handle this pressure cooker.

Maybe Saban rehabbed him...lol, I said rehab.

Watching ESPN right now and this asshat is saying UT didn’t give Strong or Herman enough time to recruit and build their programs.  What a fucking joke.

I saw it too. It was the "talk show" setup, with one asshat saying it's a good move and the other asshat saying it's a bad one.

Definitely flamed out at USC - though going 9-4 when you were completely blitzed most of the time is impressive in its own sort of way.

    "Shooter" Sarkisian?

    What is the difficult truth?

That we should be happy to lose to OU and Iowa State because we are entitled and expect too much out of 6 million dollar head coach.

Galloway’s point lost all credibility when he mentioned Strong.

The difficult truth is that Tim Brando doesn't have the integrity to be impartial; he can't hide his hatred of UT if he tried.  I wouldn't mind beating his face in.

Someone needs to remind him that he isn't SEC good.

CDC is on twitter enough I doubt he needs help with that.  If he does he'll have an intern do it.

Saw it too and it is infuriating to watch these clowns not even mention the coaching record against OU/OSU/TCU and then talk about how he is good in bowls. Morons

    So just Tom was fired?

Well when no announcement by your ad is made you let all the twitter morons make up whatever they want. Has there even been a official release that your coach was fired or has it all been handled by the B team Austin media?

If Sark is in fact hired,  I don't know if he will a a good coach,  don't know if he will lock up the State of Texas  recruiting or not.

But I do know there won't be a drop of kool-aid in the Laga4 house until he beats OU,  wins a Big 12 Championship and gets in the CFP all in the same year.

The story broke because UT put out a press release. CDC put out a statement as well. Calm down.

He catches heat from a donor al Alabama, saban makes a phone call and it goes away.    Not so as the big man in charge.  It’s constant, unrelenting, pressure that most can’t handle week after week.  Tom, with weeks off, can put together a good bowl game plan.   Bit during the season the fuck yes mount as the pace is daunting.

This is the correct answer.  Being a HC isn't so much about X's and O's but what you just said and some schools are more high pressure than others.  Saban has basically told the boosters there to fuck off as long as he wins.  The Bama Club of Memphis or whoever the fuck can deal.  The pressure to win is immense, though.  There is no personal latitude like Mack had.

Sark failed spectacularly at one of the most high maintenance booster schools in college sports and now he's going to another?  This will end very badly.

I’d be happy if Ash stayed...I’ve seen improvement almost every week from our defense and they certainly look more confident than they did before he arrived. With a proper off-season I have faith our defense continues to improve toward the top of the conference.

Does anyone have credible information regarding whether the playcalling and rhythms of our offense was a result of TH continuing to meddle? Or was this Yurcich’s offense all season?

I'm wondering if the thought was "well, we got a lot of shit for firing Mack.  Then even more shit for firing Charlie.  We're going to get a lot of shit for firing Herman right after the 7-3 and two straight blowout wins.  So let's mix in a redemption story to soften things.  Plus that history will allow us to quickly move on if he implodes without getting shit the next time."

    • I was bored and went through the coaching staffs for each of the remaining playoff teams.  Listed below are the coaches who seemed like possibilities to me (but I'm an idiot).  They all have some college coaching experience and in the case of one an extensive HS coaching background.  A couple of entries have pretty light resumes but have long NFL careers.

      Houston Texans:
Jacques Cesaire DL coach - 5 years at Univ of San Diego as DL coach, 9 years as DE for San Diego Chargers
      Rod Wright Asst DL Coach

      Green Bay Packers:
Jerry Montgomery DL coach -11 years in college at OU, Michigan, Wyoming.  Last 9 years in NFL

      Detroit Lions:
John Scott Jr. DL Coach - First year in Detroit.  Previously coached at Penn St., South Carolina, and Arkansas
Wayne Blair QC - Long time Florida HS head coach, spent last two years coaching DLine in Detroit.  Played at Tulane and CFL

      Buffalo Bills:
Marcus West Asst D-Line - Prior to joining Bills in 2022 spent 14 years as college D-Line coach (Charlotte, Minn, Austin Peay)

      San Francisco 49ers:
Darryl Tapp Asst D-Line - 12 year NFL veteran.  Coached D-Line at V-Tech for 2 seasons.  Joined 49ers in 2022.

    • I'm not doing well about it, at all.

That's because we had our championship window of opportunity, which is now closed.

Why? Because now we face another, more potent opponent. The Fightin' Aggies of Texas A&M University.
They have THE best traditions in all of college. Plus, they've already surpassed us in baseball and basketball. Don't believe me? Consider this recent post from TexasAgs: "We've already surpassed them in baseball and basketball."

What's more, they demonstrated an unquenchable commitment to success when they paid a coach $78 MILLION to leave. That's right. $78 million to a coach they had presented a future national championship trophy to stop coaching, and they did it mid-season without a replacement locked-in. While it seems like this is poor financial management by their athletic department, it shows a spirit of winning we could only dream about.

Now, they've brought in a coach who gets them. That's right. He EMBRACES their traditions. And he has a great nickname, The Elk, which pairs with The Station quite nicely. We don't even have an amazing nickname for our city.

      +

Finally, when you compare the two football programs, A&M comes out ahead. As many of their posters continually point out, they faced a much better Alabama team than we did AND ALMOST WON. Plus, they paid tribute to their near-win against the second-best team in the Big 12.

Now that they've moved on from many of their players from the best recruiting class of all time, and have had multiple highly ranked recruits opt out, they are ready to win even more championships with hardworking farm boys from small towns.

Thanks for indulging my meltdown. I'm skeered real good.
