Giles is Thanos because he snaps his fingers and 1/2 of the top Dline targets in Texas disappear from UT's board.34 points

We need an Oscar Giles recruiting incompetence thread so we don't have to have this discussion every other day. Yes, Giles is a lazy recruiter. Yes, it's on Herman. OK good. Can we move on?14 points

Ring that bell. That is the biggest "tell" on the issue. If you are TRULY "pro-life," then you take that stance consistently, AND you work to address the issue at the source, to minimize the desire for abortion or other actions that endanger life. The doesn't just fail to do so -- they consistently oppose anything along those lines. As just one counter-example, contrast that with the Catholic church, which is at least consistent with its "pro-life" stance -- it is anti-abortion, anti-death penalty, and dedicated to protecting refugees and asylum seekers. In today's GOP, abortion is a facade. It allows party supporters to falsely claim some sort of moral high ground, while supporting cruelty (remember, the cruelty IS the point these days). Watch the discussion. Watch them refuse to defend the actual cruelty espoused and practiced by the party, only to deflect with "oh yeah, what about ABORTION?!?!" Every. Single. Time. They use abortion as a shield, behind which they hide and commit and support pure cruelty. That also tells you the end game -- the abortion debate is never going away (that is, the GOP leadership never actually wants to kill Roe v. Wade), because they don't want to be left without their shield.13 points

I know what you're saying, and I agree in principle. However a non trivial number of Americans and a VAST majority of Republicans have looked at Trump's actions and with clear eyes, they have approved. I have watched the slow moving shit show called the GOP move from center right to radical right. They are the party of Fear, Superstition, and Hate. I think you might also make a case that they have evolved to literally want to destroy many American institutions and bring about a fascist religious state. They are the American Taliban. GOP republicans are the most un American people you will ever meet. A good number of them need to be perp walked, and Trumpkins shamed and marginalized.13 points

The abortion issue is largely virtue signaling. If you had an anti-abortion, centrist Democrat on the ballot against a pro-choice Republican, you know they'd still vote Republican. It's almost as if being a Republican is more about cultural identity than specific policy. Who would've guessed?9 points

I didn't know i robbed the liquor store. But if you say so, i recommend we just put the money back in the register. This guy should be in jail.8 points

These damned leftists, every single one should answer for this. Whatever we do, we should not dismiss this as just a few people being idiots and vandalizing the wrong statue. We must defend all Confederate memorials and move to have the Confederate flag fly over the White House and Wall. There's no middle ground.8 points

Evangelical protestants as a whole didn't even oppose abortion until they lost the fight over segregation. in 1973 the Southern Baptist Press news bulletin supported Roe v. Wade: Evangelicals rallied around abortion as the basis for their opposition to secularism once they realized they couldn't publicly argue that their support for segregation was what made them morally superior to secular liberals. Sure, they really truly believe for the most part today that they oppose abortion and have always opposed abortion and would have always opposed abortion and will always oppose abortion, but it's a shallow belief. That shallowness is why they never think beyond "abortion = bad" and "liberals = murderers" and consider the implications of actually outlawing abortion. Sure, a select few of them actually want to send doctors who provide abortions to jail, but most don't, and almost none want to send women who get abortions to jail. If the GOP pulled a 100% u-turn on abortion tomorrow but otherwise remained the party of southern conservative whites, at least 80-85% of those southern conservative whites would stay with the GOP but suddenly be pro-choice and would shortly forget that they'd ever opposed abortion. Their current opposition to abortion is a result of their political identities, not the other way around.7 points

You see Radio (Vince Young) is a great athlete playing QB. He's surrounded by a great team that makes him successful as a QB, but he's really just a great athlete. Reggie is an actual QB. If he were (I know, aggy doesn't use subjunctive) surrounded by the talent Radio has around him, we'd be doing even better. We beat Kansas last year by more than the sips did, so we may actually already be a better team.7 points

Your general pessimism and negativity is one thing, but I've had about enough of your British spellings here lately, sir. You are on notice. Perhaps your view of the programme is coloured by your perception that it's still in the foetal stages of development.6 points

No we don't. The reason we're having this discussion so often is because Giles is struggling on the trail often. These are all separate incidents with separate kids, if he wasn't repeating this pattern so frequently people wouldn't be bringing it up so frequently. When Giles decides not to keep in touch with kids he's recruiting, you should be blaming him, not the posters who have the audacity to bring it up in the recruiting thread. Whatever your opinions on Giles are, it's Texas recruiting related and it belongs in this thread.6 points

That's the thing, we are NOT all on the same team. Any R that's truly for America has left the party...raises hand. Those who are left would MUCH rather join arms with Russians who also hate browns, gays etc. So your point sounds great until you break down what exactly is going on. Not saying deport them, but sure as hell don't coddle them and give some 'yay team' BS...that won't play.6 points

I know a number of folks who openly admitted that they did not like Trump, but were holding their nose and voting for him because of the abortion issue. Whatever, I may disagree, but we each have our reasons. What's infuriating is that a few of these people have slowly become big Trump fans over the past two years. The obvious flaws that bothered them in 2016 haven't gone away, but these people have all lowered their standards of what is acceptable solely in the name of supporting the team, and now they are buying into all of the right-wing propaganda. Abortion is a gateway drug in transforming otherwise reasonable folks into the stereotypical Fox News monsters.5 points

You coming on here, telling is how un-knowledgeable you are and then saying stupid shit like this is on you. You’re flat out wrong. There is 0 possibility Collins isn’t a take. Collins is a fucking take for every school in the country. youre literallly proving our point about Giles but you don’t realize it. Giles is such a shitty recruiter that it leads people to wonder if a no doubt-top 100 DE who fits our system perfectly and is a UT legacy is even a take. The trademark of a Giles recruitment is people looking at his recruiting efforts or lack thereof, and wondering if UT even what’s his commitment. Guess what, that recruit wonders the same thing and then the door opens for other programs. Honestly, a good recruiter would already have Collins, Princely, and Dorbah locked up right now. Collins is a legacy who lives 30 minutes from here. Princely loves 30 minutes from here and visits campus as often as he can and for both he and Dorbah, our main competition is OU who literally doesn’t have a pulse regarding defensive recruiting right now. LSU just offered Princely and he called it his dream school. I’m not saying we’ll lose him, but the door should’ve already been slammed closed on his recruitment. Instead, Giles has left it open.5 points

I'm not talking about those people. They have left like I have, they may not be D's now but they sure as shit are not with the R party. If they throw all these assholes out, I'll consider coming back to the party but I highly doubt it after many a R showed their true colors. I'm talking about all the assholes protecting and supporting this regime. There's A LOT of those people. And fuck them...deportation is too kind, as those who actually colluded with the Russians should be hanging from the rafters. Treasonous pieces of shit.5 points
