"The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery." 4 U.S.C. 8(d).12 points

The shoe design was tacky. Kap’s objection is stupid. The reaction to it is ludicrous. Fake outrage over a shoe design followed by fake outrage over its cancellation. Everyone involved in this story sucks12 points

no, we are getting insight into how a trump supporter thinks and rationalizes. it's really incredible. slorch is the 40%. this is how they think. look at how this started. i asked a simple question: should we treat other human beings with compassion? it really is a simple question, but it makes the trump supporter/current-day republican uncomfortable, because somewhere in what remains in the shell of their heart, there is actually a remnant of humanity. so that discomfort manifests as anger. i mean, it costs slorch nothing to say that we should treat other human beings with compassion, but he knows the follow up is "why aren't we?" so he moves to deflect to make it about the law, even though these people haven't broken a law. it's the first rationalization. starting to realize that's a losing one and having to face the small bit of humanity in that heart, and he can't bear that, not now, he moves onto to somehow blame the "left" with his "it's a coy move by the left." somehow, the left has organized and infiltrated central american countries rife with crime, gangs, extortion, drugs, and abuse, and convinced these frightened and desperate central americans to seek asylum in the us. it's the left. that's the second rationalization. and it always comes back to this for the modern day republican and trump supporter. then he must realize how fucking ridiculous that sounds, and he returns to the law question, now not caring if he is right or wrong. these people are here wrongfully, and therefore they somehow DESERVE to be treated like animals, because they are common criminals and tools and pawns of THE LEFT, instead of tools and pawns of the fucking administration who orchestrated this whole tragedy AS A PUNITIVE DETERRENT for seeking asylum. so he manages in his head to not take any responsibility for the terrible conditions, make it not about trump's decision to enact this shameful policy, thus assuaging that small bit of humanity. shrug, it can't be helped. they broke the laws, and besides, it was the left anyways. so he gets to delude himself while at he same time STICK IT TO THE LIBS. abusing other human beings to show the libs. and that's what it all about people. very illustrative, @slorch thanks for the insight in how the 40% engage in self-delusion and rationalization of evil.9 points

Chicken Parm - Side of Spaghetti with Red Sauce Started with a little homemade red sauce. I posted a recipe for this back a few pages. Chicken came out perfect golden brown. Tried a little different technique this time and I think I like it. Marinated the chicken in the egg wash with some salt and pepper in the refrigerator for about 30 mins before starting. Then dunk in flour, then back in egg, then bread crumb like normal. I think the marinating helped everything stick a little better and ended up with a more consistent finished product. Also seemed less messy. Made too much sauce so my ratios were a little off. It was one of those..."one can of tomatoes wasn't enough and two cans was too many" type situations. Not a huge deal, though. It's pretty easy to plate around that. Got a little heavy handed with the cheese. Again, just seemed like one slice wasn't enough but 2 was probably too many. But, as Surly always says, is there really such thing as too much cheese? Most of the excess just ran off the side anyway so no big deal. Didn't want to waste all that runoff melted cheese so figured I might as well throw a dollop on top of the spaghetti as a topping. And of course, in keeping with the "no such thing as too much cheese" theme, finished with some freshly grated parmigiano reggiano. End result slammed and went and shit...9 points

why do you have to take it that far? we don't have to take the world in our borders and cripple our nation. i mean, i doubt several thousand migrants from central america is going to "break" america, but let's put that aside. let's just say we do what you want: follow the law. in this case, resulting in probably most of these folks being turned away. in the interim, while they are under OUR authority, in OUR name, should we not treat them with compassion? it's fairly simple. you seem really angry about this for some reason i do not fully understand, and maybe you don't fully understand it either. but your tone in your posts and your unwillingness to simply say "yes, we should treat other human beings with compassion" is saying a lot about you. we don't have to offer asylum to those that do not qualify. but while we go through the process of vetting these other human beings, seeking shelter here in the united states under legal domestic and international law (they ARE following the law, trying to seek asylum, surely you can also admit that?), maybe we should, i don't know TREAT THESE HUMAN BEINGS WITH COMPASSION AND NOT LOCK THEM IN CAGES AND SEPARATE THEM FROM THEIR CHILDREN. we're the goddamn united states of america; we should be better than this. but we are not. it's a simple thing for a country with our resources to find solutions other than "lock them in crowded cages and don't let them wash and treat them like animals." because of terrible people like you, who cannot answer a simple yes or no question: should we treat other human beings with compassion? it's fundamentally a simple thing. shame on you. shame.8 points

Kinda reminds me of the time the ex and I were messing around and it involved a container of Cool Whip. The ex stepson asked the next day why there was a container of Cool Whip in the fridge that looked like someone had been eating it with their fingers. Not a finger, son. Just a small white dick.6 points

Love having my employer based insurance that changes every year or even fucks you over because an out-of-network doctor treated you in an in-network hospital. Can't wait for that to continue to be the norm because apparently paying a premium every month isn't a tax.5 points

Agree. The GOP created a hate engine that created a monster that they thought they could control. It worked for awhile. GOPs ran on hate and then ruled on greed. Well, a true demagogue comes onto the scene and seizes their monster. The monster is the problem. This demagogue is only the first one. He will likely be followed by more adept demagogues. Then the real fun begins.5 points

Yes, 247's personal rankings have him as the #32 player in the country, which is a 5 star. Granted, they also still have him somehow as a .96, which seems low for a 5 star, but whatever. This board loves Jackson, but he's not for sure a QB and is extremely raw as a passer. The point is, it's not like King has just shot up out of nowhere, he's a composite 79 player in the country, and 247 already thinks highly of the kid, as do other folks in the industry. I think ranking them as King > Card > Jackson > Hornsby is probably accurate and has been for awhile. Jackson has the greatest potential in this offense, probably, but King is a hell of a dual threat QB in his own right, and Card has some wiggle when he doesn't fumble the ball with his baby Deadpool hands.4 points

Tie a mouse to a string, place mouse at end of a board. Balance board above a trash can full of water. Connect car battery to copper wire wrapped around the board. When snake and mouse tumble into trash can, you’ve completed step one of making a roux.4 points

The legal process they are trying to invoke exists precisely to decide whether their claim is legitimate. If you don't like the law under which they are LEGALLY seeking entry, you need to change the law. Supporting the physical blockade preventing them from exercising their legal rights puts you on the wrong side of the law, not them.4 points

I would think you would know what a straw man is, logically speaking, but this post indicates you actually don't. That's a lot of effort to put into a post where you completely miss the point. Also, you might want to consider that the flag is not the same thing as the things you tried to compare them to. The bigger issue, though, is that you completely misunderstand my actual position. You're too busy seeing red and frothing at the mouth to realize that my issue with all of this is that I actually respect the flag and what it stands for. It's offensive to me that Nike was going to try to make money off the Betsy Ross flag. For somebody who actually cares about the flag for the right reasons that is by far the more disrespectful treatment of it.4 points

"Many people watching at home have health insurance coverage through their employer. Who here would abolish their private health insurance in favor of a government plan?" This is basic pronoun/antecedent confusion. When you have two different subjects in question, you can't use a pronoun to refer to the subject that wasn't used most recently. "Who here" is the subject of the sentence, so any personal pronoun coming after will refer to that subject. What the idiot moderators MEANT was "Who here would abolish those people's private health insurance in favor of a government plan?" Now you can say, "Come on, it's clear from context." 1) No, it's not. 2) How shitty do you have to be as a moderator and writer to fuck up basic pronoun/antecedent agreement when 15+ million people are going to be watching? It's embarrassing that these news organizations and moderators don't know how to formulate and phrase questions. But even going past the bad grammar, THE FUNDAMENTAL CONCEPTION OF THE QUESTION IS FLAWED! The moderators either know or should know that no candidate has advocated the complete abolition of private healthcare. If the moderators know that, then they are purposefully asking a misleading question and should be openly attacked by the participants. If the moderators don't know that, then they should be openly attacked by the participants for not doing their research and wasting everyone's time. Tough questions are fine, but when they are phrased like a C-level middle school student and dishonest in their content, those aren't hard questions, they're bullshit questions. Here are some good questions: - "Senator, do you believe that the government should guarantee that every citizen has health coverage regardless of their poor circumstances or poor choices?" - "Congresswoman, should someone who chooses not to purchase private health insurance be automatically enrolled into a government healthcare plan?" - "Mayor, would you support a plan that would allow a citizen to choose to not have healthcare coverage?" I would LOVE for a candidate to respond to one of these garbage questions with something like, "Our democratic process deserves more than the kinds of misleading and pointless questions being asked here with demands for 5 second responses."4 points

No. Trumpkins don’t have any basic beliefs in any positions. Their beliefs bend with whatever Trump is pushing. I can point to hundreds of examples of hypocrisy but I’ll just use one - North Korea. During the Obama administration, even the suggestion that Obama might open talks was met with cries of “He’s appeasing dictators! Bow and apologizing foreign policy is making America weak!” Hell, even during the first year of the Trump administration when Trump was threatening NK with “fire and fury” tweets, the Republicans wanted to nuke them off the planet. But now? NK is totally cool and Trump is a master statesman for getting played by a fat man in a little coat. The national debt used to matter. Executive overreach used to matter. Activist judges used to matter. None of it matters unless Trump says it matters. The 40% are where they are because of beliefs and values and policy positions. They’re there because Fox News and Trump tells them to be there. They exist and can’t feasibly be completely written off but don’t give them the credit of being who they are because of beliefs. They’re just assholes.4 points
