I wish I had been with it. Killing Black Sabbath and Zep songs with that guitar.

The other guitar player in my band does that with my Les Paul sometimes. He’s insanely good. I feel like I should just give it to him sometimes. But then I never do.

I understand. He handed it back to me and said, "You should be very excited about this guitar."

You sumbitches cost me 'bout five- fiddy.

Like that color.

That's a phone pic with me holding an LED flashlight over it. Plays really nice out the box, just lowered the bridge just a tiny smidge. I need to get the pedals out and crank it to get the right sound, though. I still suck at playing it. If nothing else it will make the room look much nicer.

The lack of dots or something in the middle of the board will take some getting used to.

I used my Musiciansfriend points to get a $129 Gretsch case for almost free. Threw in a jet slide to get the discount to 15%, and I've been wanting to try one out.

I think the deal is still on.

This is world class guitar trolling.  I love it.

And just FYI, Sweetwater is 48 months no interest on everything until the end of the month, and then sales tax also kicks in.

If anyone in Austin wants to check those out in person, Strait (south) has a good selection.

Love the color.  It looks like the retro vinyl booth seating at a Chuy's, which is perfect for a Gretsch.

This should give me amnesty for the next time I'm seriously looking at a deal and don't pull the trigger...those rare occasions.

I brought the Les Paul home for a string change. Ended up getting a deep cleaning followed by a carnauba waxing of the body and fingerboard conditioning. No words for how much I love this guitar.7f6b5ccb82971374c6a7a228b8113037.jpgfcf479fe6e6131e73d4a4dc5df700742.jpg

Hot damn nice work DougO! That’s a great looking machine.

I love how you never have to wonder “Is that a Gretsch?”

That's beautiful.

So I have this Casino Goldtop (maybe around 2008, I'll have to check; Chinese) that I never really bonded with.  It's cool, and it sounds good (especially through a cranked Bassman).  But you know.  Got rid of the vibrations with some felt under the pick guard and replaced the bridge.  Got it set up, but fiddled a little.  Has an Epi hard shell case that's nicer than the original for my 1970 Gibson ES335 by far (cushy).

Every time I think of ebay or reverb, I plug it into that Bassman, let it rip, and end up keeping it.  But I'm thinking it would be cool to have it end up with a Surly player, especially with the Goldtop, which seems to be a quite rare Casino color.  I know it's the wrong forum, but.

Can probably meet up on my trips around Texas assuming its Houston, Austin, or Dallas (assuming you're in no hurry).

What do you want for it? If not me, I have a buddy who is a Casino nut, and he doesn't have a gold one.

Asking for a friend.....

AUTF's LP and Goredho's are brothers from another mother in terms of looks. I may need another LP.

@AnotherUTFanWhat did you use to condition the fret board?    And the wax on the body?

I'd love to get $500, but I'd give your friend a "nice face" discount of 'bout four-fitty

Thanks.

I'm starting to feel a yearning for a mandolin.  That allowed in here?  Or is there a mandolin pr0n thread?

Can’t know if you don’t try.

"And it felt like a sin, just to play that mandolin."

Mandolin is fun. Weird at first, but once you get the feel of it it's pretty easy to pick out a tune and figure out some cool chord patterns. I have a Fender A-style Korean made mando I got at a pawn shop cheap years ago, haven't pulled it out in a long time.

Haven’t played mine in awhile either. I should figure out Battle of Evermore. And if you think you have callouses on your fingers now: mandolin strings are another level.

I have a little Ovation mandolin that I LOVE.  Chords are easy to figure out.  Just the 4 low end strings of the guitar (E-A-D-G) flipped upside down.

So the Gretsch deal is still on, but now Slickdeals is throwing in an extra $100 rebate. The DougO curse had to kick in at some point.

Apparently, the Slickdeals rebates are kinda sketchy, though.

Musician's Friend has select Fender Limited Edition Electric Guitars (Made in Mexico) listed below on sale for $549.99 each. Shipping is free. Thanks rumata13

Mandolins can constitute guitar pron for this thread. Also ukes, banjos, double points for guitarrons. Fiddles need to be on topic and no keytars.
