I mean you guys can keep doing the head in the sand routine and think it was just normal GOP propaganda, and I keep telling you it was not, the GOP has been targeting the youth for a while and failing but all of a sudden things like "kill all men" and you honestly don't expect to make headway?

https://srhsoffleash.org/2171/opinion/kill-all-men-is-only-killing-feminism/

You guys have no idea what the bloodsport of the culture wars was, it was very sick, and I am sorry, I am glad all those voices got silenced more or less, they finally learned that violent irrationally emotional speech has consequences.

We need discipline not idiocy, go scream at your pillow.

How much longer are you going to complain about things no Democratic candidate for office had anything to do with? You do understand the difference between random fucking people and Democratic nominees, right? Please tell me you at least have object permanence.

The party itself agrees with me, my 2 cents on the matter is that it was too late, they also needed to lean in the economic issues way earlier

Quote

To get at this, we at the Center for Working-Class Politics (CWCP) conducted a comprehensive quantitative analysis of Democratic candidates’ messaging in the 2022 midterm elections. What we found was that, while Democrats have unquestionably backed off of polarizing culture-war issues, they have also failed to put forward a strong economic platform to replace them. The result is that Republicans have gotten to fill this void with an image of Democrats as out-of-touch cultural extremists.

You can talk about culture war issues but frame it in an empathetic way, never in a bloodsport way.

ok this is finally getting productive.

@linux I agree social media and ancillary online social platforms like dating are the scourge of the Earth. I do think when young men chase women with success their priorities magically start to realign in positive ways. I know I'm not the shining example, but once upon a time I was a royal fuck up, and snagging my first wife with charm and sophistication set me on a path of productivity and empathy that I still reap rewards from today. Keeping kids off social media - heck keeping humans off social media - would make the world of difference.  None of this can truly be solved by politicians though the ban on SM for kids probably could be. You also said, "you can talk about culture war issues but frame it in an empathetic way, never in a bloodsport way." During the Obama Admin, I think it was 60%+ supported basic trans rights - even athletic competition - and that support was garnered because the language was humane and simple and communicated by one of our nation's greatest orators and he spoke compassion with that intonation that was distinctly masculine - it's hard to describe how Obama would do that man-to-man intonation but if you know what I'm talking about it's clear once it's pointed out to someone. Yes, though, right after marriage equality, the right went completely fucking nuts having lost marriage equality, doubling down and vowing not to lose the trans equality fight that they were already way behind on. sucks to be us now. fuck. we need that guy again to step up and say "come on guys, this is getting ridiculous." but then fix the problem and MOVE ON.

@Hank Kingsley fathers absolutely matter. so much so that this trans woman has kept her fatherly role in tact, it's pretty fucking queer - but I guess to the outside it just looks like I'm a tomboy mom, but I father more now than I ever did before. I love them unconditionally, but I'm the one that drives them, I'm the one that teaches them what the world will try to take from them, I'm the one that requires excellence, I'm the one that makes it clear their masculinity means protecting others who can't protect themselves and for them to champion those who deserve recognition but can't get it without a white male champion.  And guess what? While they do those things for others, these two young men have risen the ranks of their corner of the school with my soon to be senior the student leader of over 200 other students. My soon to be sophomore is the only sophomore in student leadership. Shocking when you truly lead, even the white guy can still be promoted, and promoted rapidly.

@immamac I'm down with the bull moose party, thanks for sharing. I think Pete is a rockstar, but I am not convinced the radicalized young men are salvagable. I do think Pete and Bernie, even AOC, going on the podcast circuit and hopefully crossing over into the "manosphere" or whatever the fuck it's being called is great. That will certainly have an effect, but in the end I think you are advocating for the same thing I am... being defined by conservatives and chasing conservative votes is a disaster for us.  Not sure the answer but giving into the farther left components of the democratic party - on economic issues primarily - is the only way out for the Dems imo.  I'm happy to take a back seat (provided any permanent damage done by republicans on social issues is undone asap then refocus on economics).  I agree citizens united is the worst decision of all time. Maybe young men who are all in trumpers will come around, I don't think so, but I do think there are plenty of young voters that can be energized to join a movement.

Seems like getting those who communicate well - Pete, Berine, AOC out there talking to people about real issues is the way to go. Focus on economics, don't be afraid to be truly progressive, and speak to the conservative labeling and fear mongering with contempt and with rational explanations that go to the heart of what ails us - the corporate and billionaire stranglehold on our government. and if we do that, then there IS a seat at the table for everyone, white, black, brown, trans, gay, straight, men, women, etc. (and we pass laws to ensure we have a crowded table (obscure reference to The Highwomen song).

Dems aren’t being cunts, though

They are being weak ass bitches who think the key to winning back voters is to be civil and above the trash when America is telling you they prefer the opposite.

well I think they need to get real clear, blunt and aggressive in blaming corporations and billionaires and then advancing a platform that supports 325 million Americans, leaving the other 15 million to enjoy their gains without special privilege.

Target the GOP, not the voters themselves, it is not rocket science guys.

I want them to fight, but to fight intelligently, not crying on social media with emotional rants targeting the average voter.

Point to a Democratic candidate that has done that.

You keep bitching about things that people aren’t doing, and it’s not clear as to why.

What politician is “crying on social media with emotional rants targeting the average voter?”

OK... basket of deplorables?

There, you happy now?

I seriously don't understand the obsession with making me find a candidate saying shit, when I have gone above and beyond to state that there was overall discipline at the top, it was the bottom that was misbehaving OR tolerating misbehavior.

Does it excuse anything? of course not, they are fascists that even if we start WWIII against them they deserve all of it, the problem for the millionth time is that it is not smart to spew bile in every direction, and this should be stopped, that is all.

I don't care if you are white, brown, black, or chartreuse.  If you are a Christian, a Muslim, Atheist or Christian Scientist.  If you are turned on by men, women, or all of the above.  If you were born in the US or came her from a foreign country.  If you have a family and make less than $200K a year as a household and have less than a $1 million net worth, you have a hell of a lot more in common with everyone else I mentioned than you do with Donald Trump or Elon Musk.

  • You are falling behind while the rich get richer
  • You are a few paychecks or one medical emergency away from financial catastrophe
  • Your kids are being poorly educated by a crumbling public education system
  • You have relatively less than your parents did at your age
  • Your children will have relatively less than you do at your age
  • You have fewer opportunities to make a comfortable living than your parents did
  • Your kids will have fewer opportunities to make a comfortable living than you do

If democrats are to ever be relevant again, they need to start there and fucking stay there.  You want to know how many voters that is?  88% of U.S. households make less than $200K a year and have less than a $1 million net worth.  If Dems simply stick to a platform that puts their economics first, second and third and quit taking the culture war bait from Republicans, they win.  Bigly.

No, because libtards and intellectual elites are RUINING this COUNTRY!

There are INFINITY illegal aliens here now and they're ALL using Medicaid to become girls and steal Olympic medals from our straight, white, Christian daughters!

Why isn't anyone in the LIBERAL MEDIA talking about this?!

See, the problem is that it doesn't matter how many good points you make.  Trying to talk them out of the ideas in their head is like trying to explain to a schizophrenic person that Martians aren't actually talking to him through the fillings in his teeth.

Let me rephrase the entire argument, the key strategy of fascism is that the opponent is both omnipotent and weak, the omnipotent is to cause fear, the weak is to motivate action and you will be quickly rewarded.

It is essentially impossible to alter the former, but we can sure as hell not appear weak. Aside from all the pillow screaming I documented above, doing stupid slogans like "republicans are weird" makes us look weak. Pillow screaming makes us look weak.

"Strength, Discipline, Intelligence" drill this slogan into the heads of every single democrat both voter and rank and file, and if they can't stand up to the standard they need to provide support for those that can.

I think you agree so I'm speaking to Linux, BO&W, etc., but this also means not validating their culture war bait. It doesn't mean throwing trans people, gay people, minorities, immigrants or whoever under the bus, because that (1) tells your base you don't believe in the values you profess (and depresses their turnout) and (2) tells undecided voters that Republicans are right about those issues and their importance.

Not long ago DEI was just some corporate CYA shit so if a company got sued for discrimination it could go "but we had this antidiscrimination training!" to avoid legal liability. Republicans seized on that and were able to make it a huge culture war issue because (1) the media knowingly helped them and (2) Dems had no idea how to respond because too many Dems' instinctive reaction to that shit is to say "Republicans are right about this!" and run away from it. The obvious response was along the lines of "they're lying about anti-discrimination training that's been going on for 30+ years to distract from their goal to [slash medicaid/eliminate social security/etc.]"

It's so funny that you diagnose "don't appear weak" correctly and immediately jump from there to "the most effective political attack a Democrat came up with in 12 years was bad."

When Republicans begin hyperventilating about a Democratic political attack and you get centrist pundits like Jake Tapper asking why you're being so divisive, that's not weak. That's the type of thing to double down on.

Well a) it did not win the election so I don't know how you can give it that title.

B) It is inherently weak, it is like saying that they are a creep, or disgusting (to loop it back on asmongold).

Visualize a manly man, would he ever shit like that? or would he say the stuff Kamala said "If you are going to say something, say that to my face!"

That should have been the campaign slogan force those 70 debates if they really were doing that badly in the polls, not "ew republicans are like sooo weird!"

Rereading this post and hoping the phrasing isn't insensitive to @troph, etc.  I know the fight for your rights is a REAL issue that you are fighting every day and it is not my intent to diminish at all.

Just trying to convey that issues like wage inequality, healthcare, education, etc. are issues that ALL of us, regardless of race, sexual preference, or religion, have to deal with and we should encourage elections to focus on those rather than the ones that divide us.

I’ve said it plenty of times.

I mean we need to roll back the dangerous shit going on now and there are plenty of social issues to care about but most everything the LGBTQ community needs (yes cisgender gay men too) is the passing of the equality act, that’s it. BUT it doesn’t have to be a top 5 issue it just needs to be taken care of when the opportunity comes.

don’t campaign on it, avoid direct questions about LGBTQ folk and when pressed say some generic thing about everyone deserves an equal shake and then move on to billionaires taking from us. Then shift right back into economic issues.

I’ve said this countless times. It’s not offensive. And if you knew me in real life you’d know exactly how strategic I am. I want the law passed not first billing or equal air time in a stump speech.

I’ll go a step further. I don’t want to fucking talk about trans issues AT ALL. Not one fucking minute talking about it. In my day to day life, it doesn’t come up. I parent, I love my wife (no I won’t give you our onlyfans page url), I work, I volunteer,  I play and that’s it.  Ain’t no body got time for this shit. Shut up, pass the law, shut it down and move on. Like when my wife came out, her dad in a Marine colonel sort of way said, “this is who she is, we love her, so we accept her. That’s the last I’ll hear of it.” And that conservative family moved on and it was never an issue again, in 19 fucking 87.  It’s not hard. We can do this. We have to, we have way bigger fish to fry than grandstanding about who people are. For the love of fucking god what I would give for this shit to be a nonissue.

The thing about this is that the way to stop talking about trans issues as national political issues is to make a righteous stand when asked about trans issues. E.g. if Jake Tapper is interviewing a candidate and trying to goad them into throwing trans people under the bus, the response isn't to tepidly try to change the topic, but to attack Jake for thinking trans folks don't deserve the same rights as everyone else and that denying them their basic rights is more important than [whatever]. Most if not all GOP culture war bullshit depends quite a bit on the complicity of mainstream media types who launder GOP culture war bullshit (that jibes with their own beliefs more than they'd like to publicly admit) as views of "ordinary Americans."

Yeah but you do it with that Obama “WTF” energy. Jake, come on man. You really going to sit here in 2025 and say people shouldn’t get a fair shake because of an immutable characteristic? Are you serious? Look man, I like you, I’ll still grab a beer with you, but you’re just wrong on this man. And worse you’re distracting us from the real issues … do you know that the state of Texas and a bunch of others keep turning down Medicaid funding to help their poor with healthcare? And now their Republican counter parts in Washington are gutting Medicaid for the rest of the country to fund billionaire tax cuts. These politicians on the right then claim to be for the working poor and middle class. Why on gods green earth are they doing that? Why aren’t you focusing on this Jake. Do better man.

Jake follows up, so Ms troph are you in favor of passing legislation to protect trans people?

Jake, what part of what I just said didn’t make sense to you? Of course we shouldn’t discriminate against any group of people based on inherent characteristics. This is a 5 minute issue, let’s leave people alone, let them be, and move on. Yes I support the equality act, but dang man, can we talk about issues that impact ALL of us like these god awful and mistaken tariffs?

It's more than hard.  It's impossible.

Unless your messaging includes a strong dose of hate, and telling people who to hate, it will never leave the starting blocks.  Hate is the only currency of any social value these days.  Trying to trade in anything else is like trying to engage in commerce using your bottlecap collection as money.

Not enough.

See, there's a second part that's really, really important: Americans are pathetic and worthless creatures.  A message of hate is only effective if it is ALSO easy to execute on.  And who is it easy to hate, and execute that hate on?  That's right....the weak and marginalized.  Hating the powerful?  Nope.  Too much work.  The powerful can fight back.

We are Americans.  We ONLY punch down, we never punch up.

The problem is us, top to bottom.  We are a worthless, contemptible people, which means we only do worthless, contemptible things.

1) Do you think that anyone whose vote actually might matter will ever watch that?

2) there is no 2).  The information ecosystem is done.  Spew hate at fucking tsunami levels, on a select number of social media and podcast channels.  That's it.  That's the entire plan.  Either follow it as a counter, or be toast.

120k views in less than 6 hours - so yeah it'll be viewed millions of times by millions of people and it'll shape the way they talk about things.

Add in every other major podcast or streamer that leans right and you're talking 10s of millions of people watching that and other shows like it. Whether you like it or not those shows resonate and influence 18-45 year old voter block. Where as most of the lefts major podcast and streamer block is tailored to women.....that's the problem.

Some of you don't understand what MacGuffins are. It really doesn't matter what marginalized groups say or do, the resentful faction will always find something to complain about and like Charlie Brown with his football, liberals and moderates keep falling for this prank. The problem is not trans people, or immigrants, or minorities. It never has been.

Please stop taking conservatives at their word. They will never have your best interests in mind. They want you to lose as much as possible so they can continue looting us.

Fuck my life.

Watching you guys go round and round about shit that won't make a fuck is quite entertaining. You aren't saving the sons of Trumpers. Full stop. Quit trying to. All that happens when Dems try and placate to centrists and moderate Republicans is you alienate part of your base. Most of the people sitting out elections are people who voted for change, got nothing, and now threw their hands up and said fuck it. You don't need to dangle a carrot over the fence, you just need proper motivation for the people on our side to get off the couch. Obama proved that.
