Probably posted somewhere already, but this sucks.  We always sent these to customers for Christmas.  Anyone know of a good alternative?

Urgent Notice

On the evening of November 6th, we experienced a catastrophic fire at our shipping facility. Both our inventory and our ability to ship this season have been destroyed. We are thankful this occurred after hours and no one was injured! Unfortunately we will not have any turkeys to be shipped or picked up this Thanksgiving or Christmas Season.

We are working around the clock on refunding all orders that were scheduled to deliver after November 6th, and are deeply sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please know we have already begun the process of rebuilding and will be back stronger than ever in 2021. If you would like to stay updated, please fill out your contact information below.

We are grateful to have the best customers in the world, and are proud to have been a part of your holiday tradition for so many years. Please invite us back to your table next year!

Thank you,

Sam Greenberg

Ha, I’ve seen this posted on on social media from several people I know from Tyler. Never heard of them before this... I don’t know if it’s more of an east Texas thing or not, but if you’re trying to stick to 903, I’ve got a couple friends from Longview that talk a lot about bear creek smokehouse.

I’ve had Greenberg turkeys twice — one was so smoky and gross it was nearly inedible and the other was the best non-fried turkey I’ve ever eaten.

they have had QA issues on and off for 20+ years - when they are good they are amazing. when you get a not great one you never want to go back.

if you want to buy a smoked Turkey everyone I know in ETX recs Bear Creek - CALL TODAY, they are getting slammed.

but the pro move is to call Bodacious on Mobberly and order a turkey breast (I think they do a full turkey if you are interested but the breast is the way to go)

If you want to order one from elsewhere a ton of the craft BBQ places are selling smoked ones these days.

either way, sucks for them...refunded every order not shipped before 11/6 evidently.

Interesting.  My family, my wife's family, lots of other folks I know get their turkeys every year and have for many decades.  They sell them at places like Central Market during the holidays, too.  I've gotten several as corporate gifts - and given a few.  Kinda like the Goode Co. Pecan Pie.

They're nothing special but for the nostalgia/name.  NB Smokehouse sells better turkeys if you gotta go that way.

If you don't wanna fuck with a turkey yourself, best bet is to have your local BBQ place cook one you bring to them.  Did that every year in Austin and Dallas for the guest turkey.

I called to tell them to keep my money (we ordered two - one for each holiday) and they refused. It’s one of the nicest group of humans you’ll ever come across. This tragedy happened at the worst possible time.

Repeat from other thread:

I live in Tyler.  We used to get them as gifts.  We'd always give them away to one of my wife's most needy clients.  I never cared for them.  Had a friend in the same camp who used to say they made Greenberg Smoked turkeys by hanging a bunch of them in a house and burning the house down around them.  Probably too soon for this comment, but Surly gonna Surly.

Sorry for the family and the blow to their business as well as to the people for whom those turkeys are a Thanksgiving tradition.

Bear Creek always was better in my opinion, but opinions and such that they are.

Pretty sure Stanley's will smoke you a turkey for Thanksgiving as well.

I went with Goode & Co. this year. $75 for a smoked whole bird. Another $30 to carve it.

Stuffing and gravy from Ragin’ Cajun. Pecan, pumpkin, and sweet potato pies from The Pie Factory in Bellaire. We’ll make the sides and rolls.

Hm they ship. I was set on Bear Creek but this is a good alternative (I am in Pennsylvanian so it has to be shipped).
