If you just read the headline and innocently think, well, hopefully it's just about a random bump in a crowd. It's not

According to court documents, the man brought the child to his house on the pretext of giving her guava in December 2016. While there, he touched her chest and tried to remove her underwear, according to the judgment.
He was found guilty of sexual assault and sentenced to three years in prison in a lower court, but then appealed to the High Court.

In her judgment on January 19, Justice Ganediwala found that his act "would not fall in the definition of 'sexual assault,'" which carries a minimum three year prison term which can be extended to five years.

"Considering the stringent nature of punishment provided for the offense, in the opinion of this court, stricter proof and serious allegations are required," she wrote. India's Protection of Children From Sexual Offenses Act 2012 does not explicitly state that skin-on-skin contact is needed to constitute the crime of sexual assault.

How is 3 years time even "stringent?"  Seems to be a shitty ruling. Probably some caste info missing. The top castes can still do almost whatever they want to lower castes in spite of supposed modernization.

Damn, I didn't know Waco was in the middle of India.

Waco is in Texas.

Sexual Assault in Texas (and other states) is defined by penetration of the anus, vagina, or mouth.  (Sec 22.011)

As with India, there are other crimes (Indecent Assault, for example) that apply if there is no penetration.  Indecent Assault is a Class A Misdemeanor.

The law dogs can correct me if I am missing something.

This is horrifying.

He's talking to the same handful of people. I can go to any place in the US and find dozens of people who will say the same shit. Maybe its more widespread in India, but the views of a huge amount of men in the US is just as abhorent.

Here is the story

What is a grievance officer?

Quote

The new rules were announced in February which requires large social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp to follow additional due diligence, including appointment of a chief compliance officer, nodal contact person and resident grievance officer.

On February 25, the government had announced tighter regulations for social media firms, requiring them to remove any content flagged by authorities within 36 hours and setting up a robust complaint redressal mechanism with an officer being based in the country.

So basically government controlled content

Modi's government is the most fascist while in the garb of democracy. Trump could have only dreamt of what Modi has achieved, from complete take over of the supreme court and the election commission to police forces and media outlets. He has only two motives, oppress Muslims and make it the only election platform to get elected, and loot India by wholesale takeover of all resources through his select few billionaires (the Ambanis). He has taken over media and weaponized Whatsapp/Facebook. He hasn't held a press conference since 2014 and many of his elected party members (state and central) are murderers and criminals, who openly call of genocide and terrorize various communities. He has successfully bribed/threatened multiple whole state elected governing parties to switch to his party (imagine Trump bribing/threatening multiple blue states elected ruling representatives/government to become Republican overnight and bow down to him). His party is completely anti-science with cow-worship as the most visible of many weird practices where people drink cow urine and cover themselves in cow dung thinking it will cure them of many diseases. He famously led ringing of the bells and clanging of pots to scare away covid when pressed to address the pandemic last year. The less said about their take on caste system, the better.

He has destroyed India, which was a multi-faceted jewel with hundreds of religious, cultural, linguistic and ethnic hues with thousands of years of history. Indians have traditionally been peaceful people that know how to live cheek by jowl with people that are very different from each other, and if this hate filled campaign doesn't end, the outcome will be worse than what happened in Germany during 30s and 40s; and it won't just effect Muslims, but also many of traditional lower castes.

There's only one reason the government wants that. If I were these social media companies, I'd find some poor low-caste rickshaw drivers. Pay them each a 1000 rupees, and hire them for these positions.  They could even keep on being rickshaw drivers. It wouldn't matter as it would just be titles. Then when the government (inevitably) comes and arrests them for some anti-Modi tweets or whatever, just go out and hire some more drivers to replace them. Those companies could keep that up forever.
