You two spank each other with Vonnegut paperbacks?  Not judging.  He's as intellectually stimulating as my wife's ass is overall stimulating.

I’ve only been banned once and only temporarily. That was from a Buckeye board for saying a bad Buckeye basketball team shouldn’t go to the NCAA Tournament because that would send them the wrong message that they had achieved some sort of success. They didn’t deserve it. I said I hoped they didn’t go and some mod took it personally and gave me a temporary ban.

They weren’t invited to the tourney.

My next door neighbor is a mid 50's 2nd/3rd Gen alum, donor, season ticket holder in multiple sports, etc.

We were talking a few weeks ago about expectations in football and basketball, and I asked him if he posts of lurks on any message board.  He said "Yea!  Hornfans.com".

I looked at him puzzled, and he spelled it for me.  I said "yea, I know how to spell it, I didn't know it was still in operation.  I thought it shut down a decade ago."

Apparently he just discovered it and has really found a home.  The posts at the beginning of this thread scare the shit out of me about what sort of human he is.

Not really.  Apples/Oranges to significant extent.  FB enjoys immunities that a bar owner doesn't.  Those immunities need to go away.  They absolutely edit and control content which makes them a publisher.

You go down that road, then you might as well apply that to Surly, to sites like Free Republic or TexAgs that ban people of a certain political bent.

Haven't checked facebook regularly in years. I got to experience facebook's golden era where it was only for college students with a .edu before the infiltration of boomers & ppl from other social media ghettos.

I didn't go down any road.  Don't do FB and don't really care.

FB is the one going down "roads".  And let's not pretend that FB doesn't ban people for having a political bent.  They're Black Belt Ninjas in that endeavor.

Fuck 'em.

FB isn’t a publisher. That’s absurd. It’s the same reason Immamac doesn’t allow porn. It doesn’t make him a publisher. Advertising dollars. Just because you don’t allow obscene, dangerous, harmful, and inciting content on your platform doesn’t mean you’re a publisher. Saying if you moderate the platform makes you a publisher is absurd. You took down the kiddie porn, you’re a publisher. It’s an absurd argument. If you don’t like the private companies rules, then start your own website. If you’re arguing that websites should be liable for the content of their users, then all comments from the internet will no longer be allowed because people are terrible

Wow how lucky that was for us!

I don't care what you think of Hugo's politics; getting banned from Tiger Droppings should be worn like a badge of honor. That place is a fucking cesspool of stupidity and ignorance.

I find it hard to believe that FB has ever banned anyone if they haven’t banned my Aunt.  All she ever posts is Trump stolen election bullshit and COVID vaccine conspiracy theories.  She once told me that Trump couldn’t be a racist because she saw him kiss a n***** baby on tv.

I spent my teens and twenties playing in a band, and had a number of videos on YouTube dating back to 2006 when it started being a thing that obviously contained our music. They got pulled for a bit for copyright infringement (for my band’s original music) and are now.. I think back up but monetized. Google not really doing anything wrong there because I guess at some point our music was catalogued with the audio fingerprints or whatever, but it was irksome when they were down and the old music didn’t exist anywhere else, and irksome now on a theoretical basis that my dozens of plays are generating literal pennies for whoever gets that money now.
