Never mind Austin, WTF is wrong with my quiet Brushy Creek neighborhood by Round Rock?

Double murder by a juvenile early this morning just one block from our house:

http://www.kxan.com/news/local/round-rock/two-found-dead-in-home-outside-of-round-rock-juvenile-in-custody/

We were wondering what the Wilco sheriff’s department alert that blared loudly from all our phones at 4:30am this morning was all about.

Saw the cove blocked off with the crime scene tape and the Austin TV station cameras across the street when we happened to drive by there to & from dinner in Round Rock this afternoon. Just now read online what occurred. We don’t know anyone in that part of the neighborhood.

Family drama. Not some dipshit just randomly shooting people. This shit happens many many times every day in this country. I'm not arguing with you. Just pointing out what a fucked up country we live in.

Y'all hear about the grandfather & grandson shooting & killing each other in Circle C on the 23rd? Not a very merry Christmas for that family.

The trail is fine and ChickenSandwich is clearly full of shit, afraid of his own shadow, and clearly never uses it.

I'm on it multiple times per week sometime 5:30-7:00a.m. and other times after work well past the 5:30p.m. timeframe he cites as being so unsafe.

We had this same conversation on this thread 6-9 months ago. When asked for receipts he had none for this supposed "after 5:30" Thunderdome version of the trail he rants about.

It's super fucking laughable.

Was about to post something similar. I'm out riding 2 nights a week from 7pm on and there is no shortage of women running the trail.

sounds like something the rainey street ripper would say.

All clear on Liberty Walk except my liver got shot.

Treated and released though!

Shades of the same type of stories - from the same outlets/Youtube accounts - about “EUROPE OVERRUN! NO-GO ZONES EVERYWHERE!”…stories I read as I walked around many of the cities they warned about.

No homeless people in our part of downtown. Not really any people really. The government just takes up that space and there is nothing, barely any restaurants to eat lunch in. I have been commuting down there since 2004 and cannot really recall seeing any homeless people shoot up.

Now when I go to say 6th and I-35 it's different.

I was south of the capitol grounds, and would frequent the RR district for lunch. Saw many a homeless person between 11th and 6th (thanks in part to the homeless shelter) and their shenanigans. Lady pooping on the sidewalk in broad daylight (just north of 11th and RR). Shooting up in the alley next to Elysium / Sip Haus. Many of the RFL crew hanging out on Congress running around talking to themselves. I admit, the few times I was north of the capitol, it was much quieter, but south was definitely ripe with homeless and drug addicts.

That was all I was saying.

For the most part they aren't harming anybody. Except the pooping lady. We haven't made being poor illegal yet in the United States.

Fuck these useless bike lanes in the goat ass. They took a lane on cameron and on the street i drive to get to it. Since we lost the right turn lane traffic gets 15 cars deep at the light if someone is waiting to go left.

So fucking stupid. Oh and if theres a bus just pull over and suck on your tailpipe for the sweet release of death.

At least thousands of bicycle commuters are now safely using it. Right?

I spent the 2 week holiday break "hiking" the Greenbelt and the few "hikes" around the area, enjoying downtown restaurants and bars, taking morning walks around the 3 mile loop of the LBL trail, and playing the awesome local Muni golf courses.

The leadership of this city of a bunch of dipshits. There are many valid complaints about this city. All of the shit combined cannot ruin the awesomeness of this city.

I say it often, if it weren't for Austin, I would've moved out of Texas a decade ago. It's the only redeeming thing about living in Texas. Not redeeming enough to retire here, but good enough to keep me around another 3 years until we can retire and move tf out of Texas.

Good trend line on per capita rate. One of the safest cities in the country.

Not to mention that "AuSTiN iS ruINeD!?!" people ignore that Austin today has a lower per capita murder rate, than it was from 1980 - 1996/1997. I believe the 70s were worse, too.

What happened in 2021? Covid-induced rage?

The murderers had been in lock down and had a backlog on their "to kill" list.

It was nation-wide. And I've still not seen any hypothesis as to WHY that has been shown to have any real legs.

Was a nationwide trend

The United States homicide rate continues to soar in 2021...

'Shock to the system' from COVID, George Floyd protests, rising gun crime, poverty and racism are seen as root causes.

Its also pretty astounding that the 2023 murder rate in Houston was higher than anything in the past 45 years in Austin.

Houston, TX Crime Rate and Statistics [2026 Updated]

According to statistics from the FBI and Security.org, Houston, Texas, remains the fourth most dangerous city in the United States when it comes to violent crimes.

Houston is way bigger, way poorer in areas and way more desperate and hopelessness in some areas and way more criminal and poor, so why is that astounding to you?

I would love to see that same graph with Town Lake Drowning Victims annually, and the per capita overlay.

The recent crime arguments regarding Austin have been ridiculous. The only people buying it are people who don't live here. There are plenty of justifiable beefs with city management, most notably in the transportation/roadways area, but crime isn't that big of a deal here. It's evident to anyone who lives in Austin and has lived in any other sizable city. The only caveat I would add is the large number of illegal driving incidents we deal with, thanks to a lack of police presence on the roads. But that's not the crime the jaggoffs pushing the narrative are talking about.

Per Instagram, new Buzbee presser tomorrow about the west campus girl who fell from 17 stories

Uh, the murder rate spike in 2021 is easily explained: mandatory covid vaccines.

WTF? Why are dipshits like this dude not in jail? What the fuck does it take?

According to court records, Vences has previously faced 33 criminal cases in Travis County, nine felony cases and 24 misdemeanor cases, since 2005. APD said Vences was arrested Sunday by the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force on an unrelated felony warrant. Police said he has multiple prior convictions, including assault of a family member and multiple drug possession convictions.

aggy gonna aggy. The story will be "while we did not find any evidence that it was a homicide, what we found was incompetence/a vast burnt orange media conspiracy blah blah blah."

Buzbee is what happens when a fart gets fitted for a suit.
