Total posnobe unless he’s too dumb to realize how it came off.  But this guy is always a victim.   Suing a school because he’s an alcoholic.

For sure. The response should have been “PK is 1A and muschamp is 1B, Texas will significantly miss PK. He’s been amazing. I wish him the best. Muschamp is going to help us not miss a beat. He’s a high energy coach, a former HC who will take care of business. He fielded some elite defenses last time he wore the burnt orange, I’m excited for next season. Next question”

Whoa now. I mean we all like PK but his side of the ball was just as much a problem THIS season. Sans OU, that Florida- Arkansas run was not good defense. It's not just about points scored, it's that you couldn't put the lid on teams when you needed to. It wasn't that long ago that 3rd and PK was a running joke. We were truly solid defensively for a single year, largely based on personnel. We weren't doing anything special schematically.

Again, Champ hasn't been calling games for a good minute so things may not work out, but when he was here it was obvious that dudes understood their assignment, played fast, and aggressive. We played some exotics too with split field coverages. Mainly though, when it was time to man up and get after it we did. What it looks like is Sark wants someone he can give full autonomy to on their side of the ball and he can focus more on offense. Georgia has that with Mike Bobo.

You and others continue to miss the point of the post. Go back, read mine then read yours.

The move had the exact desired effect. Sark gets to keep his shittastic GM and OL coach and everyone is talking about the defense which only went downhill when Akina was brought in. Who's decision was it to bring on Akina? That question is not really the point the point is we will get the exact same bullshit on offense we have and there was zero indication or any evidence provided that Sark was putting energy into the defensive side. Thats the new narrative.

I'm sure we'll continue to ignore the real issue in our discussions and continue to talk about Muschamp who was co-DC before he moved off. People keep forgetting that reality.

Advantage Sark and his ego. I'm done with the topic as the results vs OSU in the first game will tell the tale.

Not to get in an argument but you think Muschamp was put out to pasture?

Also, taking PK out of it, you don’t think Muschamp could give us a bump in portal and high school recruiting? He seems to be connected and has always brought energy in those areas.

Well he was co-DC that quit to "spend time with his family". What's the reality, I'm sure I don't know but that's an extremely questionable reason to step down from being a co-DC and giving up all that money.

As for recruiting, there is a ton of pseudo science in that world. It might, but it might not.

But ya missed the entire point of my post. This move has everyone talking about the Texas Defense when the OL, RZ, TOP and running game have been the biggest and most consistent issues for Sark during his entire tenure.

I agree the offense isn’t where it should be. However, we didn’t lose in 2023 because of the offense. Last year the defense let a garden gnome rush for 200 yards on us. We let Klubnik throw for 336 on us. We’ve had 1 really good defensive season out of 4. Akina really has nothing to do with it. Offensively the we made the changes schematically that we needed to help Arch. The rest is bad interior Oline evals and not trying to upgrade them the entire time Majors was here. Both sides of the ball need to be addressed but no point in pulling our hair out over Sark calling plays, dude will take play calling to his grave. Take your wins where you can get them.

Oh, I know what's coming this season. Sark has made it clear his ego is what matters most, and that's never changing.

I've accepted the reality that is Sark. I just don't like it. Hope I'm wrong but hope in one hand poop in the other.

Well Quinn was good enough to push through the bullshit. Arch appears to be able to cover for it too. In a different way but the same. We should be on the playoff next season warts and all. I feel your frustration my dude.

It’s the pretext I had a problem with. You misrepresented Muschamp’s reputation in order to make your point. Also, hires are not mutually exclusive so we could still improve the offensive staff.

Ill wager whatever amount you're willing that no further changes are made to the offensive staff.

And you WERE looking for an argument despite stating otherwise.

I have no idea about staff changes but I could see a world where WR and OL are changed.

I had a long response and it went 503 crash on me.

So... tldr given our schedule we certainly should make the CFP and CCG. It's the results in those that concern me.

I’ve gotten to an enlightened state of mind here. If This new staff change up works I eat crow (no big deal) and we win the MNC!

If this new staff change up don’t work and implode like aggy in the playoffs or don’t make them Sark will be gone and I have the honors and privilege of tricking a bunch of Sark loving Surlies to Rainey Street.

There is no downside. 😃 i been scouting lakes and walking paths all December. 🤘🏼

Is it just not possible to show a little patience and see what other moves Sark might make?

Part of the reason we got a new RB coach and Muschamp so quickly is that both were completely available right now. We didn't have to wait for a playoff team to finish their season to poach a coach. Also, the portal opens in 2 weeks. The makeup of our roster in 2026 is still TBD. Relax.

He doesn't need to give any of us an explanation. But any explanation he gave was going to be met with hoots of derisiion from the denizens of this forum.

Coupled with “he’s drinking again” and “he’s sleeping around to get back at his wife” or “the stress of his wife sleeping with former players is getting to him”

Because some of these people are like totally super connected and know all the real scoop on the program.

This is the exact sort of bullshit messaging I was sold last season.

I'll offer you the same bet I did above. I'll wager any amount of money you like no further changes are made to our offensive staff.

I will relax when the head coach addresses the issues that have plagued his team since he arrived in Austin.

You do realize the "Corch doesn't own us an explanation." And "Have faith in corch!" are exactly things we here at Surly deride aggie for constantly. That "trust corch, he got this, he don't owe you shit, have faith" bullshit is straight up 100% fucking aggie.

Yeah, Sark fucked up the last offseason. No question. He thought he had this program on cruise control and completely whiffed.

So far, the evidence three weeks after the season ended is he's not making that same mistake. WR coach is at least one position where people are expecting a change, though that might be Jackson wanting to go back to NFL. Don't be so confident to offer up that bet to others.

There’s talk that Chris Jackson may bail but I know flood will be here.

I like the additions sark has made.   I like Will, he might be an upgrade but PK was at worst a top ten dc.   Didn’t make sense.  Sark also has no class for throwing him under the bus.

Muschamp was allowed to basically be as involved as he wanted to be at Georgia.

He is at Georgia because his son Jackson played there.  When Jackson graduated and Whit (his younger son) enrolled at Vanderbilt, Muschamp stepped back from a gameday position so he could attend Vanderbilt games.  All of UGA assumed he was another year away from returning to a position or DC role.  Him taking a position at another school is a surprise to them and not a welcome one.

Winning pressers is not what I'm primarily concerned about. Texas has been a top 4-10 team for 3 straight years imo. The biggest issue with the program isn't categorically the offense. It's that when they play a defense that is capable of keeping their LB's free while playing light boxes, Texas becomes one dimensional. Very few teams are capable of this, but Georgia and Ohio State have done it every matchup. Texas hasn't had a single interior lineman that is capable of driving a Buckeye or Bulldog backwards often times not even with a double team. This is the key issue that has to be corrected imo. Quarterback run game can help some, which is probably why Sark has been moving towards mobile qbs. Developing or picking up a transfer  TE/H-back that can actually block with angles and inline would help immensely.

LSU poached the head coach of a team that's in the playoffs. I don't think you need to wait till the season is over to poach an assistant coach but I am willing to be patient and see what other staff changes Sark makes.

It's exactly what I thought was wrong with the offense this year.

I was screaming when we were on offense all season at every sack, every wrong lineup, every negative run, every missed assignment and every dropped pass. You should have heard me: "SARK HAS TO BABYSIT THE DEFENSE AND HAS NO TIME TO CALL GREAT PLAYS, OR MAKE SURE THE RIGHT PLAYERS ARE IN THE GAME!!!! GET A HEAD COACH FOR THE DEFENSE SO HE CAN FOCUS ON THE OFFENSE!!!!!!! 😡

I'll believe it when I see it and if I'm wrong pay my debts, eat my crow and happily celebrate our new OL coach, GM and play calling duties shift if they happen.

Edit - Now if you'll excuse me, I have some filling and delicious aggie tears to consume.

and if we had a fg kicker against Georgia we win that game no overtime. and if we take the points against Ohio st instead of going for it we probably win that game. our oline may be shit to everyone but they were the better unit on that day.
