I just watched the first episode of Clone Wars and I just don’t think I can do it. That was awful.

I realize this is from months ago, but I had a similar experience with Clone Wars. I forced myself to watch it, because reasons. What folks needed to understand is that the first few seasons, even, are George Lucas literally making a kids show. As the seasons progress, it gets darker, more serious, and much, much better. The sixth season, which happened years years later, is dark and awesome and about as good as SW as it gets. Filoni was in charge completely, and had really found his groove, the same groove you see in Rebels.

If nothing else, try to watch the last half of season 5 and all of season 6. It's just a different show.

Season 7 is some serious and very grown-up storytelling. The last four episodes of season 7 are up there with ESB and R1 and Andor with some of the best Star Wars made

Ah. I meant Season 7, but said Season 6. My mistake.

Yeah, the entire back half of the LAST season is fucking intense shit. Agree with your take completely.

The Siege of Mandalore story arc (S7 last 4 eps) is the best SW content since the original trilogy. I say this as a huge Andor and R1 fan. If you stuck with the series from its first episode in 2008, until that finale in 2020, those last 4 episodes really delivered. Overwhelmingly satisfying.

I've enjoyed the Ahsoka series, but I'm really critical of certain elements of that series as a result of the CW finale and Ahsoka and Rex's characters in CW.

Andor is top shelf SW content too, and I enjoyed the hell out of it, but after 12 years of CW and Rebels, the investment paid off in CW S7.

Covid got it, but the last 4 episodes of Clone Wars should have been a theatrical release. It would have worked perfectly as a 2 hour movie.

Absolutely agree...the last season of Clone Wars, and some of Rebels(Twighlight of the Apprentice, Twin Suns, the Final Arc of the show) are to me, the best SW theirs been.

And I LOVE Andor and the first season or so of Mandalorian.

Yup, and would have been #2 on my list of SW films (just above Andor and behind only ESB). Those final four episodes of S7 are so damn good.

The fight between her and Maul was some of the best animation I've ever seen...i beleive they actually cgi'd the real training fight between the models

Yup. Part of the reason why that fight is so insane is Filoni brought Ray Park in to choreograph it and had him “CGI’d up,” so it really was him in that final battle.

So I can’t commit to watching it all.  Given this post and your last post shouldn’t just watch season 6 and 7?

You’ll miss lots of nuance, but sure. I’d watch the last 4-5 episodes of season 5. You need to see Ashoka leave the Jedi order.

Clone Wars is a weirdly produced show that was released in non-chronological order. By season 6 I believe it's mainly in order, and season 7 is happening in parallel with ROTS. It brings a TON of characterization that was frankly missing in the films. There's some good skip lists and essential episode lists that can skip the less good episodes.

But if you don't watch anything, WATCH THE LAST 4 OF SEASON 7! Although if you don't know Ahsoka's whole journey you'll be missing some context

Yep i knew I saw that somewhere because the fight does not look purely Computer Generated as much as 2 people really fighting that they mocapped.  Really good fight.

Basically the most important thing to see at the end.

Yeah they did a great job.

I'm about 6 months behind, and have not seen much outside of episodes 1-7, but this show kicks ass. (Have not seen Rogue One)

I watched most of season 1 while taking care of a baby, or quietly in bed. Season 2 has me hooked big time, so I'm paying much closer attention. Had to rewatch the end of episode 5 with the rhydo, because the intensity was not effectively captured with distractions.

I just started episode 9, but have to put it on hold since the wife isn't joining me on this one. Somewhat of a relief since she is content watching 20 minutes of a show per day. I'm catching up on the thread now as I go, but should have joined the discussion as it was going. So good...

Googling "Best TV show of 2025" I see Andor listed many times.

Can you watch Season 2 without seeing Season 1? Wife's not a Star Wars fan (I know, I fucked up) so I doubt I can get her through season 1 just to see 2.

I mean if you want to miss great television and not understand all the previous connections that matter in season 2 then by all means let your wife put your balls in her purse. Just watch it by yourself...you user name connotes that you are used to having to take care of yourself.

Andor is a Star Wars show that non-Sw fans will enjoy. Definitely start with season 1. The seasons are broken up mostly in 3 episode arcs.Try to watch 3 a night.

You’ll just end up with 800 “who is that? Why is he doing that? What’s the point of this” if she lacks any context at all

The prison storyline was so good in Season 1 that it would be a shame to not watch it.

If she can't do season 1, she can't do season 2. I felt that of the two seasons, season 1 is far less "Star Wars" than the other, because you have a lot of rebel alliance stuff going on.

Honest, they are both brilliant TV in different ways. Give season 1 a go, I have a feeling she will be hooked for both .
