Agree with the consensus that we were taking a flier on Henry and now can spend our resources on a proven portal WR and/or other positions of need like IOL.

We ran up bid! What a win! I'm sure Ohio State or Oregon are definitely hurting for money to spend on recruiting and transfer portal now that we did that!

Hows that working out for you, being a moron?

I’m just repeating the same stupid shit that some people say when this happens. Did I expect to land Henry absolutely not but what I posted that gets posted across Texas boards is laughable.

No, he didn’t. Everything that’s gone on the last two days seems like last minute negotiations mixed with drama manufactured by the 9.95ers.

Or maybe he position coach left which caused him to rethink his situation and then people convinced him to stick with Ohio St. Not everything is fake

He definitely rethought his situation, but he has almost no relationship with Texas, the decision was likely always between Ohio State and Oregon.

Nothing fake about a big $$$ offer. It would've been a bit bizarre if he chose us. It doesnt hurt a single thing to have our hat on the table in a super public announcement. If nothing else it's a signal to other recruits that we are still currently dropping big money.

Sure but it cost us absolutely nothing to get involved with the potential being massive

I don't disagree, but I also don't see the harm in Texas throwing their hat in the ring and being mentioned a team vying for that kind of talent. Also, it tweaks the fuck out of some of the dipshits on this board, and that is its own reward.

Oh, I don’t think it hurts any. I do think it’s funny (tragic?) to see people get their hopes up so much for what should’ve been seen as an incredible longshot.

Jett Walker's tape is just 5 minutes of him running straight ahead through holes you could drive a truck through. It's not even a 1-cut running style, it's like 0-cut. He does have good size, decent straight line speed, and doesn't mind contact. I suppose he's a guy that's happy to come to Texas, play school, get 30 carries a year trucking defenders from SHSU, and be a motherfucker on special teams.

Another Kyle Porter (Katy) incoming

Making other schools spend more money is actually beta shit! I’m a really cool guy!

He's been on campus a couple times, but none recently.  I think this was absolutely a hat on the table, but I also believe there was some consternation re: Hartline leaving and his team wanting some assurances on the backfill of that role

It should be stated the going to rehab part is unsubstantiated. And most of the of the rumors in that thread comes from a lunatic starving for attention.

Well, that's half the football board. I was gonna ask you to be more specific but fuck it, I don't care. That thread was/is embarrassing.

When did Henry Jr visit UT?

So are we still waiting for the “we ain’t done yet” talk of Wednesday to come to fruition or are we, in fact, done with recruiting for this window?

There are still some moving pieces with the LSU defensive staff that could make guys like Lamar Brown and Anderson potentially gettable. Doesn't really matter if they signed with LSU or not; that shit is purely symbolic now. Hopefully their agents are smart enough to have them holding off on any shady contracts until they see who the staff replacements are going to be.

For those that missed it last night there was a report LSU is trying to hire Elijah Robinson (Syracuse DC demoted back to DL coach who used to be the Aggie's DL coach). This is notable because their current DL coach, Kyle Williams, is an absolute badass and the entire reason that Lamar Brown and Anderson have seemingly decided to stick with LSU for now. The fact they are looking at Robinson suggests Williams will be following their DC (Baker) when/if he gets announced as the next Tulane head coach today. Obviously this is whole lot of "ifs" but we could see a situation where LSU loses Williams and fails to hire Robinson. That happens and we should be in as good a position as anyone to try and snipe their two five star DTs.

Of course its also possible they aren't losing Williams and want to add Robinson in a different role as well.

He looks like the best athlete on his team who they decided to make RB.  Chris Whaley was the same way, which ended up just fine.

Why would you cut if you've got a hole you can drive a truck through? The shortest distance between two points is a straight line.

wasn't there supposed to be some flips or surprise commitments today? smh

Every signing day they've said the same thing. " wait for the big suprise" or some such. Every year.  Amd to the best of my recollection,  there has never been a big suprise.

But we are all on here hitting refresh.

Yeah, the big surprise actually came through last year. It usually is bullshit though.

Getting upset and blaming coaches for no surprises is a thing I guess. We’ll have a team ready to compete for a title next year like every year. LFG

I don’t have an expectation at the end of the day on signing day that there is more coming. It’s when the coach and recruiting coordinator say publicly that “we’re not done yet” that puts such an expectation out there and annoys me when they don’t follow through. Just don’t say anything beyond how happy you are with the guys you signed.

Among all the annoying shit that Sark does, saying “we aren’t done” after the first signing day, even if we are done, is very low on the list of grievances I have with this staff. They have to say that shit.

Absolutely, it’s very far down on the list. But it’s annoying and he doesn’t have to say it. If something falls into his lap or he works a flip behind the scenes, surprise us.
