Damnit, Martin House…

No ingredient is off limits for Martin House Brewing Co.

The Fort Worth brewery has made barbecue sauce beer, pizza beer, hot dog water seltzer and Cotton-Headed Ninny-Muggins, an ode to the movie Elf with maple syrup, M&Ms and spaghetti. Just last month, it unveiled a divisive Real Mayo Beer.

That list will soon get more outrageous. Martin House is collaborating with Texas icon Fletcher’s Corny Dogs to create a new mustard brew.

Brewers started with a sour base, then added corn, several giant tubs of mustard from Restaurant Depot and a secret ingredient: pickle brine from Fort Worth favorite Best Maid Pickles.

Fletcher’s Mustard beer tastes like mustard with a boozy kick, said Shugg Cole, the brewery’s marketing director. Its alcohol content is 5.5%.

“When you have a corndog, you’ve got to have mustard,” Cole said. “This beer is the perfect drink to go with your corny dog.”

For its release, Martin House is planning a hot dog-themed party June 10 called Glizzy Festwith a John Cougar Mellencamp cover band, food trucks, a dunk tank and a hot dog eating contest. Fletcher’s Mustard Beer will be available on tap and in cans. A new permanent food truck, Barley by Rye, will also be on-site.

Depending on its reception, Cole said, Martin House might expand distribution of Fletcher’s Mustard beer statewide.

“It’s awesome. It’s the bomb,” he said. “We can’t wait to get this one out there.”

I really can't understand AB-Inbev's fascination with diluting their brands.

Do Bud Light drinkers really want Bud Light Seltzer?  Do Seltzer drinkers crave the seltzer experience that only Bud Light can offer?  Sub in Hard Soda and any of the other shit they have slapped Bud Light on.

With the Busch Light fruit editions, they do it seasonally and in a limited fashion.  There's seemingly pretty strong demand (they've done Busch Light Apple the past few falls).

In regards to those Bud Light Seltzers and Hard Sodas, I also don't get it.  I've seen people drink it, but they weren't people who were necessarily dyed in the wool beer drinkers.  They were people who generally drink seltzers and malternatives.
