Good to hear. Any pussy schools still fighting it need to be publicly shamed.

This should be a no-brainer if the money is right.

SEC fans rejoice - one fewer cupcake game every season, home & homes with errbody every 4 years.

No

IDGAF one way or the other, but it's chickenshit to claim 'em now, decades later.

And the 3-6 configuration means OU, aggy and arky every year for us. As it should be.

Curious if this goes into effect for 2026, which 6 of the 7 we haven't played in league play yet would be our 6 non-protected opponents:

Auburn, South Carolina, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Alabama, Mizzou

I would guess Bama is the odd one out, since we played them OOC in 22/23

I bet several other SEC schools will whine like the little Cunts they are, again, that they have more than 3 "special" rivalry games each year that, "they can’t live without," as expected.  Lulz.

Which team(s) in particular? aggy?

They shouldn't claim any SEC games "special", other than UT, LSU, and maybe Arky. But, will LSU claim them?

LSU would probably want Bama, Florida and Arkansas

What about Ole Miss? I thought UF (and/or LSU) wanted to get out of this game annually. I don't think any team can honestly claim more than 3 rivals. I wouldn't cry over losing Arky.

3 + 6 would be fantastic. Bama is probably out but a schedule of OU, aggy, Arkansas, Tennessee, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss and Mizzou is pretty nice.

LSU has been trying to duck Florida for YEARS.  I don't know why, they've had out number shoe.

Most Gators I know enjoy the LSU game.   They want it on the schedule.  But it has been a brutal schedule as of late

But, do y'all consider LSU a rival?

Florida's 3 SEC rivals should include UGA, TN, and who else? I know somebody created a grid for the 3+6 format a while back. Compromises will have to be made for some teams.

For example, who are USCe's 3 SEC rivals? I honestly don't know.

Aggy. It’s historic (since like 2014 lol)

TBH, idc about the other teams as long as we get our 3 legit, historical rivalry games on the schedule. Everyone else can kick rocks and pound sand

It doesn't really matter, SEC gonna fuck the Gata any chance they get.  See Auburn series

It's more like a tier list for me.

Teams to die in a fire:  FSU, UGA, Miami, 10rc

Teams to suffer testicular torsion: LSU, clan, Bama

Teams we don't think about till the week before:  All others

Teams we'd prefer not think about: Georgia Southern/Nebraska

Teams to low key root for when not playing:  Vandy

Not that anyone really cares about Kentucky football, but their rivals are Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Miss St, USCe, UGa doesn't make any sense. And the SEC tried to make Ark and LSU are rivalry when Ark came into the conference. Replace Ole Miss with LSU for Ark. And USCe? They truly don't have a rival except OOC Clemson. Here's my half-assed attempt:

Missouri: Oklahoma, Arkansas, Ole Miss

Arkansas: Missouri, Texas, LSU

Texas A&M: LSU, Texas, Mississippi State

Texas: Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Arkansas

Oklahoma: Texas, Missouri, Florida

LSU: Arkansas, Texas A&M, Alabama

Ole Miss: Mississippi State, Auburn, Missouri

Mississippi State: Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M

Alabama: Auburn, Tennessee, LSU

Auburn: Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss

Vanderbilt: Tennessee, Kentucky, Miss State

Kentucky: Tennessee, Vanderbilt, S Carolina

Georgia: Auburn, Florida, S Carolina

Florida: Georgia, South Carolina, Oklahoma

South Carolina: Florida, Kentucky, Georgia

Well... this is basically the same as the Pods from a few years back, but we don't seem to have a lot of mention of that dreaded word.

It's not really pods because every school doesn't have the same 3 other schools on the schedule.

A true pod of Texas, Arkansas, OU, and Texas A&M schedule would look like:

Texas: Arkansas, A&M, OU

OU: Texas, Arkansas, A&M

A&M: OU, Texas, Arkansas,

Arkansas: OU, Texas, Texas A&M

That's okay, but really, why would OU and Arkansas have to play each other every year?  They don't have longstanding rivalries with one another.

The 3 perma-rivals, on the other hand, can rotate all of that out and make it fit better for each team.  From above:

Arkansas: Missouri, Texas, Ole Miss

Texas A&M: LSU, Texas, Mississippi State

Texas: Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Arkansas

Oklahoma: Texas, Missouri, Florida

But it's not.  It's really not at ALL like pods.  The only similarity is that each team would have 3 teams on the schedule that don't rotate.

There are other examples, starting with the obligatory: all SEC schools (except The University) now wants vandy as a "permanent rival".  Lulz.

I am desperately hoping that the conference balances out our rival games and makes them 1 home, 1 road and 1 neutral each year. This would mean that EITHER aggy or Arkansas will be coming back to DKR in '26.

Please, God, let it be aggy. I want to see their heads explode!

I know it’s silly to think Aggy and bama and then won’t play east Louisiana state and prairie view A&M anymore…but they shouldn’t be doing the week before their rivalry game.

I am sure CDC would like that balance for ticket sales (not that every season isnt sold out anyway).

How do you quantify a “quality” opponent?

I think Sankey defined it as another P4 opponent (or Notre Dame). In this scenario, other FBS opponents, including the new Pac-12, Sun Belt, and American won't cut it. "Strength of Schedule", indeed

The SEC should balance the schedule per your recommendation, but would Sankey's team fuck aggy like that?

I also want it to happen

It would, ultimately, be fair since we got screwed and played at aggy coming in after playing our last game against them there.

But, I'm sure the aggros wouldn't see it that way.
