Yep. You're voting MAGA GOP because they're the only thing standing between the children, virgins, grandmothers, the flag, our precious bodily fluids and the Socialist Dems who want to destroy America. I figured that out, too. I was just wondering if you'd give a straight answer. I figured out that you wouldn't. Still, I didn't want to presume without giving you a chance.

You do show up around here. You're not an idiot. I've pos repped some of your posts and only neg repped maybe one dishonest one.

Perhaps I should give you credit for having at least some sense of shame because you're not comfortable stating your political reasoning out loud.

Oddly, written without rancor.

He hates that this country has so many brown people in it. He hates that women are allowed out of the kitchen and into the workplace. He hates that women are not subservient to men, like the good book tells them to be. He loves the Jesus loves capitalism, guns, and freedom, but only for fascists. He loves that Jesus hates poor people, Grace through love, and commie bastards. He loves that Trump is a no integrity piece of shit who also hates brown and poor people. Trump is not remotely a KKKristian, but by God, he's doing the Lord's work by hating brown people.

Now that we got that out of the way, what other reason could you have for voting GOP?

Well, post #41 says you loathe people who vote in a party that isn't racist, supports equal rights for women, supports female body autonomy, supports gun control, and hates fascism. So, uh, post #41.

Read posts #35 and #41

This thread does have potential. As an independent, I’m desperate to understand why someone would vote Republican at this point given the extremity, obstructiveness, and incompetence that the Republican Party is currently demonstrating.

However , I’m open to a real, substantive viewpoint. So why won’t you provide one? Your views may get shit on by the partisans on the left, but those of us who are moderate independents will give it an honest review. I think there are three of us on the entire site.

No it doesn't.  It says I loathe specific people, not all people who vote D.

Your refusal to answer a question continues, and we all know why you can't answer a straight question. Because they're THOSE views. But here's yet another chance to prove everyone wrong: Exactly which specific people do you loathe? Feel free to add why you loathe them.

Pretty simply straightforward question.

I used to be a moderate independent. Then one of our two parties self-immolated, leaving me a Democrat. Same goes for a ton of other posters on this board.

Perhaps we need a separate thread on how anyone can still be an independent at this point.

And a gaggle non famous loudmouths.

"I've never once said in a post that I hate brown people, or women's rights, or all democrats."

"Ok, who do you hate?"

/Posts a ton of pics of women who support women's right's brown people, and a vocal democrat."

Very persuasive. When you say "loudmouths" and don't actually give any actual further clarity on who you hate and why, and just post pictures, well, guess what you've just confirmed that which you passionately deny.

It's whoever Fox News tells him to hate at any given moment. Pretty sure he was outraged at Justin Trudeau a couple years ago during the trucker's convoy. I'd bet my sister's cherry he doesn't know shit about Canadian policy outside of that episode.

I'm always open to learning about and discussing other perspectives, but the problem is that @Incredulity refuses to define his perspective, so it's really pointless in this case.

The basic stance seems to be, I hate the democrats, but won't/can't say why, and I support the GOP, but won't/can't say why.

Do I have that right?

I’m as close as I’ve ever been to just declaring. But there are some things about the party, particularly the more extreme left part, that bothers me. I’ve discussed these in other threads, but most of the CR posters just don’t see the issues the same way.

He ignored my post, which was an earnest attempt to hear something substantive from him. Instead he just continued with a bunch of snarky remarks that are worthless. He’s so useless, everyone should just put him on ignore. He’s a loser, as his favorite orange god would say.

No

I've explained my perspectives repeatedly.  Certainly they are more right than the Surly archetype.

I've said hundreds of times Trump is an incredible asshole.

Nope.  Magat, gargles trumps orange cheeto balls......

The last of which always strikes me incredibly ironic when the enlightened left uses homosexual acts as slander to prove their liberal bonafides.

Where?  It certainly wasn't in the 2 posts you referenced earlier, unless you expected us all to have our secret decoder rings handy.

You say you don't like Trump, but the entire GOP has been remade in his image, so I'm struggling to see the difference.  Is it just that you hate the democrats, so you vote GOP?

If so, what specific policies do you prefer the GOP on over the Dems?  I'd like to have the debate but I can't debate against air.

Lets start with

I am 100% opposed to

Packing the Supreme Court

Eliminating the Senate

Changing Presidential Election to Popular Vote

Medicare for All

Wealth Tax

Tax increases for anyone making less than 1million  2million as married couple.

Estate taxes below current exemption(probably should he higher) set to reduce in half in '25

Mandating EV conversion without any rational plan to produce enough electricity(read crash grid)

Tearing out hydroelectric dams(100% carbon free)

Also, just off the top of my head, when you lecture us for inaccurately implying that Trump paid Stormy Daniels with campaign funds when Michael Cohen went to prison in part for [checks notes] using campaign funds as reimbursement for his pay off to Stormy Daniels.

So you despise him, yet you undoubtedly vote for him anyway. Is the ethos really that important?

It's probably as simple as GOP = lower taxes for him. So he should just say it. Say you'll vote for awful people who do awful things as long as it keeps your tax bill lower.

Regarding the link you did post.  Trump can be an asshole and leave the Whitehouse all fucked up, but that isn't a rarity with Presidential Transistions.  First I heard of it happening was Clinton.

Lol. I'll go one by one I guess:

Packing the Supreme Court - This has only been done by one party, Republicans.  They stole multiple justices that would have been put on the court by Obama, and they crammed 3 in under Trump. You're assigning hypotheticals to the opposite party that HASN'T packed the court, but one has.

Eliminating the Senate - Here's another hypothetical. Who's suggesting the senate be eliminated?

Changing Presidential Election to Popular Vote - Ok, I'll let this one slide. But you don't think all votes should count equally. Got it.

Medicare for All - Ok

Wealth Tax - Ok

Tax increases for anyone making less than 1million  2million as married couple - Again, this is basically the Republican Platform. Tax increases for the poor and middle class. Trump's tax cuts were effectively for the wealthy. So you're once again voting for the party who works against your claimed interests.

Estate taxes below current exemption(probably should he higher) set to reduce in half in '25 - Ok.

Mandating EV conversion without any rational plan to produce enough electricity(read crash grid) - The only people mandating this is car companies who see the writing on the wall. If you want to take up electricity generation issues, talk to ERCOT.

Tearing out hydroelectric dams(100% carbon free) - No one is advocating this. Support this with evidence.

So that's a lot of horseshit, straight up lies, and a dash of "I've got mine, fuck everyone else, and you can't have it when I'm dead either." Got it.

Thanks.

Agreed on SCOTUS, but it was the GOP who did that, so I'm assuming you didn't agree with Mitch McConnell on that one.

Who is suggesting eliminating the Senate?  I haven't seen that one.

Why are you against the US becoming a real democracy?  We could debate whether the electoral college was needed in the first place, but I have a hard time seeing why national races shouldn't be decided by the majority of voters.

Are you against universal healthcare, or just using Medicare as the mechanism for achieving it?  Having experienced universal healthcare in action, I can't understand how anyone could be against it.  No one should go bankrupt because of a medical issue.  We have the most expensive healthcare in the world and it's not even good.  I had much a much better healthcare, both in terms of experience and results, in Europe than I ever have here.

I agree with you in principle on wealth tax, but I do think we need a tax overhaul that better addresses investment and stock-based compensation.  No reason Warren Buffet should have a lower tax rate than his admin assistant.

No problem with limiting tax rates for those earning less than $1 million ($2m joint)

Agree on the estate tax min

I think the mandate is designed to spur investment in infrastructure.  But I don't like mandates in general, so I would probably side with you if pushed.  Although I think the debate is a bit more nuanced.

As with the elimination of the Senate, I don't know who's pushing for the elimination of hydroelectric dams.

You're not supporting your arguement, you're just repeating a common misconception as if it were fact. Donald Trump's Tax Cuts were only FOR high income earners. His SALT tax bullshit hurt the middle class. Meanwhile, Joe Biden has only proprosed raising taxes on people who make more than 400k a year, which would be literally the top 1% of earchers not just in America, but in the WORLD. Meanwhile, Biden's tax proposal for an incerase on the wealthy would raise tax rates back to...what they were a few decades ago. I'll support this stance with actual fucking data:
https://www.americanprogress.org/article/biden-tax-proposals-would-correct-inequities-created-by-trump-tax-cuts-and-raise-additional-revenues/#:~:text=to the section-,Biden tax proposals would increase taxes on the wealthy%2C expand, treats income from unrealized gains.
