Another interesting tidbit as if the shitty head scratching losses this year didn't piss you off enough already, Texas is 1 of only 10 teams with 10 or more Q1 wins. Texas has a legit hosting resume until you get all the way to the Q4 column, then you barf

on coffee and football this morning, CJ said it wasn't a given that LBJ starts on Sunday.  not sure who else they'd trot out there, but i can also see why they don't have a lot of faith in LBJ right now.

Hurley. Since there are no midweek games the rest of the way, he is the long guy and I'm sure they won't hesitate to put them out there early if a starter is struggling.

TEXAS at UCF
May 10-12, 2024
Where: John Euliano Park
Time: Friday at 5 p.m. CT; Saturday at 5 p.m. CT; Sunday at 12 p.m. CT
TV: ESPN+
Radio: AM-1300 The Zone/103.1 FM
Live stats: Texas.Statbroadcast.com
All-time series: First meeting

PROBABLE PITCHING MATCHUPS
FRIDAY–Texas RHP Max Grubbs (4-4, 3.70) vs. UCF RHP Ben Vespi (3-2, 4.45)
SATURDAY–Texas LHP Ace Whitehead (4-0, 3.73) vs. UCF RHP Dom Stagliano (2-3, 4.07)
SUNDAY–Texas RHP Lebarron Johnson Jr. (2-4, 5.82) vs. UCF TBA

UCF's park is 320' down the lines,  390' to center, 360' to both alleys.    Only David Pierce could have designed a field that small.

Texas returned to the Baseball America rankings at No. 25 this week and has four more conference wins than the Knights, but UCF holds a much higher RPI than Texas at 32.

That simply means any win against UCF, especially on the road, will help Texas improve its rating and presumably its NCAA tournament seeding.

Texas baseball has big opportunity at UCF to improve RPI, seeding for Big 12 tourney | KXAN Austin

Those are Pony League dimensions. Can we expect a 22-19 type of game?

UCF ranks 11th in the Big 12 in homers and 9th in slugging % but is 1st in ERA, so maybe the park doesn't play as small as it seems.

Or they suck at hitting homers.

Given Texas' ability to hit home runs, combined with how many FOs they have at the Disch, and the UCF starting staff's ERAs, I feel like Texas should score plenty of runs to win games. UCF being first in overall ERA must mean their bullpen/the composite staff must be pretty consistent.

A road series win, especially a sweep, would do wonders for Texas' RPI. Granted, there's probably diminishing marginal returns since UCF is only 18 spots ahead. Nevertheless, win the series and it'll be massive for RPI.

So we are losing the Friday game...

If "up" is due north on Google maps, then the forecast for 15+ mph winds out of the west-southwest spells "Home Run Derby":

We better throw Cody Howard then if we don't want the ball to be put into ball

Visitors' bullpen is just a chain-link fence all the way around that anyone outside the stadium can walk up to and rag on and harass the pitchers (especially the chance to do it to Texas' pitchers) at all day long. What a Shithole!
