Miami should have at least 2 losses. Officials saved them twice.

I don't know if he agrees or not, but paper tiger and ref gifts aside an undefeated Miami this deep in the season is going to be top 5-10 every year. The talking heads, and moreso media folks have an odd passion for them. It's not ND strong but it's there and has been a long time. Cam Ward going off consistently, despite a terrible D, is just going to get voter love. That's the way that shit goes, always has.

There are two one loss teams ahead of them I’m not sure an undefeated Miami is getting the love many think they are. They are still undefeated and at this point in the season that’s a noteworthy fact. I still think many teams can beat them but it hasn’t happened yet.

They haven't played a tough schedule and have had some fucky results. If you look at common opponents between them and SMU it's basically a wash.

Ohh the irony

They’re not even mentioning the vandy win over Alabama. The new perception is they almost beat us so we must be bad. We survived is the word they used. Like they didn’t even watch game

Honestly, nobody outside of Texas or vandy fans really watched. They all just saw the score.

I think all this goes away as soon as we blow someone out, and if we win out with a bunch of close ones, it all becomes moot. And if we lose, they can look and point and tell us how soft we are.

Texas fans are fucking special. We wander the desert for 15 seasons and then - in back to back fucking seasons - I have to listen to the same stupid bullshit bitching about us being 5+x - 1 and ranked in the top 5 or top 10 and how we aren't good enough or over-ranked or whatever the fuck.

Newsflash - we went 12-2 last season and almost played for a national title and have a BETTER team this season.

Just fuckin win and move on, man. It's amazing how many fans didn't want to understand or accept this last season. It's like we've been so far removed from the limelight for so long that we don't understand what college football is about.

You PLAY to WIN the GAME.

Playoffs based on this week's AP Poll (how the hell do we keep ending up against Kalen DeBoer in the postseason?)

Have to believe they'll avoid conference matchups in the first round if it's easy. Switch Alabama with either Notre Dame or Boise State and you do that with this ranking set.

We'll take all the bandwagon support we can get. Took a lot just to get the undergrad to 7k.

there's going to have to be an agreement to rotate the 5 seed  between SEC and B1G yearly.

No, it’s not a problem at all. Who gives a fuck about perception. This isn’t even on my radar. Because we have much bigger goals than 10-2 finish and at-large invite (which we would get). Some of you need to grab your fucking balls.

When Texas is right Texas is right.

At our A game - historically - no one handles our shit.

Worry about the Horns my guy. We keep posting Ws fucking no one wants to see us in any round of the playoffs.

We are 4th by a landslide here and fairly close to #1.

BTW, I’m in the camp that we’ll be playing for a sec championship so all the perception shit is moot. Just bitching in the bye week for me about our new conference media.

I feel you - I'm just telling you the media shit is just that. Media ain't playing come game day.

College football is wild and in a 12 team playoff world it's wilder than ever. Just keep winning games and see what happens.

I am fairly fucking confident that we have the best D in the nation. That tends to get you places.

We'll beat Bama and Miami only because Deboer hasn't installed an actual system, and Milroe is meh this year. All his targets are to Ryan Williams, and our secondary is ballin out with future Thorpe finalist Barron back there.

Undefeated is undefeated. FSU was different because they lost their Can Ward.

2024 Miami and 2023 FSU have lots of parallels.

Yep. Once Cam Ward is gone (who's much, much worse than Jordan Travis) theyll regress to their mean next season as a 5-6 win team. Ward is a turnover machine.

BYU should be ahead of the other undefeateds Indiana and Miami (not Oregon). We have better wins so far, including the win vs SMU, which is looking better and better. Other than the Louisville win what has Miami done? Florida and Florida State are trash bags this year, so those wins are not compelling for Miami.

If you go back 1 page, the common opponent results dictate that Indiana should, in fact, be ahead of Oregon. Both should be ahead of BYU. BYU beat SMU 18-15, won against KSU and beat a terrible Baylor squad. Those are the sum total of their Ws verse teams with winning records. 3 total, wanna argue Miami, make your case.

BYU Opponents record:

SIU: 2-7

SMU: 8-1 (BYU 18 - SMU 15)

Wyoming: 2-7

KSU: 7-2

Baylor: 5-4

Arizona: 3-6

OkieState: 3-6

UCF: 4-5

(Edit - forgot last weekend moved Baylor into the winning record category. That makes Baylor, amusingly, BYU's 3rd best W on the season. Oh, btw, KSU lost to Houston which tarnished that W for them.)

Former SWC teams to make the playoffs before TAMU (all in the 4-team playoff format):

OUsux

UT

TCU

That's it.  That's the list.

This first year of the expanded playoffs, UT and SMU have a chance.

Notable that TCU is the only one to win a CFP game.

TAMU is going to lose at least one more game before the end of the regular season.  Another year wandering in the wilderness.

Y'all are a good team and deserved that W but we were also still splitting reps at QB that game. Stone was horrendous in the series that he got. SMU is a much better team at this point in the season - granted I think BYU has also improved since their first few games.

Yeah, that they both played UCLA & MSU and Indiana beat them by a little more is a data point, but I'm not putting Indiana ahead of Oregon until they beat Ohio State, too. And Oregon also beat Boise State, so even if Indiana beats Ohio State Indiana would still not have the better resume.

I hope SMU plays Miami for the ACC championship. Only then will we getter a better idea if Miami is really all that. Their strength of schedule has been trash.

BYU has more to prove, but it's quite possible it will have beat the ACC champ and run through the Big 12. If so, it will deserve at least the 3 seed in the CFP, depending on what happens in the SEC and B10.

Were your QBs expected to split reps in that game? It looked like we had so thoroughly shut down Stone that your coach went to Jennings for a spark, but we kept Jennings in check, too, so he went back and forth, ultimately sticking with Jennings at the end.

I feel like we've improved a lot as the season has progressed, too, especially our QB. I hope y'all win out, but I don't want to meet you again.

Miami beating smu. wtf does that mean. smu is as mid as Miami. no offense ztejas. Miami seeking validation by beating smu hypothetically is all I need to know about that shit schedule and the weakness that is Miami.

First you say Oregon should be ahead of BYU but not IU. I point out the common opponents and the fact the IU beat them by double digits, each one and held them to the exact same offensive output. Then you say they beat them by a little more and bring up Boise State. Then you move the goal post again by mentioning they need to beat OSU, and won't admit they should be ahead of BYU.

I point out BYU has beat 2 good teams, in total.

BYU has played a shit schedule. IU has out performed Oregon in common opponents by double digits. Yet, IU belongs behind BYU but Oregon doesn't.

You're fulla shit!

I think you misunderstood my point. No, I said BYU should be ahead of Miami and IU. I don't think BYU should be ahead of Oregon. Also, Oregon should be ahead of IU. Oregon beating Ohio State + UCLA + MSU + Boise State + the rest > IU beating UCLA + MSU + the rest. You put way to much weight on the common opponent scores. I'm not saying it's meaningless metric, but both beat UCLA and MSU handily and it's not the most important metric. If IU remains unbeaten and beats Ohio State, then I have no problem with IU being ahead of BYU.

I understood your point exactly. You're vastly over weighing a win over Boise State and OSU and completely ignoring the only direct comparable mid season, common opponent results. Results that indicate IU has an equivalent level of defense and superior offense to Oregon.

You're also completely ignoring the fact that IU is beating conference and Non-con opponents dramatically. Every game.

IU offense average points: 46.56 IU opponent average points: 13.67

The closest, Washington 31-17 or... 2 touch downs in favor of IU.

Find me another undeated team who's smallest margin of victory this year is 14 points. Hint, it ain't Oregon who beat the power house Idaho 24-14 in the first game of the season. It ain't BYU who beat SMU, Okie State and UCF by 3 points. (2 of which teams have a losing record)

Not only should IU be ranked ahead of BYU(who has beaten exactly 2 good teams), but by measurable metrics they should also be ahead of Oregon.

Edit - for clarity I firmly believe IU should be ranked, at worst, #1 or #2 ahead of Miami, Texas, OSU, Georgia and certainly BYU. A case could be argued for BYU ahead of Miami, but it's a weak one. When a team plays a schedule and there are 3 opponents with a winning record, like BYU has done, and there are a lot of close games, well, it doesn't scream top 5 to me.

Notice a modicum of objectivity in that I'm not leaning a huge bias towards my team, Texas. In fact, I have zero allegiance for IU or B1G.
