The work thing was not limited to Gov't.
Then there was the face flag/ mask thingy that was awesome. Then add in unnecessary school/ business shut-downs.

I love how revisionist/ forgetful people become, as if we didn't live it.

The vaccine mandate by Biden was government. Companies had their own rules. Other countries had their own rules.

Same with masks - there was not a government mask mandate for the country. It was recommended. There were local and state mandates.

There was...um...pressure.

Again, stop acting as if we weren't there.  LOL/ SMDH  Fauci didn't exist, right?  Certain states were not called out for defying the recommendations, right?  Nah.  We just made it up.

I mean, it works in the other direction with you and your peers. You've told this story so many times of how bad wearing a fucking face mask was, you now believe it.

Slorch super mad when his company follows the lead of the federal government's mask mandate (for federal employees)

Slorch super not mad when his company follows the lead of the federal government's ban on DEI (for federal entities)

The OSHA rule (which was a epidemiological reasoning hot mess) literally had to get litigated at the Supreme Court.

The lack of attention span is amazing.

Amazing but not surprising.

Politically motivated measures in the name of public health.

The masks were fucking stupid then.  They would be today.  They will be tomorrow.

Don't get me wrong, I took the initial vax, but it was because our son was abroad and I wanted to be able to travel when restrictions were lifted.  I don't have a problem with other people taking it, any more than I  do the flu shot, which is zero.  Their choice.  Wear a mask if you want.  Your choice.

For an airborne virus like COVID, masks are extremely effective at blocking the droplets that carried the COVID virus. I'm sorry masks are ineffective for Raider Rash, so I can understand your frustration

Also, as usual, no understanding of anything

Literal preamble to the Constitution - promote the general welfare

I'd assume any moron would figure out that public health ordinances in the face of a once in a century pandemic would fall under promoting the general welfare.

It's been a couple of weeks since I last posted an update. It seems like the number of new cases is diminishing (hopefully peaked), but at the same time, the geographic spread keeps increasing. Since my last post, the official list includes the following new counties: Carson (up by Amarillo), Collin, Hardeman, Rockwall, and Atascosa. Of course, there's also the Hays County one on the previous page.

I guess they determined the ones in Denton and Scurry (posted a month or so ago) weren't linked to the Gaines County outbreak.

There is nothing wrong with masking in the context of a respiratory infection. But over time masking turned into a matter of social dogma and tribal signaling and not one of epidemiology and risk reduction.

You need the context of a properly fitted N95 worn continuously.  Which was the case of 1 in 1000.

It sure seemed like people who diligently wore masks didn’t get that sick with all the other junk (flu, colds, etc) for about a year long period from March 2020 to March 2021

I mostly worked from home at the time, but I wore a mask without complaining like a baby dick when I went into the office, per company policy. I took the shots despite my dumbass MAGA bitch of a mother hysterically begging me not to, even though she very well knew that my cancer-ridden, immunocompromised father was living in my house at the time. I did what I could, within reason, not to get sick so I didn't inadvertently kill my dad by being careless and giving him COVID.

The answers to your other questions are no, no, and no. Anything else, you dumb fuck?

Question: do you think that this study and recommendation will be primarily used to a) implement sound and balanced public health recommendations and policy, or b) as ammunition in the “see! Vaccines are bad, even the govt and docs admit it!” cause?
You know the answer.

The language certainly does not take the personal recommendations and discussion away from physicians and their patients for individualized Covid vaccine decisions.
It is pretty clear, five years and multiple strains later that Covid has become a nuisance illness for the vast majority of Americans. If you really want to make a difference in vaccinations that are currently have  poor uptake then the focus should be on adult RSV, pneumonia, and flu vaccination rates which have suffered under public hesitancy of vaccines since Covid. This is  in addition to childhood immunizations like pertussis and measles. And while the current and very public and tragic measles outbreak is highly concerning, many more children died this year from RSV and influenza.

All the other adult and pediatric illnesses I mentioned currently have a much higher morbidity and mortality than Covid.

Public health should not bow to the political and media hot potato.

RSV vaccine strategy is an interesting case study in the context of this discussion. Initial recommendations were shared decision making model. That evolved from one year to the next into arguably more restrictive age- and risk-based recommendations. Nobody lost their minds about it. The recommendations just evolved based on experience and context. COVID booster recommendations in the US have been divorced from reality and the rest of the world for some time now. It's long overdue that they are brought in to line.

I wear a properly fitted N95 now every time we fly, every time. long covid will do that to you. I also have the bands that go horizontal around my head and neck and not around my ears and I have a 3M version that has an exhale valve. It's actually quite nice for a mask, not uncomfortable, not hard to breathe and doesn't fog up my glasses.  bonus points I can do resting bitch face all day long and not advance my smile wrinkles.  I also don't have to smell e. coli ass rips in the bathroom either.  I win.

fair enough, but 5-6% develop long covid which is not a nuisance it's pure fucking misery and some never recover. we can treat it as a nuisance but I think it wise to not fuck around with it. talk to folks with long term uncured chronic fatigue, or neuopathy, brain fog that's debilitating, etc. awful. get paxlovid, if you have a risk for long covid take metformin too. there's a whole legit protocol beyond that (supps, diet, etc.) backed by the long covid clincs which I highly recommend. primary care doctors are woefully unprepared and uneducated. specialists suck too, don't get me started on the cardiologist that said take two ibuprofen and don't call me in the morning. it's a multi organ disease when you get long covid. there are ways out of it, but it's right now treatment protocols entirely up to the sophistication and resources of the patient. off shoot disorders are common from long covid and it can result in permanent disorders and long term damage.  it's a silent serious debilitating epidemic that EVERYONE ignores. it's actually the chief driver in the labor shortage from 2021-recently.  covid is also emerging as a top reason why older folks die. it can accelerate dementia. that damn virus can fuck up any organ system it gets its hands on.  yes, for 95% of patients without risk (age or otherwise) it should be ok, but when it's not, it's fucking bad. and 5% rate of covid turning to long covid is not a small number of people. it stacks up.

as for the vaccine, it's really simple. if you are susceptible to micro clots both covid and the vaccine can harm you. if you are not, you're likely fine with the vaccine. the other disorders like respiratory function, brain disorders, multi organ injury the vaccine can help.  micro vascular disorders and cardiac injury from micro vascular clotting is the one area that the vaccine can really harm you if your susceptible to those clotting disorders arising from the spike protein (present in the virus and vaccine). I'll be honest, i'm on the fence re the vaccine because I did have cardiac and micro-vascular issues.

compliance. Flag waving.  It was an ineffective measure/ incredibly poorly executed that was massively overvalued.  Even when people had em on, it was a comical array of positions on the face/ head.
