Huh.  Cause we stay away from the idiots on reddit, maybe?  Anyway that's a new one on me.

I still think in that meme, Rey Sweek is much funnier.

That was posted by Ferrari themselves on their social media pages. That is why it became a meme.

Yeah. I gathered.  I don't haunt Ferrari social media so unless/until one of you yahoos brought it here from somewhere else, I never would have seen it.

Her name is Rey. THAT is the joke. :)

Yep. Totally aware of rawe ceek. It just doesn't go well with that Rey meme at all. Rey Sweek, otoh, is perfect.

He’s got a great point   👆🏻

just want to point out he finished 285 points behind his teammate last year

Oscar Piastri scored 292 total points

Carlos Sainz scored 290 total points

George Russell scored 245 points

Does the problem go well beyond just him and involve the car? absolutely

but anyone expecting him to suddenly do well in a new constructor? out of their fucking mind. and tbh, not sure he does any better than the guys in the seat this year if he kept his spot another season.

Oh no, I totally agree with you. I was also one wanting him out of that seat because he wasn't doing anything. I was not mad about it.

I do think that his, along with Bottas being experienced, should be a good transition for the new team. For just a couple, maybe even just one season, seasons to help them get their feet wet.

To be fair though, Max ran away from everyone not named Norris and LeClerc last season. And while he was wrong about Yuki's point total, he has 10, I think his point still stands and Redbull #2.

have anything about their contract lengths been announced or just the 2 drivers? haven't seen anything about their reserve driver or junior driver group either...

just want them to be successful, embrace the American-ness of it just so it fucks Gene Haas in some small way

I have not seen anything. I too want us to have a team to cheer for.

Although, this video is kind of funny.

just going for a stroll in zandvoort

I’m just watching the recording of it now. There has to be a time when Daddy Stroll says, “enough”

We were at this race last year. Had a blast. The weather is crazy tricky up there for sure.

Speaking of Karting ...

F1 drivers make GPDA appeal after 'insane' development in karting  https://www.gpblog.com/en/exclusive-news/f1-drivers-make-call-after-absurd-development-in-karting

There is simply no good reason to introduce aero wars into karting. Beyond idiotic. SMH.

Quote

The twenty drivers in F1 make a strong joint appeal to the karting industry, promoters, kart race organizers and the FIA, as well as other involved entities to stop a ‘dangerous’ and 'wrong' development in karting. Alexander Wurz, the GPDA chairman, discloses and explains concerns the GPDA members have in relation to karting and worrying technical developments.

The F1 drivers have learned that karting - usually the breeding ground for F1 drivers - is increasingly allowing aerodynamic parts on the karts and mainly see disadvantages.

"They come up with floors, and with different kinds of wings and downforce settings." Wurz explains. "We all said, this is absolutely insane, because karting is so cool, and all of it will just make it more expensive and perhaps more dangerous. We see no benefits to the sport, only downsides. Everyone will want to buy those downforce parts, but its not for the better of sport or drivers."
According to Wurz, with all the F1 drivers behind him, modified karts in the rain cause spraying - similar to formula cars. "Not to that full extent, but then it's against safety, hurts visibility, and simply makes it more dangerous. We think someone has to stand in and say something. We are looking out for the kids in karting, and we are concerned. We think it's in the wrong direction and it should be stopped."
"I know the manufacturers want to make technical progress, and also need to look after their business and make some money, but the promoters and parents should say: ‘No, don't do that’. It is against safety and it's against budget, and it's against overtaking. So why are we doing it? If it is for the commercial benefits for the manufacturers we have to say no, sorry, don't get me wrong, kart manufacturers need to make business, do they can keep supporting the first platform of racing, but this seems to be a wrong direction"
, Wurz shares on behalf of the F1 drivers.

Yep. It's the purest form of 4-wheel racing left, afaik. Please, pleasel, please, don't fuck it up.

We have a really nice road course facility to the northwest of Pittsburgh. It opened as Beaver Run and is now called Pittsburgh Race Complex, or something like that. Anyway, there is also an excellent Kart track there. One year they had the CART Stars of Tomorrow in for an event and they had a celebrity event, and I use that term very loosely because I was invited to take part.

They put me on the pole and the woman who designed the track, also a professional driver in Europe, was in the #2 spot. She smoked me off the line like I stalled it. It took a few laps for me to get rolling, and I did improve each lap. I was racing myself, not her or anyone else. I was proud that I didn’t go off and my times kept improving.

When we go to France each summer we spend a few afternoons Karting outside of St. Tropez. It is a hoot. Great fun.

The CART Stars of Tomorrow event was awesome. Little kids in full racing suits, Juan Pablo’s little brother was there as was Graham Rahal. They were all so serious, which was really funny because the kids were so small.

It’s a great sport and they ought not fuck it up.

That's awesome af. Karting is amazing for giving us opportunities for moments like that.

Warning, /csb alert: I dunno if any of you ever got to drive at Driveway Austin before the Dollahites sold it, but man, I miss that place. It was the only place in Austin where you could show up and race against some pretty decent drivers, some serious karters, and all the way up to the occasional pro driver. Standing starts and actual racing, not time trialing. I used to race against Scott Dollahite fairly often. He's pretty damn talented like his old man Bill. Dude can do some mind-blowing shit on a shifter kart. I never beat him, but I could hang a little, despite Scott being so much smaller. Once, I was leading a race and this little Argentine guy got inside me on the second lap, rubbing me wide at that big, long, left-hand carousel turn and taking the lead. When you go off the racing line right there, you lose a ton of time. I lost 2 or 3 positions but hung in there, and 3 or 4 laps later I came back and pulled the exact same move on him & checked out for the win. After the race all the guys were buzzing about that guy being pissed off, complaining that his kart was too slow, etc, even though he finished P2. Turned out he raced professionally in Argentina & was butthurt about some 50 year old, 6" taller, 70 pound heavier, 'arrive & drive' nobody owning his shit. I just laughed and ignored him, enjoying the win. I didn't get the memo about deferring to the little guys with big egos lol.

Who is in the booth with Karun?  On one hand, it's hilarious hearing him check Karun in real time, on the other, dude has zero tact overall.

Villeneuve.  Glad someone is checking Karun & taking some talk time away from him. Re: the lack of tact, well, he's French (Canadian), so ....
