PK seems like a cool dude. Many of you are decidedly NOT cool dudes.

Pk is a good dude but he always needed help.  First it was Patterson then Akina. I don’t blame Sark for wanting a DC that can handle the entire defense.  Crazy I know.

FIFY - Akina was of no help.

The worst one I ever had was at the bar in the Salt Lake City Marriott. No idea what the young missionary put in it…pretty sure it was sprite, a digitally measured shot of bourbon (he said they didn’t have rye) and half a fruit salad and no bitters. Tasted like the 7&7s I made in high school.

But I said rye dammit!

Try ordering an old fashioned in Wisconsin or Michigan. They make it with soda and it’s fucking disgusting. I thought intrinsic to the name of the drink there could only be one way to make it.

I was in Madison watching my bosses daughter play hockey for the Badgers. They had a great bar where we were drinking Spotted Cow.  Great beer.  After the game we went back and someone ordered me an Old Fashioned. I took a sip and spit it out. The server asked me why I didn’t like it?  I said it’s simple, who the hell puts soda in an Old Fashioned???  They took it back and just brought me another Spotted Cow.

False.  In college athletics it’s actually the opposite.  If you resign you forfeit your contact and all benefits.  If you’re fired, w/o, cause, your contract is paid out and benefits stay intact.  And in college sports getting fired really means nothing as long as your name isn’t associated with any king of scandal.

You are the first person on this site to actually touch on why PK was “fired” and didn’t resign. The people clutching their pearls over Sarkisian running down Kwiatkowski after his departure may never understand what Sarkisian actually did for the guy.

I thought this was pretty obvious.  PK being terminated is actually far better for him financially.  His $2mm contract runs through 2026, so he's due over $2mm and has access to whatever medical, dental, etc. benefits he had at Texas (through COBRA or otherwise).  If he's dumb enough to say, "Fuck you, Sark!  You cannot fire me!  I quit!" or the like, then we really do not want him around.

I probably would not have commented about his performance and/or the need for oversight in a press conference.  "I decided to make a change to a defensive style and philosophy more aligned with my preferences.  I thank PK for his contributions and please join me in welcoming Will Mushcamp back to Texas."  It is great that Sark was transparent, but "was distracted by the defense and could not focus on Arch" (paraphrased) is not a great look.

Edited to add - this is a great change and upgrade.

Which of us sends it back and screams, "I wanted an old fashioned with the proper pour of bourbon?"

That drink is basically sugary jim beam with pieces of fruit and chipped ice floating around in it.

You would think it’s obvious, but people around here whining about the firing clearly don’t understand how it works.  I’d also bet that PK and Sark were in discussions about this, and it wasn’t a blindside “firing”.

100% agree about the other statement.  He should have just stopped after philosophical differences.  Reasons for firing are great, excuses for firing are cringeworthy.  The latter was Sark acting like a Blue Falcon OC, and not the HC of the program.  Ultimately if he fails, that will be why…lack of separation of conflicting duties.

We were at a lakeside bar once in Wisconsin and I go to the bathroom.  2 locals are in it also and one of them says to the other in the stereotypical accent, You drink a pint and piss a gallon.  I had to struggle to not bust out laughing.

thank you.  all of the, "this is Sark playing his last card" takes being posted on the football board right now + the genuine belief by some over there that he is really on the hot seat are mind numbingly stupid and make me question the intelligence of this fanbase.  you can count the number of programs in the entire country who have outperformed what Sark has done at Texas over the past 3 seasons on one hand and you wouldn’t need every finger.  Yet, we have people who won't shut the fuck up about Texas firing him.  it's embarrassing.

Our fandom tasted CFP success and now is worse than aggy

If I remember right, Herman basically gifted him to TCU but not having a WR coach for a month only to end up promoting someone who was already on staff.

I don't think it is intelligence or lack thereof, it is the emotional instability that surprises me.  Do people overreact to everything in your normal life too?

Is he any good? I think I remember a time when we all clowned on the guy because he can't recruit or develop who he has recruited.

Let's money whip Dennis Simmons. If we're not fucking around anymore this would be the guy to get. Or Hines Ward could be low key great.

Okay, come on now.

I know I’m not the only poster who vagabonds to other boards on a regular basis, including aggie boards.

I know we have some true idiots in our base and on the boards, but we’re a massive fanbase. We also have some pretty bright posters and fans.

When I visit other boards, I can find plenty of dummies, too. However, outside of Notre Dame, Michigan, UF, and USC boards, it gets really difficult to identify virtually any signs of intelligent life.

I know this is a given to many here, but saying it anyway - SECRant/Tigerdroppings is perhaps the largest single collection of people with a collective IQ below 90 this side of an Appalachian swap meet or a Russian Federal Assembly session.

I don't think that's true and that's not how my Daddy raised me. Daddy taught me to bottle up my feelings and he only hit me when I deserved it for crying or showing sympathy towards others. Now, if I could just find a good woman like my Mama.

There’s like 4 people who think he’s on the hot seat. Many ignore the clear change in behavior last year and this spring and what’s going on now too. I have no doubt he got a talking to. He appears to have responded.  His bullshit lost any “feel goods” with me. Win or GTFO.

Don’t get me wrong I’m intentionally a zero in the program. I wasn’t suggesting otherwise, just saying all the vulnerability and culture talk is just click bait bullshit now that’s all.

Whats the definition of hot seat? If he has a repeat of this season next year then I think there's a better than 50% chance he's done. I just don't think anyone believes that is going to happen, and I don't think Muschamp would jump on board if Sark had half support. I think we are about to see us make significant upgrades in the portal and I think most can see that Sark recovered from his various fuck ups and has the ship pointed in the right direction. Combine that with his skins on the wall from 23 and 24 and I think there's a clear argument that its much smarter to double down for Arch's last season then formally inject doubt in the whole operation.

I also think the "hot seat" works differently in this era. You do what you can to convince everyone your coach's seat isnt even warm because you want everyone to feel confident about investing. If Sark squanders Arch and his offense continues to underperform then I think one night he will go to sleep with his seat ice cold and wake up to find its covered in napalm. I wouldn't bet on that scenario at all though. I think 26 is a major bounce back.

It totally depends on the portal.  If we don’t get SEC level starters at RB, OL, DB, and LB, it very much will be a repeat of this season.

Im not worried about the portal. I think we will have a roster built to win the SEC. I worry more about Sark doing what makes sense as a coach vs wanting to execute his dream offense.

So a school that stomached 3 losing seasons of Charlie Strong is suddenly going to fire a coach that took them to the CFP twice because he has back to back 9-3 seasons in which he sweeps OU, Arkansas, and A&M?

Yes. This is the NIL era, and if Sark misses the playoffs two years in a row because of his own incompetence then I think the $$$ will replace him. I dont think its going to happen though. Sark messed up bad this season and still almost made the playoff. I also think it would be nearly impossible to replicate the shit show surrounding Sark's personal life, but who knows. The guy is a self destructive fuck up and has been for a long time. I think we will field a better roster all around in 26, have a strong campaign, and move forward with Sark for the Dia Bell cycle.

The only way we remove SS after a 9-3 season is with an embarrassing scandal or a no brainer hire being available and in the bag.

In other words, don’t be silly.

You're talking about millions of donor dollars being completely wasted on the Arch era if we miss the playoffs again. The conversation will be do we want to commit millions more to this guy or do we want to start this next cycle with a new name of our choosing? I don't see whats silly about that considering we are sitting at home this year watching a bunch of teams we would most likely beat. I'd bet we are top 3 preseason again next year. Sark would likely be toast in that scenario and I don't see what is silly about that.

The roster cost is part of our advantage. This is the era we play in.

It can get a hell of a lot worse.
