Jalin suddenly cant play D either.

gonna be tough to advance when our 3rd baseman is a boat anchor, our SS is having trouble throwing to first, and our 2nd baseman has been a revolving door for weeks.

i think we'll be alright

Flores is in a terrible slump. He is going to be smoked by lots of pitchers right now.

I hope he snaps out of it soon.

If it's just a slump, he's been in it awhile and should be busting out of it at just the right time.

I think there's something else going on and I'd start by checking his eyes.  He could be +/- .25 and not even think twice about it, but it could be just enough to cause problems with a baseball coming at you at 90+ mph.

Assuming he catches the ball?

We've been successful a few times over the last several weeks cutting down the lead runner on bunts with a force at 3rd

Okie finally couldn't get the bunt down so it was moot

Glad we are letting Ruger go. He’s been fine. Our defense has been as bad as it’s been all year.

Yea, didn’t we end with zero errors yesterday?

I wouldn't say he's been fine(WP's, walks, not holding runners)but it certainly wasn't the disaster his last 2 starts were.

Those things tend to occur less when your defense can execute fundamentals

Stop it. He’s been fine tonight. We probably should have been out of this inning with no runs if we just make the plays

I mean how many guys have reached on bunts today lol. But yea Ruger is a bullpen guy obviously.

eh, he's been doing that regardless.  Ruger is one of our starters but on a really good staff he's maybe the sunday starter probably long relief.

this game isn't going to be his fault.

Argue all you want about the expected value of a bunt.

It places pressure on college defenses that they often cannot withstand.

It's something that should be in every team's arsenal.

Death by a thousand cuts that inning.  Small ball definitely forces you to execute and we did not.  Some really great bunts laid down.  Credit to them.

Ruger didn’t look great but the line is going to look a lot worse than his actual performance.

Sac bunts are generally low value outside of certain situations. That doesn’t mean teams should never bunt though, especially when someone like Borba with no range is playing 3rd

The defense let him down from the very first hitter
