We talked about him a little last season when he shut down Carolina. Fastball was 96-97 and slider was snapping that day, but definitely inconsistent through the year.

Does anyone see a slam dunk preseason #1 team right now? (insert A&M joke here)

Looking around the rest of the SEC and the country and it seems wide open. LSU and Arkansas are losing a ton. Mississippi State has loaded up in the portal and is returning some nice pieces but not sure if it is #1 overall worthy.

LSU will probably be #1 by virtue of defending champ.  Whether they deserve it or not.

Maybe UCLA?  Their lineup had 7 sophomores and a ton of young pitchers, for a team that made it to Omaha.

Texas will be in the top 5, along with probably LSU, Tennessee, UCLA.

I mean it definitely could be us with what we have coming back plus our portal action. But I won't care one bit if we're not.

They (rankings people) usually seem to default to returning production with a sprinkle of what was done in the portal because transfers are more unpredictable, so I have a tough time thinking it will be us.

LSU is probably the right answer even with some of the big names they are losing.

I’m of the opinion that the weight of the facial hair wore on the players physically and by May they were too worn out to perform well

It's going to be a battle for innings if Ruger, Harrison and Grubbs all make it through the draft and we get all the freshman arms on campus.

Volantis, Grubbs, Harrison, Ruger, Burns, Saunier, Flores, Bing, Walker, Rerick, Hamilton, Navarre, Leffew, Higgins, Dotson, Howard (ducks) + any freshman who are ready.

Going to have a lot of options.

Sounds like a good problem to have for a long season and into Omaha.

That's how it needs to be.  There will be less room for dead weight with the asinine roster contraction.

Coaches are going to continue to hoard pitching and carry fewer position players. Would rather have a lottery ticket arm than a 3rd string SS.

Rerick is having an impressive summer. 1.8era in 10ip, limiting walks a bit better. Navarre is getting shelled. Chamberlain is going to be a solid starter catcher for someone next season

Winfield reverting to the mean in the cape. Don’t ask, don’t tell on Tinney’s numbers. Not worried, it was a long season and he’s been on trips constantly this summer for visits/award ceremonies.

Anyone have more context to this? The video cuts off abruptly. I know he was a consensus AA, among other awards, but are they intimating that he's getting his number retired already?

Here's the tweet with the full video. It was mostly talking about goals, seeing those names up there. Then Schloss pointed out Swindell, Drusseldorf, and Kiesch as guys who were up there who were BA National Freshman of the Year..."Just like you are now"

After Howard dominates every Friday night, let the chips fall where they may.
