Ill throw in $100 into the tailgate fund to help out.

I offered to pitch in 10% of this, but won’t be at any games.

Besides waiting for a GoFundMyBBQPit.com/Surly link to be produced, is there another way to send $10?

(I can always wait and rip it off at Lee Harvey’s over TX/OU weekend if radio silence continues.)

PS- I don’t actually look or dress anything like Napoleon (Bonaparte or even Dynamite), so you likely won’t know that I am the one dropping off the $10 in the name of Napoleon.

Are you responding to me?

I answered above - I just need a pit. I don't need babysitter and I don't need to trade tickets.

Berts BBQ smokes for $1/lb thanks to @DalTxHornFan for letting me know. Gonna send that this weekend and continue the search for a pit.

This pit will likely start getting used for all our home and away tailgates.

If you give me 8 season tickets on the 50 (under the overhang, of course) for the next 10 years, I’ll drive my pit by the tailgate on Friday morning and honk.

I am thinking about customizing this a little bit and getting a wok/boil pot on it and maybe dropping the fryers.

We could use this to travel to away games and control our food costs a lot better. I estimate this will be 20-25k, but we typically are paying more than that for catering each event. Food and fuel etc cost would be significantly cheaper if we brought if ourselves probably down to the 8-10k level which saves us 10-15k per game.

What size pit are you looking for?

We need to feed up to 2000 with this set up. Usually gonna be 750-1000 but can get much larger.

Oh, shit.  I mean, if it were just talking brisket, at 1/2 pound per person (after trim and shrinkage), that's like 100 briskets

I'll keep my eye out for something like this.

a wok setup?  WTF?   You choose a wok over fryers, you can kiss your agtag goodbye.

Wok/boiler will be great for doing big batches of carnitas or boiling stuff like potatoes and noodles for the sides. Fryers don't do much for me on sides as most people don't want stuff out of a fryer after about 10 minutes post fry.

Yeah this thing can do 30 at a time, then warming racks for hold, then do butts, ribs and chicken. Griddle for sides and maybe introducing higher end things like seared to order roast steaks cut right from the roast.

Burgers get a lot easier on the griddle and homemade tortillas become a very real possibility.

So you are, in fact, looking at a 1,000 gallon cooker if it's doing 30 at a time.  I like the way this is headed.  I'll be sure to kick in a tailgate donation shortly even though I don't make it to more than one or two per year.  I think, for the good of the children, others should donate as well.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to just get a 100 gallon pot(for boils like crawfish, shrimp etc?) with propane burner? You can also buy a nice separate copper pot at a flea market from the mexicans for carnitas that can be used on the propane.

Yeah, it would be integrated into the setup. That's the point. I don't wanna have go do anything off the trailer and it should fit in a standard parking spot.
