Nevermind. He still has Wemby in the game.

That lineup was trash.

Hahaha I went to go check his scoring title odds.

My books dont have that future nor does kalshi have a market that i could find. But I did just find this on fanduel:

and this on draftkings

I'd be all over that 50-1, but I cant get on fanduel

Fanduel had it +6000 in the 2Q.

I wish I could gamble legally.

That said I think he only wins if he stays healthy and Luka gets hurt and he can edge SGA.

That Lakers team is fucking dogshit. Luka may go for 35 per.

That was a best down. Wemby looked focused and primed to start taking over the league. I actually saw good defense, rotations seemed a bit slow at times. An identity on offense emerged and can only think we can do more when fox gets back on that side of the ball. First time in a decade I wasn't thinking about manu tim or tony at all. Castle is going to be elite very soon. Dude reminds me of D. Rose a bit the way he carries himself on the court. Dude is so damn quick with his hands. Mavs just had nothing besides AD, Flagg was meh didn't see anything impressive. Screenshot_20251022-231211.Chrome.thumb.png.059371bf3a53790289a113bb920b13d8.png

Season opening wins are great, against the Mavs even greater.

But I do miss the shots of Cuban's petulant scowl as they're getting demolished.

82-0, go Spurs go.

Between the asshats that own the Maverick’s now, and Nico’s legendary dumb ass trade, my small affinity for the Mavericks from living in Dallas is gone. GSG.

Lively got his ass beat worse.

I actually thought LIvely was going to just quit after this.... Just get his stuff off the bench and walk out mumbling to himself.

Beyond Wemby looking like a MVP candidate.... Stephon Castle, wow.  His progression from last year.  When he gets his sort of set shot mastered from 3, he's going to be a superstar, but he was putting Cooper Flagg in the spin cycle and just destroying his soul on D.  The rookie looked good and we still didn't have a couple of rotation players.  Great start to hopefully a really good season.

I remember people (and me) losing their minds 35 years ago over David Robinson. Here was a dude with great skills on both sides of the court. And he could dribble! He could run and dribble! It was a huge deal.

Now Wemby is out here with similar if not better defensive skills, not to mention the massive reach, then bringing the ball up, nearly breaking ankles with a crossover and really just toying with dudes to hit a step-back three.

I was able to sell my tickets on StubHub and went to the concert with the missus. I was score-watching a bit and seeing how Wemby, Flagg and Harper were faring. Saw Flagg's donut in the first half. Flipped it on and saw something like 103-76 Spurs and a smile crept across my face. Gonna be fun to be a Spurs fan again. Then I caught a lengthy highlight reel online (mostly Wemby clips) and holy shit does it look like he's ready to become truly one of the two or three best players in the league. Wow!

Also, the Mavs might suck ass.

The announcer “it’s like playing your dad in the driveway when you’re eight years old.”  Lulz

There’s no telling how differently Robinson would be playing in this era. If he were a legitimate three point threat, you would have no chance guarding him off the dribble as fast as he was with that first step. And this is probably blasphemy sprinkled with a heavy dose of recency bias, but Wemby is a markedly better defender. David was ridiculously great, literally one of the best ever, but there’s just never been a player with the reach and timing of Vic that impacts the game like he does.

Yes, the evolution of the game and basically Steph Curry making 3 pointers the highlight reel clip over dunks has created a generation of outside shooters no matter the height and traditional "role."

Robinson of course has so many interesting variables including the HS senior year growth which, if it didn't happen, he's never in the NBA much less college ball. But to your point he very likely could have generated a three point game if he came to basketball in the 2010s instead since he clearly took to the game and adapted so quickly.

Was watching it with my friend and his wife who aren't really big into basketball. Both of them were like wtf are we watching this guy is insane. I think there's a couple of new Spurs fans right there.

Not only is Wemby one of the most talented players we've seen, but he is also one of the most entertaining to watch, even for casual basketball fans.

When this team gets out of the basement and becomes a contender the Spurs marketing department is going to feast.

GSG.

Try the actual Spurs fan shop and not the fanatics regurgitation that every team has. They might have something there.

Thanks. I tried there first. It's similarly a wasteland for good designs.

And nothing for Area 51. I don't think it's a trademark issue, because I even searched it up.

I may pivot from being the Coyote when the Spurs move to Austin to being the official Spurs merch designer.

Risky. Didn't neg, but thought about it.

Ha. My own callback joke to one I made earlier when the "subject to mostly not be discussed in the season thread" was being discussed.

Born and raised in SA and live in Austin but I'd hate them to move. No town fits the Spurs better and vice versa.

I'll shut up on it now.
