They're a dumpster fire with no hope...that completely lucked into the #1 pick through Kyrie and AD injuries. It could very easily be so much worse. Worst trade ever by a country mile. After signing clearly washed Klay because they were so confident that it was time to win now. Just epic mismanagement.

That sounds like a lot:

His 31 missed shots are the most by a player in a game since the 1976-77 merger. The last player to miss that many shots was Rick Barry in 1967, when he went 17-of-50 from the field. Of the 1,534 instances of a 45-point game in NBA history, Cunningham had the second-worst field goal percentage (31.1%), behind only James Harden (20.7%) in 2019.

Harden's box score for that game: 50 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 turnovers, 11-37, 5-20 from 3.....24-24 on free throws.
Steph Curry didn't ruin basketball. Mother fucking James Harden ruined basketball.

Wilt attempted 17 FTs a game one year. Jerry West over 12.

They traded for Kuzma. But he went to the owner and they voided the trade, leading them to get Gafford and PJ. That trade would have been a disaster on the level of Grimes for Martin, but Nico lucked out.

Wilt was an unstoppable force of nature that shot free throws worse than Shaq.

And I'm going to guess that Jerry West wasn't flopping around the court like a fish.

Dallas should blow the whole thing up.  Trade anyone and everyone for young players and picks and build around Cooper.  This roster isn't winning anything.  The timelines are off and that's assuming AD and Kyrie are both going to be healthy at the same time.  (Lulz.)

Nobody’s giving them picks for their uncles.

Suppose gafford and PJW could garnish interest that playoff teams could deem valuable enough to part with a pick

AD & kyrie will be making 100M the the next 2 years after this year. They’re stuck with those who’ll be 35/36 when it’s the final year

Davis and Kyrie still have trade value just not sure what it is. Both of them still play at a high-level you just have to weigh their availability.

Theyre on the books for 3 years including this year

Davis is like 170M for the next 3 years. He’s played in about 30% of the games in Dallas so far.

Who in their right mind would pony up picks and assets for that turd sandwich?

Is he even playing at a high level in the 5 games he’s played? Or is he a shell of his former self

Davis makes 54 million. Who exactly is taking that contract?

They both kind of did.  Everyone tried to copy them and they couldn't because they're not as good.  As a result, you have a Celtics team that just runs down the court and only shoots 3's.  That system works when you have 2 of the greatest shooters in the history of basketball.

Same with Harden's step back.  That's a physically hard shot to make but you had college dudes doing it.

Yes he still plays at a high level. And he's not 36 he's 32. Kyrie is 33.

Like I said I don't know their value but those are absolutely contracts you can trade. AD was 2nd team all-NBA in 2024 and Kyrie made the Finals. Esp. AD who is just out short-term right now.

I mean the guys that are plugged-in think that Ja still has some sort of trade-value. I'd rather have Davis' contract than Ja's.

The Heat are in a destination city, they always think they’re close, in the East, and they struck out on every single star this offseason. You gotta think informal talks are being had about AD and Kyrie.

OKC gave them a 2024 first rounder for the 2028 swap so Dallas could trade that 2024 pick for Gafford.

The 2029 pick was in the Kyrie trade that then went to Houston when Houston/Nets traded some draft capital back and forth.

The Spurs jumped into the Dallas/Boston Grant Williams trade and netted the 2030 swap.

Not Warriors' specific, but it's maddening how NBA front offices and media habitually overvalue what teams do in March and April as they enter the playoffs, even carrying the narrative into the offseason.

"Golden State was 23-8 down the stretch with Butler, so they're privately confident in their chances when healthy."

By March, two-thirds of the league is either pretty comfortable with their seeding range and saving energy for the playoffs, or already booking their Cancun tickets. So you've basically got about 10-12 mediocre teams as the only ones still playing hard to get themselves in or out of the play-in. Every single year, a team or two gets hot against a diluted schedule. It means virtually nothing. But they'll keep pretending it does.

I don't think it's time to hit the panic button just yet. They're .500 and Curry and Horford have missed games. They lost Looney who was pretty much their only big worth a shit last year and a tremendous glue guy. Quentin Post and Trayce Jackson Davis (who has also missed some games this year) aren't exactly putting any fear into anyone. The big question with them has always been health and size. They haven't had a ton of either this year. Even at full strength, they are one of the smallest teams in the league. That Hartenstein/Chet combo was always going to be a bad matchup for them and now they get French Vanilla tonight.

All I know is that I wouldn't want to face a fully healthy Warriors team in a playoff series. There are a ton of dudes on that roster with lots of playoff skins on the wall. They are just going to have to figure out how to bubble gum and band aid themselves into the playoffs. Utah, Memphis, NOLA, Sacramento and Dallas look like they are destined for the bottom. I don't thinking making the play in in the west is going to be as daunting as it originally seemed. But it's still way early....

I wouldn’t either. But they’re old and already getting injured before thanksgiving. Steph will get a mid season knee or ankle injury and shelf him for 3-5 weeks.

So it’s Jimmy, draymond and a band of misfits.

Ok so a lot was forming a roster suitable for Luka that then got dealt for other deals

I was at the game last night.  Not only is GS old now, they're not deep at all.  OKCs "other guys" are tiers better than theirs.

To face them in a playoff series means GS has to get to the playoffs, which I think they will, but what kind of condition will they be in and can they go 100% every other day?  In one game, Steph is still Steph but over a 7 game series, they're not beating any of the top 4 teams in the West.

Yes, they're also small.  All of the other good teams in the West have good bigs.

So, far it's OKC and Denver with Houston being 3rd.  OKC has the best roster by a wide margin.  They only have one loss and Jalen Williams hasn't even played yet and they've had other minor injuries to guys.  Jokic is still a fucking load so in a seven game series, anything is possible from him.

I think you're alone in this. OKC, Denver, Houston, and LAL aren't going to care about facing a fully healthy (if such a thing even exists anymore), small, old ass Warriors' team. One of those teams will almost certainly be waiting for them in Round 1, if they make it in. I'd much rather see Golden State than Minnesota or San Antonio.

I understood trading for Butler and talking themselves into a run last year--OKC was still young, Houston was offensively limited, Denver barely went 5 deep, Luka was fat and hadn't gelled yet--but almost everyone in the West got significantly better this offseason. The Warriors signed Al Horford and are pretending that the Kuminga experiment is still going to work because they have no other options. They've never been more Steph goes crazy or we lose dependent, and the days of him playing 75+ games (regular season+playoffs) are just over.
