I think we're slow playing Gbenda.  I think the shhhss are: T.Owens and M.Washington.

Almost all of the sites have indirectly said the 1st shhhh is Gbenda, apparently he’s waiting on a commitment video, and TFB and I think 247 have said the most recent one is a 2019 defensive player.

Almost assuredly Gbenda and Owens

Apparently this is correct.

Great news, both of those dudes are studs. Those chasing stars need to look at this staffs evaluations and that is one area we should trust them on. Patterson wants Gbenda as badly as he wanted Jamison and Vaughns, that says a lot. Gbenda does not play the recruiting game so he is easy to dismiss by the cleat chaser sites.

I thought GBenda is a 4*. Owens is a 3*.

Eric Nahlin: A look at state-wide receiver recruiting since 2014

Below are guys who were ranked in the composite top 100 for their senior year. Prepare to be surprised at the amount of players who didn't produce as you might have thought, though there is still time for guys in the most recent classes.

2014

KD Cannon - Baylor: Very good college player in a system suited for him
Frank Iheanacho - A&M: Bust
Armanti Foreman - UT: Up and down career, but hey, they got D'Onta
Lorenzo Joe - UT: Quiet career, didn't have a passing game much of his time in Austin
Keenen Brown - OK ST: Ended up switching positions
*4-star cut-off*
Ishmael Zamora - Baylor: Went to Baylor and did s***head things
Emanuel Porter - TCU: Disappointing career
Ian Sadler - TT: Not the career he wanted; showed promise but hurt his knee and wasn't the same
Datrin Guyton - Oregon St: Transferred
Nick Alexander - OU: Transferred
Dorian Leonard - UT: Showed talent at times but inconsistent
Roderick Bernard - UT: Gave up football due to injuries
Chris Platt - Baylor: Became big Hollywood star
Jamal Jeffrey - A&M: Had about 10 career receptions and transferred
Byron Daniels - TT: Juco
James Washington - OK ST: Baller and 2nd round draft pick
T.V. Williams - Kentucky: Didn't do much then transferred
Jakari Dillard - TT: I liked him, but he transferred to Central Arkansas
Raelon Singleton - Utah: Good player for Utah, grad transferred to Houston

2015

Damarkus Lodge - Ole Miss: Disappointing career to say the least
Carlos Strickland - Cal: Transferred to Kansas State, has one more catch than the rest of us combined
JF Thomas - TT: Didn't enroll
Blake Lynch - Baylor: Was an athlete who didn't find a home in HS, same as in college
Ryan Newsome - UT: Transferred to ASU, has 10 career receptions so far
Kemah Siverand - A&M: Moved to cornerback and to Stillwater
Chad President - Tulsa: Wanted to play quarterback, chose poorly
*4-star cut-off*
Keke Coutee - TT: Great system fit, explosive, left early and was drafted in the 4th round
James Proche - SMU: Was a favorite of mine, felt he was an NFL slot, has been productive. Already 19 rec
Jaelen Austin - TCU: Has hung around, solid player
Jarrison Stewart - TCU: Has hung around, solid player, a little more dangerous than Austin
Devontre Stricklin - Baylor: Pretty solid player, career obviously hurt by coaching change
Jalen Guyton - Notre Dame: Playing well at North Texas

2016

Tyrie Cleveland - UF: Talented, big play WR, no quarterback
Devin Duvernay - UT: Starting to see more opportunities, talented but in narrow role
Tren'Davian Dickson - Houston: UT never should have pursued
Quartney Davis - A&M: Talented player who is starting to see more snaps
Dee Anderson - LSU: Ditto, he's made some big catches this year already
Courtney Lark - Houston: Good downfield threat, he'd play at X for Texas
Audie Omotosho - UCLA: RS then was injured
TJ Vasher - TT: Big play receiver with size and hands. Wish he was at UT
*4-star cut-off*
Reggie Hemphill-Mapps - UT: Ugh
Jared Atkinson - Baylor: Used some last year but not much
Lil'Jordan Humphrey - UT: Baller
Denzel Mims - Baylor: Really good player
Kendrick Rogers - A&M: Came in raw but with lots of upside, could be very good
Zach Farrar - OU: Transferred out
Kofi Boateng - Arkansas: Injuries ended his career (damn, good kid)

2017

Tyrell Shavers - Alabama: Longer curve player, has yet to register a reception
Jalen Reagor - TCU: Ready-made stud
Tylan Wallace - OK ST: Talented player, having a breakout with James Washington gone
CeeDee Lamb - OU: Ready-made stud who had a monster senior year
Damion Miller - UT: Juco, didn't qualify
Omar Manning - TCU: Aloofness caught up with him, now in Juco
Charleston Rambo - OU: Hasn't played much in a talented WR grouping, always needed to add weight
Hezekiah Jones - A&M: Good speed, has played some with a few catches
Shamond "LC" Greenwood - OK ST: Hasn't done anything yet
Mannie Netherly - LSU: Moved to corner
KD Nixon - Colorado: Has 10 catches this year, saw limited action last year
*4-star cut-off*
Cameron Buckley - A&M: Possession guy who knows how to get open. solid player
Roshauud Paul - A&M: Punt returner and has a handful of catches early in his career
Tyquez Hampton - Utah
Gavin Holmes - Baylor: Burner, has a few receptions
RJ Sneed - Baylor: More of a possession guy, just has to wait his turn
Sam Crawford - Tulsa: Nothing
Laviska Shenault - Colorado: Balling this season after a quiet freshman year
Maleek Barkley - Arkansas: Transferred
Kenedy Snell - TCU: Speed demon but TCU has a lot of those
Octavius Evans - Boise St: Had 15 receptions last year

2018

Jaylen Waddle - Alabama: Already a good punt returner; dangerous receiver
Brennan Eagles - UT: Playing, has one nice reception thus far
Jalen Preston - A&M: Playing and has a reception
Josh Moore - UT: Playing and already belongs
Al'Vonte Woodard - UT: RS
Tommy Bush - Georgia
Tevailance Hunt - TCU
Erik Ezukanma - TT: Playing already
Joshua Fleeks - Baylor: Playing already
Gabriel Douglas - N/Q
Miles Battle - Ole Miss
Caleb Chapman - A&M
*4-star cut-off*
Montel Parker - A&M
Kalon Barnes - Baylor
Kam Scott - Mizzou: Playing early in his career
Jalen Knox - Mizzou: Already a baller. I knew it
Ke'Von Ahmad - UCF
Jaylon Robinson - OU
Bryson Jackson - TCU
Jonathan Shepherd - OK ST
Treveon Johnson - SMU
Danny Gray - Mizzou
Drue Jackson - Washington St
Michael Woods - Arkansas: Liked him and checked on a whim, he's playing and has 4/61
Taye Barber - TCU: Already playing in a loaded position grouping; 6 receptions
Stefan Cobbs - Boise St
Myller Royals - TT

The best receiver/s for these schools this decade:

A&M: A basketball player few knew of and a stud from Arizona -- Mike Evans and Christian Kirk

TCU: A transfer from Wyoming by way of Mansfield Legacy -- Josh Doctson

TT: A system like this will produce interesting results: A crafty and physically strong slot, a pseudo TE, an electric slot, and your more conventional slot -- Eric Ward, Jace Amaro, Jake Grant, Keke Coutee

OU: A hometown stud, a Californian, an instate legacy, and a Floridian -- Ryan Broyles, Kenny Stills, Sterling Shepard, Marquise Brown

OK ST: An instate .85 rated player is easily their best, but another .85 was their second best -- Justin Blackmon, James Washington

Baylor: Two East Texans and a player Texas didn't quite pull the trigger on -- Kendall Wright, KD Cannon, Corey Coleman

UT: What a depressing stroll down memory lane -- Jaxon Shipley?

What am I trying to say?

Hell if I know. Despite the resources this state produces, UT's two best current receivers are a legacy from California and a total anomaly. It's easy to see Texas has missed on receivers -- especially promising receivers just settling into their career -- but so too has everyone else. What other schools have going for them is coherent offense year in, year out. Texas has offered a semblance of a coherent offense just three times this decade: in 2012, in 2016, and now.  The current offense may not appear as sexy as the others mentioned, but the position produced at a high level at Houston.

This season we've seen promising moments from Lil'Jordan Humphrey, Collin Johnson, and also some missed opportunities that at least offer hope for the scheme. The scheme doesn't guarantee the type of production as other schemes we're familiar with. Texas Tech could start four guys from the comments and still put up numbers. The same goes for OU, TCU, and OK ST. Because of this, I'd posit recruiting individual talent is even more important to Texas than its rivals, and they should look nationally in every cycle rather than just relying on instate talent.

Please don’t tease us. We haven’t had a legitimate RB since Benson. I love Charles as much as the next but give me a power back.... please.

Benson was great, but I think a take-it-to-the-house-from-75-yards-out-like-Charles guy is just what we need. Is that Sanders?
