Btw - he’s so inaccurate that even aggy has to point out that he has accuracy issues. Weird ass combine goes as expected. Incredible athlete. Marginal passer. Lots of mechanical issues. Aggy raging on his ranking.

delicious.

Know still kinda early, but who are they targeting at RB for 22' class?  Blue isn't going to them and they only other Texas RB with an offer is Jones, who may end up at Texas if we take 2/miss on Blue.  They haven't offered Price.  Maybe some New Jersey or Pennsylvania RB?

They’ll have to spend for a national name. It’s a relatively shallow class in-state. I think we’ll be lucky to land Tavorus and Blue. Jones will continue to explode, his offers are all from sophomore tape. Without camps, the services are still behind. His offer sheet speaks volumes. Like Cooks.

Beyond those two, the state is thin. Price is interesting, but a pass for me. Doesn’t seem like running back is his natural position. aggy will probably grab a Garza type for their rb2 and open the checkbook for whoever will listen. Maybe tamper for a transfer.

“4 carries/game” wut. Somehow they’ve twisted Sam’s sophomore rushing campaign into Texas doesn’t use running backs. Of all their inaccurate musings, this is a weird one.

shit man they have no clue..  This past week an aggy from DFW called in on the FirstTeam show on siriusxm, said he expected aggy to be a real surprise this season.  Jimbo is recruiting  players that can win championships.  DL/OL is weak in Texas so they get players in proven areas outside the state.  Said a championship team can't be Texas heavy smh.  It's like Sam Cosmi, Walker Little and Jack Anderson weren't from the state..  Surprised that Danny K didn't bring up Marvin WIlson being from Texas.

Can Vandy realistically keep it close against aggy?  I know they'll probably be complete dog shit offensively, but Dmitri Moore just decided to return which means they return all 11 defensive starters and a lot of these guys are multi-year starters.

No. We want it to happen but no. I know the preseason is the time we all speculate the Aggy will lose 7 games, but their team is way too talented to lose to Vandy. They’ve bought some good players. Their OL is meh but they have the talent to win the games they should.

This is the right answer. Jimbo's coasting, but he's not at "last year at Florida State" levels of actively burning the program down. He'll put away Vandy.

Lots of pressure to beat LSU in College Station. If they can't beat LSU this year it's definitely not happening on a consistent basis under Jimbo.

Yep.

Funny how the reigning national champion, who beat the Aggies 50 - 7 and have been ranked in the top 10 in the polls, will be considered the underdog by many people.

- ESPN updated their FPI once or twice;  in the current rev, the Aggies are still the big underdogs at home. 37.5% chance of winning.  Don't know which players were factored into their calculations - only the official departures, or some opt-outs as well.  (I don't think they are updating the stat on a running basis, so Chase isn't factored in.)

- Another interesting thing I noticed (unless my memory is incorrect).  When ESPN updated the FPI after the new schedules were released, the individual win %s for some games against opponents who were already on their schedule, went down.  Why would that happen?  (I don't think the locations were changed to their detriment.)  And I believe their opponents lost more players to opt-outs, etc., so that couldn't be the reasons.  (Also, to be clear, I'm talking individual win%s, not full season numbers, which would be affected by the addition of FLA/TENN.)

Aggie 247 /Brian Perroni / Texas A&M's 10 most wanted: Where things stand in recruiting

Spoiler

Texas A&M's 10 most wanted: Where things stand in recruiting
BRIAN PERRONI

Texas A&M currently has 14 commitments in the class of 2021. With two prospects from the class of 2020 counting forward to this class, that means the Aggies still have nine spots available.

The good news is that A&M is in on a number of top prospects, both from in the state of Texas as well as all over the country. And, the Aggies are in good shape with a number of them.

Though this is not all of the remaining A&M targets and is obviously not the Aggies’ official board, this is a good bet as to who the top 10 remaining targets are for the Maroon and White.

The first five or so could go in pretty much any order as they are all huge targets that the team feels are must-lands.

DT TYWONE MALONE, ORADELL (N.J.) BERGEN CATHOLIC

(Photo: Brian Dohn, 247Sports)

The 6-foot-3.5, 300-pound Tywone Malone is one of the top overall targets remaining, regardless of position. Ranked as the No. 55 overall prospect in the country, he has been to Aggieland before and liked what he saw.

Malone has a top five but A&M, Ohio State and Ole Miss are the main three fighting for his services. The Buckeyes picked up a DT commit last week, but it does not affect their pursuit of Malone. But A&M has something in its favor as he is a standout first baseman and plans to play baseball in college, too. The Aggie baseball staff has been in contact and it helps with the team being in the SEC.

Malone does not plan to make a commitment until announcing at the Under Armour All-American Game in early January but A&M has as good or better a shot as any of the schools in that top three. The Aggies have done a great job of making him a priority and he likes the idea of playing in the SEC in both football and baseball.

RB LJ JOHNSON, HOUSTON CY-FAIR

(Photo: Brian Perroni, 247Sports)

A&M wants two running backs in the class and LJ Johnson is the top target as the between-the-tackles runner. The 5-foot-11.5, 205-pounder is a national top-50 prospect that has both speed and power.

Johnson has a top six of A&M, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas but it is the two in-state schools that are in locked in the biggest battle for him at the moment. Once looking like he would end up in College Station, Texas really made up a bunch of ground over the summer and probably took the lead for Johnson.

Johnson does not have a decision timeline, though, and would prefer to take official visits first, if they are allowed. A&M, including Jimbo Fisher, has been in even more frequent contact with him lately and is letting him know how much of a priority he is. This one could go either way and fans should not sleep on LSU either.

DE TUNMISE ADELEYE, KATY TOMPKINS

(Photo: Brian Perroni, 247Sports)

Five-star Tunmise Adeleye was at IMG Academy in Florida for the spring semester and, while there, he made an earlier-than-planned commitment to Ohio State, announcing his pledge in April. Now back home in Katy, though, he decommitted from the Buckeyes earlier this month.

Even before the decommitment, the 6-foot-3, 250-pound defender was in frequent contact with A&M, along with Alabama and Florida as well. Now, it is those three teams that are battling for him, though the Buckeyes can’t be counted out.

The Aggies have the distance factor in their favor but Florida really made a big impression in the short time he was in the Sunshine State for school. Adeleye does not plan to announce again for him time, potentially waiting until the Under Armour Game to do so. The Aggies were his first offer and have consistently been in his top group. This one is going to be an all-out battle with those other two schools but A&M is positioning itself well.

OG BRYCE FOSTER, KATY TAYLOR

(Photo: Brian Perroni, 247Sports)

Bryce Foster is the lone interior prospect being recruited by A&M in this class and he does not plan to announce until his birthday in December, which is the final day of the Early Signing Period.

Oklahoma is in good shape with the 6-foot-4.5, 315-pounder and would almost assuredly be his choice if he committed today. However, A&M has a lot going in its favor.

Foster’s mother went to A&M and his older brother played for the Aggies as well. The distance from home is also a selling point. What needs to happen, though, is for A&M to win on the field this fall. Playing a 10-game, SEC-only schedule, if the Aggies can prove to be one of the conference’s top teams, that will get Foster’s attention for sure. But, at the moment, the Sooners and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh are in good shape.

DE SHEMAR TURNER, DESOTO

(Photo: Brian Perroni, 247Sports)
Shemar Turner had a big junior season, which made the 6-foot-3.5, 282-pound defender an even bigger target for his whole top group. Turner has a final five of A&M, Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Texas.

Though Georgia and LSU are involved, the main three players are A&M, Alabama and Texas. Turner is a big fan of Aggie defensive ends coach Terry Price, who has done a very good job recruiting him. Von Miller also hails from DeSoto and the two have had a chance to meet. Miller definitely loves the Aggies, so that does not hurt.

Turner made his way on a visit to Texas two weekends ago but, because it is a dead period, had to show himself around and could not talk with the coaches. He is planning a similar trip to A&M soon as well.

Depending on who you talk to, they will list either A&M or Texas as the current leader. But, no matter what, the Aggies are in good shape. Turner does not plan to make a decision soon but A&M is doing very well in this recruitment.

S TERRION ARNOLD, TALLAHASSEE (FLA.) JOHN PAUL II

(Photo: Andrew Ivins, 247Sports)

The Aggies likely will end up with just one more defensive back in the class and they love Terrion Arnold. The 6-foot, 180-pound defender recently announced a top 11 and the Aggies made the cut.

However, at the moment, the nation’s No. 172 prospect is as much a longshot as any player on this list. He says he wants to officially visit Aggieland, should visits be allowed at some point, but Alabama and the in-state programs of Florida and Florida State are in the best shape right now. The Gators have a lot of momentum at the moment.

Arnold is familiar with Jimbo Fisher as he was friend with the family when they were in Tallahassee. That certainly helps A&M but the Aggies really need to get him on campus before they have a true shot here.

RB AMARI DANIELS, MIAMI (FLA.) CENTRAL

(Photo: Brian Perroni, 247Sports)

With Johnson as the top between-the-tackles running back target, Amari Daniels is the top all-purpose back the Aggies are after. He camped in College Station last summer and was impressive in his performance while he liked what he saw in Aggieland.

The 5-foot-8, 195-pound back does not have a timeline for a decision. He had hoped to make a commitment before his senior season and that still could happen as the Rockets’ opener has been moved back to Sep. 16. But, he might decide to wait.

A&M looked like it would be the choice for a while but in-town Miami has really turned up the heat on him. The Canes are doing a very good job with South Florida prospects this year and will be tough to beat here. If Georgia pushes, the Bulldogs are also a threat.

Should A&M not land Daniels, look for them to push hard for four-star Ahmonte Watkins of Klein Forest.

WR JOJO EARLE, ALEDO
JoJo Earle
(Photo: Collin Kennedy, 247Sports)

The Aggies only plan to take two wide receivers in the class and, with one commitment already, can be very selective with the second spot. Though he is committed to LSU, JoJo Earle is the prize that A&M wants to land.

The 5-foot-9.5, 175-pound playmaker, ranked as the No. 75 prospect in the country, committed to the Tigers without having visited Baton Rouge. He is still at least listening to other schools, and that includes A&M.

The Aggies have not done well at Aledo over the years but a winning season on the field could go a long way toward potentially convincing Earle to flip. However, at the moment, it is very much an uphill battle.

TE/DE DAMETRIOUS CROWNOVER, GRANDVIEW

(Photo: Andrew Hattersley, 247Sports)

A&M has long liked Dametrious Crownover as a jumbo athlete. He plays both tight end and defensive end for the Zebras and the Aggies want to get him on campus and figure out his best position later.

This spring and summer, four-star Crownover added quite a bit of weight and is up to 6-foot-6, 275 pounds. While that would seem to signal that his future is on defense, he looked good at tight end in his season opener this past Friday, despite being 275 pounds.

Crownover’s older brother Earnest is a running back for A&M while his father, also named Earnest, played for Baylor. The Aggies and Bears are both very much in the running with the fact that Baylor basketball is also recruiting him helping their cause. Nebraska should not be counted out either.

Crownover does not have a timeline for a decision but is another player that wants to take visits. A&M is in good shape with it is by no means a done deal.

DB MJ DANIELS, LUCEDALE (MISS.) GEORGE COUNTY

(Photo: Sun Herald)

MJ Daniels is a versatile defensive back and, with only one likely spot left in the secondary, is a selling point with him. The Aggies are recruiting the 6-foot-3, 200-pounder at cornerback but he could play safety as well.

The four-star Daniels recently released a top four that was made up of A&M, Georgia, Mississippi State and Ole Miss. He had previously been committed to Ole Miss at one point but it is State that is probably the biggest competition for the Aggies at this point.

A&M has a familiar face on campus as his former teammate and cousin McKinnley Jackson is a true freshman defensive tackle for the Aggies. That definitely helps the Maroon and White in trying to land him. However, getting him out of the state might be the toughest part as the Bulldogs have done a good job. As of now, there is no timeline for a decision.

Others to watch: Miami (Fla.) Central ATH Yulkeith Brown; San Diego (Calif.) Morse RB Byron Cardwell; McKinney North WR JJ Henry; Philadelphia (Pa.) Neumann-Goretti S Tysheem Johnson; Arnaudville (La.) Beau Chene OT Devon Manuel; La Porte DE Albert Regis; Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep DT Taleeq Robbins; Butler (Kan.) C.C, OT Javonne Shepherd; Klein Forest RB Ahmonte Watkins

RB LJ JOHNSON, HOUSTON CY-FAIR

Texas really made up a bunch of ground over the summer and probably took the lead for Johnson.

Jimbo Fisher, has been in even more frequent contact with him lately and is letting him know how much of a priority he is.

A) Texas leads but I know I can't come right out and say it because of delusional, snowflake aggy fans

B) Coach Cuck has been begging him mercilessly on Zoom calls at 3 hrs a clip

They'll buy one or two who other schools don't feel like matching for, similar to Chris Morris, Donell Harris, and McKinnley Jackson

Here is the aggy breakdown of carries last season:

Those dummies need to realize that very few RB's now want to be run into the ground in college.  LJ is one of the smart ones and realizes that it benefits him to share carries in college - if he's good enough it won't matter to the NFL that he split carries with a couple of other backs.

As for Isiah Spiller -

image.png.d5177d3d38a15d0581cdf40713828601.png

439 of his 946 yards came against UTSA, Texas State, and Lamar.

He averaged 50 yards and 3.8 per carry in the other 10 games.

Someone refresh my memory -- without the pandemic, weren't they going to have a backup QB working as 2nd-string RB in spring ball?

That qualifies as a logjam?
