  1. Past hour
  2. I am not understanding the logic -- wouldn't you want to hire the guy that beat your last coach?
  3. Not like I know either guy, but James Franklin comes across as a genuine piece of shit that you would hate to have to spend any time with, whereas Marcus Freeman seems like such a good guy that he can make otherwise sensible people actually consider rooting for Notre Dame just a tiny bit.
  4. Look at the bright side. You won't have to watch FNC all day with grandma and grandpa.
  5. Don't forget the year before that when we beat Alabama soundly in Tuscaloosa was not the same Alabama that was so good later. Now it's we beat a really good ND! They're playing with confidence. If the players soak up all the hysteria of the fans, they a short step away from overconfidence. They're about to earn their money, so they better be ready. It's no more, we beat a shitty team worse than tu or OU. They have to win road games that will be tough environments with a couple of good teams in there before they come play Texas.
  6. Tomorrow's traffic cone is Arkansas (5-12, 1-5 SEC) They opened the SEC season with a 3-2 win over Ole Miss and then lost 5 straight - 1-3, 0-3, 0-3, 1-3, 1-3. Which included a string of dregs in Vandy, Georgia and South Carolina, where they managed to win 2 sets They are hitting .210 as a team, have twice as many errors as aces (75 aces / 151 errors) and average 1.92 blocks per set. Finally, a team we should out block easily! We are up to .304 as a team (.327 in SEC play), a respectable 64 aces to 97 errors and 2.01 blocks per set (boy that just keeps creeping down, at what point do we fall under 2 bps?)
  7. Also stupid James Franklin against top 25 teams - 15-28 at PSU Marcus Freeman - 14-7 James Franklin fucking wishes.
  8. I said that should've been a penalty. Don't worry, if Texas does that in Athens it'll be a personal foul and targeting.
  9. @BallamaticBevo your choice between Greg's Grand Team and Sir this was a Wemby's.
  10. I did about 8500 shares yesterday, but managed to get it at 1.17. I'm trying to decide whether to swing or sit.
  11. Maybe, I never asked about the consequences. I guess they diminish as the value of the peso decreases.
  12. Bruce Pearl is headed to TNT to do guest appearances on a college basketball show with Jalen Rose, Jamal Mashburn and Chris Webber And Steven lost his first (unofficial) exhibition game to OKST in OT 78 FTs. Refs were in midseason form with bullshit lol
  13. It still remains to be seen, but it'll be a fun ride. Utah is probably a decent barometer. They're one of the best running teams in the country, their offensive line consistently grades out as one of the best in college football, they have at least 2 first round draft picks on the OL, and we completely manhandled them in their own stadium. The difference this year, at least so far, is that we really pass the eye test. I've watched a lot of Tech football and this team just looks and feels different. We've completely dominated everyone we've played so far in the trenches, and we can run the ball very well. It will be interesting to see how our numbers hold up through the 2nd half of the season: Total offense - 1st Rushing offense - 14th Passing offense - 3rd Total defense - 9th Rushing defense - 1st Passing defense - 41st The main thing I am concerned about moving forward are our pass defense, which honestly hasn't really been tested, as in facing a good, veteran QB with multiple weapons. Kansas sort of fits that bill but only sort of. They have a decent passing offense, but not great. Baylor and TCU have good passing games but we don't play either team. We have good talent in the secondary, they are really good in run support, but they've really just been able to coast so far in the passing game and it's only a matter of time before they get punched in the mouth. We face [probably not 100%] Sam Leavitt this week and he has one of the best WRs in America to throw to, but who else do they have beyond that? Not much, really. The secondary thing is the obvious one: Morton's health. Dude has the absolute worst luck, got his leg rolled up on in the Kansas game in a really awkward way that re-aggravated some calf/ankle issue he's been dealing with. I think he probably could have kept playing, but it's good that we can pull him and keep him out as a precaution because there's not much drop off between him and Hammond. Still, we need him to stay healthy and play well to get where we want to go. We kind of have the same questions as Ohio State, not trying to draw a comparison here between our programs at all, but who have they really played? No shade to Texas, I'm pretty much discounting entirely a week 1 game against a super green Arch Manning that had just been handed the keys facing the defending national champions in their own building. Outside of that game, they have really played nobody at all and there's a chance they won't play another ranked team for the rest of the season unless Michigan turns their season around. It's difficult to know exactly how good they are. Same thing with Oregon, they got physically dominated by the only good team on their schedule so far, in their own building, and the only good team left on their schedule is USC in late November.
  14. Pics of wife are mandatory for the complete Surly experience.
  15. Aaronson has been playing pretty well in the prem this year even though it's not showing up on the stat sheet. Since he was put into the starting line-up, they have 4 points in 4 matches and should have had a draw against Fulham but lost it in stoppage time. I'd still like to have him on the squad, but I'm trying to figure out who I'd leave off to bring him in.

  17. Another 30 years and those two trees in the drawing might actually give some nice shade.
  18. They will either freefall collapse by gameday or they will go up from here as people get excited about the team again. $300 each is not a bad deal. So some musts on your trip: Tex-Mex (Matt's El Rancho, Maudies, Polvos all near downtown) Texas BBQ (Surly Tailgate or LA BBQ/Franklins if you order now online) Check out "Dirty 6th" (under 21 allowed on streets go from 7-9PM) See some live music (https://www.acllive.com/event/2025-11-21-the-damn-torpedoes-a-tribute-to-tom-petty-and-the-heartbreakers-at-8-pm or keep an eye on the Moody Amphitheater calendar. https://www.moodyamphitheater.com/) Check out Zilker Park/Town Lake/Auditorium Shores (rent a bike and go around the hike and bike) ------------------ Everything else is pretty optional and choose your own adventure but I would plan my itinerary around those core things. As for getting to campus and out, if you don't buy parking the best option is to uber to the north side of the stadium off Dean Keaton and Robert Dedman (snarfs sandwiches) and walk right into the tailgate area, longhorn city limits and bevo blvd where the players and bevo walk into the stadium. Its walkable to the southside of the stadium but its a shitshow and there's nothing really going on over there except sholtz beer garden which is a bar style tailgate with about a 12 minute walk to the stadium after. You will want to go inside the stadium probably an hour before kick to check it all out and get to your seats with time to get comfortable and settled in. Going in your assigned gate is optional, it doesn't save much time. After the game it is good to stay through "The Eyes of Texas" especially if you aren't driving, then it clears out and you can walk out the north side for more beers at tailgate or walk out the south side to get easy access to downtown - probably best to walk the 15-20 minutes back because uber and traffic are nuts and it's optimized for foot-traffic to the garages downtown. (Pedicab could be clutch here too) You want more specific recommendations or like a more degenerate experience let me know.
  19. We'd have the ability to beat Florida?
