Tracking Trump Administration and Cabinet picks

If you cannot understand, then you should feign expertise. -
the best thing about last night... we walked into a home of engaged, motivated and happy people, who care for one another and others and they were straight, gay, white, Hispanic, black, men and women (including trans) and it was amazing, normal, refreshing, and just undeniably right. there can be hope.

Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]
Guadaloopy replied to MaybeACoordinator's topic in Daily Texan
Sure, they CAN do it. But for many people, it will directly cost them thousands of dollars. And what does that loss of thousands actually do? Tesla still has still been paid or will get paid for that vehicle. Re-selling a vehicle that has already been purchased from Tesla makes zero financial impact to the company and Musk. Attributing some sort of moral failure or lack of empathy to people who do not sell their Teslas is pretty unfair. Asking people to eat thousands of dollars to make a completely symbolic gesture is unrealistic. It doesn’t make someone a bad person if they choose not to accept financial hardship in order to meet your arbitrary standard for ideological purity or political solidarity. -
Guy Ritchie + Tom Hardy = Mobland

For anyone else who watches this with the subtitles turned on, pay close attention to the lyrics of the opening song - it's utterly incomprehensible to me, and I'm curious whether anyone else can make heads or tails of what it's supposed to be about, what it communicates, what general vibe it's supposed to impart, etc. -

This is Earl Campbell’s experience with Arky: quote: In Arkansas, raising the Texas Longhorns' "Hook 'em Horns" hand gesture is frowned upon by most Razorbacks fans. But on Monday afternoon at the Little Rock Touchdown Club's luncheon at the Embassy Suites, one of the greatest Longhorns got away with it. As Earl Campbell, 63, walked to his chair on the Touchdown Club stage, he gave the sign as most of the crowd roared with laughter. "Only Earl Campbell can come in here and do a 'Hook 'em Horns' sign and not be booed out of the room," said David Bazzel, the Touchdown Club founder and former Razorbacks linebacker. In a 13-9 victory at the University of Arkansas on Oct. 15, 1977, Campbell rushed for 188 yards on 34 carries. While Campbell didn't score a touchdown against the Razorbacks, his only reception was one of the biggest plays for the Longhorns. A 28-yard screen pass from Randy McEachern to Campbell set up Ham Jones' go-ahead 1-yard touchdown run in the fourthquarter. Campbell said he remembered the screen pass, but it was the postgame moment that heremembers the most. "I remember coming to Arkansas and getting the screen pass and all that," Campbell said."Then, 'Bam! What is that?' Cops were telling me to 'keep your head down, son. They're throwing bottles at you.' I said, 'I didn't do anything.' Cops said, 'Just get your a** out of here.' "

2025 NHL Playoffs Thread - Let the madness begin!

True, but I hope they stick with Bedsy. Agreed. I think it would be a mistake to fire him, especially considering like half the league is looking for a new coach now. They already shipped off a top player for greener grass - maybe learn from that and keep the good stuff you do have. -

I'll say this, there were probably a shitload of semi-casual fans who were at the game last night who weren't sure about that pick up but are 100% sold on Rantanen now. -

Another thing I learned about his brother Shilo was he "played" for Scar before following daddy. He's also 25, which is...almost Chris Weinke age when he went back to college. Not sure how he's gonna pay that dude $7m, but it won't be making my Bucs roster an UDFA. -
Froggies break the LA stranglehold, Spanish Olympians handle business. They’ll look a lot different next year, but flags fly forever.

One (really more than one) factor in the Arkansas rivalry is that things have changed outside of athletics and general university rivalries. Before WWII, Arkansas and Texas were more similar than different, rural agrarians plus oil. But Texas blew up in the post-war economy while Arkansas struggled with a post-rural economy. Thus bred the general jealousy expressed in the university/sports rivalry. But with Walmart and the resurgence of NWA, things are starting to equalize a bit. The rurals that probably fueled aspects of the rivalry are even more marginalized than before. And, of course, UA is full of Texans now.

The Dallas Stars 2025 Playoff Thread
Longhorn_Fan68 replied to Longhorn_Fan68's topic in Other Sports
well, he has 8 years to prove me right. but you're conflating skill with accomplishments. superstar players have languished on bad teams and never won anything - that doesn't negate their individual greatness. Robo is already a statistically better player than Modano. That wasn't a particularly high bar when you look at what elite players are doing today. Even with the cup team, our superstars were rentals. And even they didn't have the kind of numbers Rantanen puts up. He is the best pure player to skate for the Stars - remains to be seen if he's revered at the same level as his skill -

The way we ended the regular season, so you blame any of them? After a game and a half I was resigned to being swept. -

^ that really underscores the two approaches from two very different GM's. Nill's slow burn approach has us icing 11 players on the current roster who the Stars drafted: Benn, Bourque, Back, Hintz, Johnston, Robertson, Bichsel, Harley, Heiskanen, Lindell, Oettinger. The Avs have 3: MacKinnon, Makar, Landeskog - that's it. I think regardless of what happens this season, Nill has put us in a position where all he has to do is swap out a player or two and send everyone back out there. Colorado is going to have to revamp their lineup every season for the foreseeable future, so that author above is correct. Could take a decade to fix this mess. Probably not, but could. -
Came to post this Im also pretty fucking sure Schloss knows there is plenty of hatred that Arky has for us. Saying being unprepared for that aspect is one of the reason we lost is laughable they beat us straight up. We played like shit. It wasnt because we were scared or lacked fire. Jfc guys

Yeah, I think apathy and general disengagement has been a major factor and once those (the convinceable middle to me) see things up close and personal, they realize what a traveshamockery it all is.

Everything is Shit: Tracking the Great Enshittening

True to form, DOJ is about a decade late to the party to prevent the actual market harms. Much of the erosion of our fundamental privacy has been driven by their need for user data to enable finer and finer microtargetted ads. Goddamn we need a US GDPR so badly -
Fantastic work!

To lay claim to that title, imo you have to accomplish greatness with the Stars, not just teams prior to the Stars. Who cares whether Emmitt Smith is the greatest RB in Arizona Cardinal history. He didn’t do anything for the Cardinals. So given that criteria, while last night was amazing, Rantanen has a long way to go to get that title for the Stars. But I understand what you’re saying.

I'm not evdn joking, sports illustrateed said he was a 5* long snapper. That has.fo he a first. Welcome to the 40, lod.

And yet, the entire legal profession takes him at his world and treat his words as serious, even when it's clearly a lie. Thats how we got into this mess
