Where is the evidence that this generation is more intolerant compared to prior generations? When I was in high school, if you came out as gay, you were ostracized. We’ve come a long, long way since then.
-
If you know anyone going to the game this weekend or interested in just watching with cool people point them to the tailgate.
-
You connect in Denver so from Texas not a big delay. Yeah it’s an hour from Cody. He is looking for cheaper options, that’s one of the ways to find them. Probably not more than 90 minutes from Billings too if that’s an easier flight for some reason.

If? bruh. Japan cracking our ass if we fielding another heavy mls squad

Groups like TPUSA and after October 7, some pro-Israel orgs have really picked up on the opening in recent years. Their stuff is often astro-turfed but they are using the structures and arguments in place. Student “safety” has been a big winning argument to silence and sanction people and that one got ripped directly from left-leaning successes. The really disturbing new element is that the feds have put their thumb on the scale. This case is fairly boring on it’s face, what’s notable is that the university admin had the right initial instinct— to tell the student that no one was getting fired. And they did an about face under implicit threats to lose federal funding. The Feds and the right are being mendacious and hypocritical and have no good will here. At the same time academia as an institution has been woefully bad for a long time at genuine defense of academic freedom and free speech. -
Can we talk about Alabama and Michigan and objectivity?

Well put and a summary of an opinion that I agree with. It will never happen because arguing about ratings pre-season has almost become a sport of its own. However, the BCS ratings (or whatever they're called this season) have begun late in the season in an attempt to get things right. That said, they are influenced by polls and ratings. Back we are at the start. In my life, I've often seen Texas overrated at the beginning of the season and been proven right. Ironically, one of my favorite seasons for the Longhorns, 1977. saw us as merely receiving votes prior to the first game. Even losing our first and second team QBs playing OU, we proceeded with Earl Campbell and a great defense to an undefeated regular season. We were number one through much of that until ND did what they do in the Cotton Bowl. I write about Texas to show how the so-called blue bloods don't feel entitled to inflated rankings nor do they have much to do promoting them. It's the parrot world of sports writers and pundits who are responsible. The same guys who for years used the term "shadow of their own goal line" and changed mano a mano (hand to hand) to mano y mano (hand and hand) to mean man to man. Idiots. BTW, I like Tech. -
Starting to see some of this. Plus I am far far away from the backpack 20 something crowd. I'm more of a 4 star AC private bath kind of traveler

I actually went to a Texans game in Houston and sat in the club seats, ate mediocre bbq, but generally had a fun time. I went to a Bengals game in Cincy for TNF a few years ago as well which was surprisingly great (mostly because it's fun for a Thursday and the stadium is downtown near the restaurants and bars). The only two times I've gone to NFL games post-covid. Now going to an NFL game where you have to tailgate and then go to a 12 noon kick with a general admission seat with the general public? I am with you on that. Hard pass.

“Cherry picking” Fucking press charges against Clinton if he did anything illegal. Please. I think the vast majority of democrats would agree, as opposed to 99.99% of republicans who continue to fight any sort of justice when it comes to their cult leader.

I've thought it was bizarre from the beginning. I have an idea if Epstein and company want to make more money at a racetrack-- how 'bout, hold more RACES??? Also, PROMOTE those races??? Just spit-balling here.

I will say this, too. When I wrote above, evidently incorrectly, about university administrators not taking official adverse action based on student protest or denunciation, I was basing it on my own observation of mostly "local" meaning in-state events. In keeping with what Texas used to be, I'm thinking the administrations were pretty live-and-let-live about this sort of thing, borne out by what Welsh did even at the highly conservative lapdog eaTme. Whereas it seems the historical sanctions came from more east coast type places (Central Florida, wth?). The futility of student protests and denunciations at local unis was one of the hallmarks of them. Again, see shanty. So much for that.

TT has one ugly home schedule. They hosted Ark-Pine Bluff and Kent State, destroying both. Next is what I think has to be their marquee no -conference game- Oregon State. The Beavers are 0-2, with a lower Sagarin than the shittiest B12 program. Their next home game is Kansas. Next is OSU, which probably looked a lot better on the schedule a couple of years ago. Then, BYU visits, and this will be a well attended game, BYU being the conference’s highest profile team now. Finally, UCF visits. UCF is a big school that doesn’t travel. That is quite a slate.

I used to drive it often. If you are close enough to downtown in Houston and close enough to Love field in Dallas, Von Lane is a very nice option.

no clue at all -
I guess you would fly into Cody? That would be a long travel day with connecting flights and a one hour+ drive. Then you have to figure out something about keeping a vehicle at the airport. I wanted something I could fly into direct in the summer. I keep a car at my house and just have family pick me up or take a 10 minute uber.

My entire family bought homes up there in the last few years. The real estate is very reasonable, IMO. Relative to a lot of places. To me, for the beauty, access to mountains/rivers/lakes, great nearby airport, ski resort, and being just down the street from Glacier NP, it's a steal. Prices have dropped a bunch after the Covid spike. My uncle bought a home in the Whitefish Hills neighborhood, which is literally 4 minutes from town. He got 20 acres with spectacular views, a 6500 sf main house, a massive garage where he can park a 40 foot RV and it has an additional 1200 sf apartment for $3.5 million. In Aspen, a house like that on land would probably be $100 million. If you rent by the month, you can probably get something more reasonable. I would call a realtor that is local. Here is who we used, she's awesome. https://revel.realestate/agents/amy-stevens/
