  1. Past hour
  2. So you are saying Dubai and Labubu's are the Starbucks of chocolate? Noted.
  3. A huge advantage if you are a privately held company with a small board or a board that is all in agreement. Example, the CEO of Nike is a TCU alum, he has been a higher up for years, has a great relationship with Phil, and Elliott has been on TCU's board of trustees and a big donor for the school. He and his wife recently funded a a new dorm I believe in the Greek area of campus. I am pretty sure that while Elliott will do whatever he can to help TCU athletics, but their board and shareholders wouldn't be happy if he used Nike as a tool to fund the Frog's NIL program.
  4. I believe one factor for suburban kids going to Ole Miss, LSU, Bama, etc is because those schools are offering really good academic scholarships to get them. Especially the ones who fall out of the top 6%
  5. fyi ...
  6. Yes, my daughter is pretty upset that her mystic term will likely be cancelled. But we have not talked yet about the next few weeks and friends that won’t return to school. Heartbreaking for so many.
  7. That's the intent of the House settlement. It's unclear how it will be enforced. We know some of the mechanisms. We do not know how effective they will be. We can also surmise it will be tested by programs seeking a competitive advantage. In addition the House settlement has multiple legal challenges it will have to face. Also, there are other legal challenges to the NCAA that were not covered by the House settlement. The Texas One Fund has said they will retain independence from the athletic department, even though donations go towards Longhorn Foundation points. They have now pivoted to creating partnerships with local businesses for NIL opportunities to be given to Texas student athletes, rather than asking for charitable work. I don't have a clue how any of that works, but that's what they've said.
  8. Benching or cutting any one of those would indeed be some dumbass shit.
  9. Having literally driven that stretch of 39 last weekend to get my kids at HoH, I can’t even wrap my head around just how high that water was. My gawd.
  10. Underrated factor. My wife has a bunch of coworkers with high school aged kids in The Woodlands, etc. The ones that aren't going to UT or aggy all want to go to LSU, Bama, even Arkansas. It was eye-opening to me to learn that, but we hear it again and again. Are SEC football powerhouses offering a better education than Tech, Texas State, UTSA, etc? Of course not. The difference is big time sports and the associated campus life. My bet is that most Texas public universities are fairly concerned about their branding/perception right now.
  11. Thank you Simone.
  12. hopefully we see soem recovery / saves today πŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌ
  13. If George Carlin were alive today
  14. A friend's place on the San Saba about 5 miles east of Menard VID_20250705_110246.mp4
  15. SIAP his videos and knowledge of the area help show another pov of the scope and scale of this unfathomable tragic nature event.
  16. without seeing updated reports from other camps, 18 camps were hit and one has the huge majority of missing kids / deaths.
  17. ?? I don’t get it. Was that supposed to be funny?
  18. There is LIVE coverage on Youtube right now from KSAT12 (also another channel from WOAI) , reporting from Seguin now but also covering the hill country.
  19. Cost? Probably equivalent to feeding a couple of thousand poverty stricken children's public school lunches, but the price was worth it.
