Texas Football 2025 Fall Camp - Kicking the Sonofabitch In
Helobious replied to closetojumping's topic in Football
Alabama, probably the most consistently good CFB program of all time after Ohio State, is now done for. Got it. I had my doubts on Debauer but that recruiting ranking doesn’t lie. They’re still well above us in terms of a place top recruits want to play. -

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/46020555/college-football-vince-young-rise-texas-legend-began-ohio-state When Young spoke candidly, everyone listened and responded. The season before, in 2004, the Longhorns trailed Oklahoma State 35-14. Brown opened the locker room doors and was about to give a halftime speech. "'You ain't got to say s---, we know what the f--- we got to do," Griffin remembered Young saying as he cut off Brown. "It's hilarious now, but in the moment, you're like, 'Did he really just say that?'" In the second half, Texas outscored the Cowboys 42-0. -

I posted about this in the "concerts you are attending" thread, but if you're into Jason Molina's music, the surviving members of Magnolia Electric Company are getting together with Will Johnson of Centromatic to do a few shows playing Jason Molina/Magonlia Electric songs in Texas. They're playing at 29th Street Ballroom in September. -

It’s a lot easier to convince a kid from the most talented region of the country to come to your hick town that is a few hours away (and still surrounded by civilization) than it is to come to your hick town located a thousand miles away in fucking Nebraska. -

I'm trying to imagine the persona who signs up for this: Peaked in high school, used to be an athlete and is now bored in their day job and says "man, I just want to recapture that feeling I used to have..." Roid-raging crossfitter wants to go hit someone Napoleon-complex little man whose parents didn't want him playing football and wants to "show everyone"

What's OU's NIL story? Are they lagging way behind? Given the way TTech is leveraging O&G billionaire(s), you'd think OU could do the same. They have a strong Pet Eng program, certainly in the realm of Tech's if not better. -
Now you get it.

I think there are 5 teams in the SEC that can be regular national title contenders -- Texas, LSU, Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. I just do not see Alabama falling off unless they hire a terrible coach. They hired a very good one post Saban. OU, Tennessee, A&M, and Auburn are your second tier. Ole Miss kind of is to as long as they have Lane and are willing to push their chips in on portal every few years. -
What David French doesn’t understand yet is that the law can’t protect what people in power won’t protect. One side is doing politics. The other is doing politics by other means.

They will only guarantee his contract for one season. The total money is not the issue, the ridiculous Mike brown guarantee is.

Also, forgot to mention this but the reporters at RedRaiderInsider are saying that Micah Hudson is running 2nd team at his WR spot after a lackluster summer and camp. I laughed.

Putin will call the leaders of these countries either dictators, Nazis or corrupt. If not all 3. Which of course is a reason why Putin can't easily sit down with Zelenskyy. Putin has effectively, if not explicitly, called Zelenskyy an illegal or invalid leader of Ukraine. You can't then sit down with that same leader and declare a peace deal to be legal and binding.

He has really redeemed himself. He was basically Lattimer from the Program at OU. I love a redemption story, so I kind of like the guy now. He is also pretty good at his job in an industry where so many just mail it in. -

Daboer is a great coach. I really really like him. Remember, Nebraska didn't fall off the face of the earth immediately. They went down to 10-3 on the reg under solich and then fired him, then went down to like 8-5 under the next guy before they really bottomoed out. I see Daboer winning 10 games for them and losing in the first round of the playoffs and not being competitive for the SEC title for 3 years, the yokels getting agitated about it and him deciding to move on to somewhere he will be appreciated, before they settle into an 8-4 type existence for a long time. You are right about the talent area in their area being helpful. Just like OU. But ultimately they are behind Texas, Oregon, Ohio State, (maybe Michigan- depending upon if their sugar daddy stays interested), probably Tech, aggy, Florida, Georgia, maybe the Domers and maybe a couple others in ability to pay. Saban won a rigged game that 6 or 8 schools competed in and there is nothing fucking compelling about going to tuscalusa if the check isn't biggest and you don't have Saban running an nfl boot camp. They are basically just Auburn now with better history. -
While I generally agree with your sentiment, I do want to point out the awe-inspiring irony of your post for those of us on this site who root for Texas. It's almost better if I don't even point it out and torture it any, I think. It's fucking beautiful to admire.

Agreed on Bama. Grubbs getting back in the fold and Milroe moving on will help get that offense cooking again. Saban’s fingerprints are still all over everything so that’s not going to just disappear overnight. They may drop into the second tier of annual contenders but I can’t see them reverting back to the Mike Shula days. LSU has a ton of pressure on it this season imo. I think Nussmeier is widely overrated but after they whiffed on Underwood, what the hell is going to happen next season under center. Seems like they need a really successful year right the fuck now. -
Yes it’s not the label that’s the problem it’s society being heartless and cruel to the given out group

Joyner was going to be their most explosive player on offense. Really sucks for them. I have always pulled for Tech because I have a lot of West Texas roots. Kind of my (distant) second favorite team. I got annoyed with their fans during the Leach years always bitching about officiating despite their OL being allowed to hold our front 7 with impunity -- 2008 being the worst when that scrub who was a wannabe WWE wrestler with face paint was allowed to wrap his arms around the neck of Orakpo and Kindle all night long. And the one holding call that night was a bad call against Ulatoski when the DE basically lost his balance, and it directly led to the pick 6 by Colt to Daniel Charbonnet.

My daughter was there for the tournament. Unfortunately I had to work and couldn't make it. They were a little up and down. Only a few of them play club so they usually start show and improve over the season. Congratulations man, that's awesome!
