  1. Past hour
  2. With so much shit going sideways today, on purpose, occasionally something good does happen, like Rush going back on tour.
  3. 84*/74% is higher heat index than Houston noon today. Add that to a 140* cockpit under a firesuit. George said he lost something like 8-10 lbs of weight due to sweat. This is the same as an MMA fighter does on their last day of weight cutting, where they're literally draped under blankets and biking in sweat suits to the point near exhaustion.
  4. Yeah I was unaware of the large Eskimo first responder population in South Carolina.
  5. Now hold on there, that sounds like some states rights bullshit coming out of South Carolina, and we can’t have that - maybe President Trump needs to send some troops down there to occupy a fort and teach South Carolinians a lesson.
  6. The 08-10 comparison increases with this being Sarks philosophical change to go from physical intense practices to this in how Mack decided to change our offense
  7. Dennis Taylor

  8. I’m exhausted with comedians. I’m tired of the schtick of the brave and unfraid truth-teller, when the consequences for telling jokes that don’t land or behaving poorly is a canceled Netflix series or ostracism. Guess what, if I tell edgy jokes at work or harass people I might get fired or excluded too. I do appreciate the ability to wrap difficult truths in humor but guess what: that’s actually a defense mechanism, you can always hunker down behind β€œI was joking, I’m a comedian.” There are people who make a pittance and put their livelihoods and sometimes lives on the line to tell difficult unvarnished truths; they are called investigative journalists. Offensive/provocative and dangerous to power are two different things and the Venn overlap isn’t that big. Bill Burr, who can be funny, can get fucked. It takes zero courage to be funny and also non-misogynistic and racist. And I like that he is those things and I’m glad our society has rewarded talent that doesn’t shit on others with lucrative renumeration. But that wasn’t enough, he also needed to be remunerated by a bloody, woman-hating, racist, theocratic nightmare family and then he tells me in Variety why this is cute cultural exchange. Actual truth tellers about Saudi get cut up into little pieces. Oh, it’s actually not that bad, you say? The only rules are β€œno jokes about the royals or about religion,” and that sounds reasonable. Here, let me translate: β€œyou can joke about anything except the pillars of our rapacious and oppressive system of power.” Vladimir Putin has similar rules to appear on his TV. That’s….not really a concession.

  10. First - thanks for the advice on perhaps taking my Dad's Lakehouse as my portion of the inheritance. In the end I think if we can get close to the number we want in the Spring, that is the way to go. I can always borrow my future portion of the proceeds to create a rental property closer to home if that's what we decide. However, after spending a long weekend at the coast, moving the estate more to cash via a sale looks pretty attractive. Plus my Dad is willing to strike a deal for me to borrow from the house sale proceeds, to invest in something closer to home now. The idea of having a rental property in Austin that we designed in advance to downsize to in the future, is probably a wiser investment. We also might look at buying into a coastal rental unit, after the next big storm as an investment. after this long weekend and looking forward, the idea of a lock and leave townhome to travel a few years from now is pretty appealing. Or a coastal rental that we could vacation to in the off season is pretty appealing as well to diversify our retirement portfolio. Again thanks for all the input on my thought process. Second - Is it true that because of the budget shutdown that you cannot currently secure flood insurance for coastal property sales? I thought I heard that on the news in Corpus Christi last week. And wondered if this was true?

  12. It really is. It's usually at Top Notch every 4th Thursday.
  13. Can't believe how fundamentally broken our guard/center talent evaluation, recruiting and development has been under Sark/Flood. The truth finally came out once Major/Conner left. Campbell probably would be better if technique was better (as Paul Wadlington has been saying).
  14. I will have those ads removed. thanks for letting me know. I don't control my inventory to that granularity where I can decline the ads before they run.
  15. Its crazy to think people don't understand this its like that meme about opening the marriage and it not working for them but maybe it will for us. This all has the same endgame. Trump being elected was the true sign that we are solidly in the fourth turning and had the opportunity to change things because we knew what was happening. Kamala would have sucked relative to great presidents, but relative to what we are experiencing she may as well have been <insert your argument for best president ever> Trump is so fucking bad it is actually going to end America, that's where this ends and its so fucking obvious.

  17. The man knows his football.
  18. I've noticed varying degrees of football knowledge on this site over the years. Still, people here seem to get the basics. 90%or more of the posters on this site, if you gave them a budget to manage to attain players, would know to prioritize the offensive line. Offensive line was an afterthought for the University of Texas in real life. It is a level of recklessness and stupidity so profound, it is hard to believe it is real. Yet, here we are.

  22. The show has had the same format for 51 years. Opening monologue, mix of live and recorded sketches, weekend update, 2 musical numbers. It’s not exactly cutting edge. And to go viral, most of the time they rely on narrating the punchlines to make sure everyone gets it or nonsense humor. There’s nothing to miss. Given the combo of NBC suits, old man Lorne, and a massive cast and writers, it’s a dysfunctional mash of old corporate interests and neophyte actors struggling with creativity. Long story short, it’s not you, it’s the children who are wrong.
  23. Apparently it's bombing at the box office.
  24. Optimism? No. I use history as a guide in how I look at the world. He's another bad actor in a world that's been filled to the brim with them throughout the existence of human beings. Like every other fascist government this one will fall as well. They all do. They crash and burn. It's just how much time elapses between now and that point that determines how much destruction they get to bring into being. I don't like using the nazis as a comparison, but it's the easiest to do because it's the version of fascism people remember the most.
  25. From the practice reports I remember the O Line never got much praise. It was always "well the defense is clearly much better but that's all to be expected in camp, nothing to see here folks".
