Stevie soundchecking at Ardent Studios. I don't know when this was but it's after he sobered up. I think they recorded Family Style there, so I guess 1990 but I don't know off the top of my head if he recorded there any other time between '87 and the Family Style session.

there's a part 2 of this!

Ok, what’s that backstory on that?

honestly don't know other than "I had few things to do and much time in which to do them" yesterday and got sucked into searching Pinterest for SRV pictures

By the way is that Tobolowsky on the far right in that picture of the band? He’s a tall drink of water.

I didn't learn a lot from the new SRV biography that I didn't already know. It did include a ton of photos I hadn't seen thanks to the fact that the authors had great access to Jimmie Vaughan and others close to Stevie.

But I did get one itch scratched: I always wondered why the concert at Carnegie Hall had an audio recording but not video. And the answer is that Stevie's record label was all set to record the performance to film but decided at the last minute to save the $15,000 it would have cost to go through with recording it.

Fuck you CBS Records!

Shoulda spent some of that savings on audio recording. It doesn’t sound that great to me.

What’s the story with that guitar?

I mean other than I hope that it gave its consent.

Revisiting this thread.

That guitar is a Hamiltone made by James Hamilton that was given to Stevie by Billy Gibbons. It’s in the “Couldn’t Stand The Weather” music video with the old active pickups and amber knobs.

Two piece body and three piece neck thru design. Interesting stuff.

Maybe but wasn't Stevie's recording one of the first done after they screwed up Carnegie Hall's acoustics because of a renovation?
