  1. Cruz couldn’t draw a crowd like that unless he was hanged in public.

  3. Virtually everyone has told a lie. Virtually everyone has broken a law. That doesn't mean we're all Trump, Kavanaugh, or Dahmer. The false equivalencies from the right are bad enough by themselves, but when used to defend the broad daylight corruption of an administration that promised to drain the swamp, it's just brutal in its disconnect.

  11. Just donated my NFL early game winnings to Beto. That would make my second political donation ever.....both to Beto. Fuck ted cruz & his spineless, trump-cum guzzling pussy.

  12. Yeeeeeah that's what I'm talking about. Outside groups having to spend that money to protect a Ted Cruz because Ted can't raise money from regular people, meanwhile they cut other GOP incumbents off in swing districts. I love it.

  17. It's a real shame that this 11am spot isn't showcasing the Texas OU game. We should move it home and home. No one seems to give a shit about it any more. Oh wait...two major networks are doing pre-game shows there, one of which is the national standard for what is the hot matchup that weekend. Maybe it's more about us not sucking ass like we have the last 5 years.

  20. New (to me) Guitar Day. A family friend of my mom's (no pics of her, or my mom), is GIVING me this Strat later today. She says she doesn't play it anymore since she bought an ESP 1000, and just wants to see the Strat find a good home. Now, I already have an HSS Strat, and red is not my favorite color, but I'm not about to turn down a free Fender Strat. I'll be back at some point with details and more pics once I get the opportunity. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk

  24. It's well documented that Beto's campaign was told to expect no help from the DNC at the outset. Too much of a longshot. If I ran the campaign, and the DNC came calling now, I would tell then that I don't blame them for the decision but they need to continue to stay away. They have come a long way without them. The only helpful tool the national party machine can provide is money, which they have absolutely no problem with. A flood of DNC involvement toward the finish line would undermine the very real message that this campaign is a bottom-up, people based movement. Not to mention that the DNC plays especially poorly to Texas swing voters and would probably motivate Cruz's base more than anyone else. State level Democratic Party not coordinating is a different story, but they're just fucking incompetent.

  25. Bullshit. If it were only a question of ideology, the Republicans (you know, the party in power) could've easily dumped him a week ago. No, there's got to be a very specific reason they're putting everything on the line for him.

  28. small anecdote from last night Was at the Decemberists show at Bass and it was pretty full. Colin Meloy was like, why the hell are you guys here and not at the Beto/Willie show? [huge cheers] You probably bought these tickets before that was announced right? [audience laughter] Thanks for honoring your commitment, and they'll try to be half as good as Willie. then they sang some whiskey river. Point being, Beto is visible and relevant as shit, even to those outside of Texas. BTW, Colin Meloy is funny as shit. Good show, but bummed to have missed the Willie/Leon/Beto gig.

  33. We rode the train down from Crestview and walked over around 9 pm to catch the speech. The crowd was already on both sides of Riverside, the lawn next to the PEC was pretty much full, the median was packed with people in lawn chairs, and the lines for the food trucks were approximately 150 yards long each. The speech was fantastic and I couldn't stop thinking "man I hope this guy wins". We had to make a logistical choice and could only stay for a couple of Willie songs, since we didn't want to miss the train and didn't know how crowded it would be on the way back. That turned out to be a good choice, because the 11:29 train filled to capacity and I'm sure the 12:03 did too. Another good choice was bringing a backpack with some bottles of water and a few chocolate chip cookies so we didn't have to brave the lines . All in all, it was a fun night of adventure that gave me a little hope in a time hope is needed. Now go vote in a month people!

  34. I'm as anti kool aid as anyone but y'all trying to find something to be pissy about after a win in Manhattan, aka this program's house of horrors, and being on a four game win streak is a hoot. Sam has gotten it done the past four games. He may need to do more against better teams like OU and WVU. Historically that's been a recipe for disaster but there's obviously been growth, so we'll see if he is ready for the next step. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

  35. I don’t think Sam is QB1 material at The University of Texas when it comes to the aspirations the program has. It’s not even really a nuanced argument. He just isn’t a good enough/accurate enough passer. There are a lot of other programs where what he is capable of would be more than enough...but if we really want to go where we act like we want to go it isn’t enough here. All that said he’s not the disaster some also make him out to be and there is no doubt he has thus far cut down on the stupid stuff and we are now not losing games because of him. This I will take as progress for this year but going into next the guy under center (or well taking shotgun snaps from center) needs to be more than a guy who “won’t lose you a game” he needs to be somebody who will go win you some.

  37. And we could decide as a society to help a ton of kids out of bad situations that don’t happen to win the genetic lottery and arrive into this world with the body type to effectively help push a leather balloon up and down a 100 yard stretch of ground. I like football a lot but the helping kids out of poverty defense makes us look like an inept morally deficient society.

  39. Damn. We were right at the front near the light/camera apparatus in the middle so it was hard to truly judge the crowd. Speech was really powerful. Not necessarily anything new but delivered with passion and related everything back to everyday life here in TX. I don't know how anyone could listen to him and choose to go with Cruz, and maybe that is why the campaign is focusing on turnout of friendly demos and supporters as opposed to trying to flip whatever undecideds/waffling Republicans remain. There may be 3-4 million lock step R voters depending on turnout, but there are definitely, numerically, more that support him. It is just a matter of getting them to the polls. As great as he was I still don't think he will win but I am even more motivated to put in time to try to make it happen.
