  2. Off topic, but I'd pay to watch Trump pay with a card at a pump and then pump gas. "Credit or Debbie? Who the fuck is Debbie. Oh, debit. What the fuck does that mean? Of course credit. Always credit. Four digit what? Goddamnit. It wants a zip code? The fuck? Goddamnit, Eric! Stop smelling your fingers and get the fuck out of the way so I can put the gas gun thing in the gas hole deal. Asshole. How do we know when it's full? Shit is gonna spray everywhere. Eric, stop rubbing your knuckles on your ridiculous gum to tooth ratio and smear that blue water shit on the glass part. On the glass. Take the window stick, or whatever, dip it in the blue shit and rub the window thing. No, it's not a urinal! Fucking idiot. Is it a urinal? Stop rubbing it on the window! Fucking blue piss. Just get back in the car. Idiot. 43 bucks? Yeah, get the receipt. I'm gonna sue these pricks. Blue piss on the window. They owe me 43 bucks. Fuck you, Debbie."

  3. Are you seriously so clouded by your bloated inertia that you can't conceive of the opposing strain of thought with this? Sometimes you just have to be right, even if that means losing. Force the GOP Senate to reject their own religion of a small government restrained by checks and balances, even if it means losing. Force them to abandon Madisonian principles and reveal that they believe in nothing as much as short term and personal power. Preserve what has been a nice democracy and literally save a Republic, even if it means losing. Remain loyal to your duty and maintain the rule of law, especially when you have something small to lose: brief, personal gain. Obama once significantly dropped in popularity for joining a handful of congressmen by voting 'No' on going to Iraq. Seven years later it was his greatest badge of honor in the biggest campaign of his political career. Riding political momentum was the blemish on his opponents. There's nothing "strategic" about allowing a sitting president to go unchecked like some kind of mutated and gnarled monarchy. The country can't afford to have both isles of Congress acting like dainty little pussies.

  5. I particularly enjoyed when she told her rescuers that she was not the hero, they were the REAL heroes. Oh yeah??? No fucking shit. Here all this time I thought the vapid idiot who got lost on a hiking trail was the hero of the story! Thank you for correcting me, yoga lady. Jesus Christ.

  6. I can't speak to what everyone else has experienced. This is just my perspective after my experiences. There's something to what hayden said regarding survivors guilt. Quite a bit actually. I still experience it from time to time. And probably always will. But there is more. As mentioned, and like others, I don't like talking about my experiences at war with my family members. I am considerably more open with (some) strangers. Why? A few reasons: It's easier to be open with strangers. With people you have no personal connection with, it's, for lack of a better definition, like speaking to a wall or other inanimate object. You know, you KNOW, you won't be judged by a stranger, or even if you are, it's someone you aren't in any way attached to, and therefore that judgment holds no weight. You can say everything about what you went through, and what you felt, and have no filter in doing so. It's like pouring smoke into the wind, knowing that it's going to disperse and be of no further consequence. It's significantly less frustrating. Family members, by and large, simply don't understand, and can't understand, what we went through in war. And there's no way to adequately describe it. None. That brings on a double-edged frustration: that the family members don't understand, and that you can't describe it in a proper way. With a stranger, you don't really care if they understand or not. Some of us, or at least me, feel some unknown need to protect my family members from what I experienced. There's nothing pretty about war, especially for those that have been in direct combat (thank God Almighty I never was). Not one goddamn thing. Even the mundane office aspects of it aren't pretty. We want to protect those we love from the ugliness. And we are afraid that even talking about the goofy funny shit will lead into the ugly. Or at least I am. You won't, by and large receive pity. There's a tendency among family members to blanket us as veterans with an overdose of pity after we relay our stories, or at least I have witnessed this. Especially if we have talked about something traumatic. We, generally speaking, don't want that. Let me say it again: WE DON'T WANT PITY. Sometimes we don't even want empathy. We just want to vent, receive understanding if it's possible, and move on. But no pity. Talking to strangers, I've generally not received pity. Anyways, that's my view.

  8. Actually, this comment is a reflection of the reason Trump might get elected. Trump has committed multiple crimes. We should not allow criminals to hold elected office. The constitution allows us to remove criminals from office through impeachment. The situation is not complicated unless you are ok with having a criminal in office. Yes. This thread is laser focused about impeachment. The thread topic is impeachment. If Pence becomes POTUS, we won’t have a criminal in office anymore. Plus, Pence is not an electable candidate. He won’t win in 2020. He would likely lose in the gop primary to hopefully a republican that better reflects US morals, Romney, McCain, type of folks. If Trump is removed trough impeachment, the US and the world would be better off

  10. I cleared day 1,000 on the sober ride at midnight last night and that is a hell of a milestone for me to think about. I remember thinking 5 days was amazing and to now think it's a grand is mind boggling to me. That's a lot of damn days, but now just shuffle my way thru this one.

The neck is fantastic, though. It’s a 9.5” radius I think, which is the same as the Pros, it just has the less fancy truss rod or something. I personally like the Texas Special pups, and the greasebucket circuitry works well enough and isn’t intrusive or anything. Sorry it ain’t much info, but it’s a fine instrument. No contour, regular brass saddles (not compensated). It’s old school and it rocks. I think I have a photo somewhere. Found it.

  19. Hard to argue with this from a pragmatic and political standpoint. As a lawyer (who has had a fair amount of experience handling Constitutional matters), my perspective is very different. Based on the evidence already in the public domain, to me there is no doubt that he should be impeached and removed from office. If the end result is a 10 year term of President Pence, well then that really sucks, but to take the pragmatic route risks deconstruction of the foundations of our republic.

  23. While Portland has a higher volume, their homeless are mostly just drugged out zombies. Just sad to see when you walk around the downtown area. San Fran has the worst homeless population of anywhere I’ve ever been. Many of them are simply super mean & hyper-aggressive wastes of oxygen. I’m ready for a physical fight at all times walking around there. I fucking hate that city.

  28. You're not being fair or seeing the big picture. Eric's dad didn't have a loony doctor write up phony medical conditions five different times so his father could not travel way too far to not fight in a country nobody had even heard of just so years later we'd have to pay for some jive ass, smooth talking black dude to go on vacation. That's not what our non veterans didn't fight for. Where were all of you when he wasn't fighting by land air and sea? When you know firsthand how painful it is to play tennis with bone spurs you can talk. Until then keep quiet, because you have no idea the horrors he never saw and the assaults he never endured while others rested in the lap of luxury in that cozy, meat grinding jungle.

  30. I don't guess I really care how any future realignment shakes out as long as college football survives. I don't want to see an NFL-Light creation of a bunch of blue bloods. I like seeing a really good G5 team that can punch above it's weight class. I like going to regional rivalry games and I like playing schools where students can do road trips by auto. I don't enjoy going to NFL games and I'm afraid some of these super conference ideas would become similar.

  31. This thread is the reason Trump will be reelected - you guys are so laser focused on impeaching a president so late in their term you can't even see the fucking forest from the trees. What happens if impeachment is successful? We get fucking Pence? He's been squeeky clean through this whole thing, but he's also a massive dickhead. Get him and all his fuck sticks out of office - then pursue legal avenues to let him rot in prison after he's removed from office. Why is this so hard for people to think about pragmatically are you all seriously so clouded by your faux rage that you can't think strategically?

  34. It really is amazing. 75 years ago, normal 17,18,19 year old Americans risked everything because their country and the world needed them. Its the last great gathering of the veterans of DDay. If you have even been to Gettysburg, there are great pictures taken in 1938 of the 75th Anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg, where veterans from both sides made their way to PA to gather one last time and bury the hatchet. The interesting thing about that is... it is pretty much guaranteed that several of our DDay veterans who attend the ceremonies this week, actually met at least one gettysburg veteran in their lives. thats a 150 history spanned by just 2 lifetimes. impact full thought when you really think about it.

  36. So much this. My relative was tall for his age (16yo) so the army never questioned his age. Storming the beaches as a 17yo with men dropping left and right of you. The same guys you’ve been training with for the past year is just unreal. The day before he was shot, star and stripes took a picture of him and some other guys. after he was almost cut in half by a german machine gun (d day + 6), he was sent to fort Sam for his stateside rehab. All the hospital staffed liked him, so they found him a job on base and he worked there for 50 years.
