  1. NYTimes website. I have a sub, and they have a running narrative of the trial. They have 4 reporters in the room (Jonah Bromwich, Maggie Haberman, Kate Christobek, Michael Gold) and they each just add to the timeline. Occasionally, one of them will expound upon the reporting of another. I'm just copying/pasting; not always in chronological order. They don't update it every minute; sometimes there might be 5-10 minutes between updates. There's others who are reporting from the courtroom (or an annex) and using Twitter for their messaging. I'm not including them here. And it's a wrap for the day: We end the day without a final decision from the judge on whether Trump will be held in contempt and fined for violating his gag order. Justice Merchan could issue a written ruling at any point, or rule from the bench on Thursday or later. There is no deadline. Trump, speaking in the hallway outside the courtroom, says he thinks the gag order is unconstitutional. He’s holding a stack of printed articles that he says he’s not sure he’s allowed to share because of the gag order, which only pertains to a limited set of issues. While in the middle of talking to reporters, he says, β€œI’d love to talk to you people, I’d love to say anything that’s on my mind, but I’m restricted.”

  2. Pecker asked that the "catch-and-kill" arrangement be kept secret. Steinglass asks him to explain why. Pecker says he was helping the campaign, and didn’t want it to β€œleak” that his publication was aiding Trump. He wanted it β€œvery confidential,” he says. Steinglass, satisfied, moves on.

  3. Also, an update on the greatest recruiting class of all time with the losses of Taylor and the kicker guy: 14 of the 30 signees have now transferred after just two seasons on campus of what could be a total of five eventually. 14/30 = 47% of the class smoke bombed (Smoke Bouie'd) the fuck out of College Station. Leveon Moss and Brownlow-Dindy are both still rumored to be a part of the faithful departed, so we'll see. 6 of their top 15 players from that class are still on the roster: Weigman, Brownlow-Dindy, Shamar Stewart, Enai White, Scylla, and Bryce Anderson. Of those players, Weigman isn't healthy, White hasn't played due to injury in years, Brownlow-Dindy missed the spring due to "injury" and the other 3 are either starters or serious contributors. Beyond all of that, I am sure with a little thought, I could come up with someone at Texas that busted as hard as Bobby Taylor, but I don't have time for that. This idiot ran his fucking mouth the entire 2022 recruitment cycle, talked monstrous shit about Texas in the process, and touted himself as a future super star. After doing such, he never touched the field, tested the transfer portal twice and gathered no interest, and now will never be playing football again, with his last meaningful snap coming in his senior year in HS. Another fitting end.

  4. I’ll say this in regards to Brooks father and Coach Joseph. The issue that came up during Brooks freshman year was tied directly to how Joseph runs his room (rotations+playing time and how it’s communicated to the players) Some other coaches got involved because they related better to the family and solved the issues before the bowl game. In film breakdown towards the end of 2022 the coaches were grading out Brooks higher than other corners but the playing time wasn’t always reflecting that. When Jamison got back fully healthy, Jamison and his family expected him to return to the starting spot but Brooks family expected Brooks to continue to start because he had been playing well and grading out higher than Jamison. During Bowl practices the issue came to a head because Joseph was sending two different messages to each family and didn’t take the issue head on to be clear about the plan for bowl game rotations and who would start. Manny Muhammad’s family didn’t really vibe with Joseph either early during that recruitment. They felt like they talked to everybody except Joseph. Sark had to really get on him to get more involved because the family liked Texas and loved Jeff Banks but wasn’t sold on how much Joseph wanted Manny.

  6. You can see Steinglass, the prosecutor, gently leading the jury step-by-step into the bizarre world of Trump’s relationship with Pecker’s supermarket tabloid empire. This line of questioning will soon get to the heart of the issue: the β€œcatch-and-kill” operations that Pecker launched to aid Trump’s political ambitions. Pecker says that Trump was β€œviewed as the boss.” Prosecutors are using him to establish two things: that Trump was a β€œmicro-manager,” particuarly with money, and that he often delegated point people for others to deal with. Pecker says that his was Michael Cohen.

  7. Fascinating. So you're one of those guys on the freeway. Every time I get on an open highway it's obvious most people aren't aware cruise control even exists, especially younger drivers. It's infuriating dealing with all the chucklefucks who will drive a couple of miles per hour slower than you would like to, but only speed up after you pass them and then slow right back down after they get in front of you again. I gues they can't handle being behind someone. Anyone who pulls that shit should lose their highway driving privileges. Pick a fucking speed and stick with it.

  8. Lol at people here bemoaning the loss of Brooks. If he'd stayed, we'd have been bitching about him all season. Hell, the motherfucker got torched much of last season and was routinely bailed out by WRs not catching passes that hit their wide open hands. I'm not going to sit here and exonerate Joseph or even Gideon. They're obvious weak links on the defensive staff. Joseph isn't going to develop shit, particularly at CB over Safety. Fine. Brooks has been on campus 3 years, and he's plateaued or regressed. I have little faith that he would have turned it around with another year of coaching from Joseph. I'll roll the dice that Mack or Black are the next Manny Muhammed, dogs that come in and are self-disciplined and will get better on their own with more reps. We know what Brooks is, at this point, under Joseph.

  10. Pecker is asked if Bill and Hillary Clinton’s names came up in the meeting. Pecker says that when you run a magazine, you have to choose the topic of the week. Coverage of Hillary Clinton running for president that described Bill Clinton as β€œa womanizer” was a big seller, he says. β€œI was running the Hillary Clinton stories, I was running Hillary as an enabler for Bill Clinton, with respect to all the womanizing.” As expected, Pecker is describing himself as the agent of β€œcatch-and-kill” schemes in which he or others would help Cohen suppress negative information about Trump, specifically negative information pertaining to β€œwomen selling stories.” Pecker is, in essence, confessing to promoting β€œfake news” on behalf of Donald Trump. Pecker says he had expected β€œthere would be a lot of women who would come out to try to sell their stories” about Trump, because he was known as β€œthe most eligible bachelor and dated the most beautiful women.” (Trump married his current wife, Melania, in 2005.) The jurors are being shown their first exhibit, an email sent to Pecker inviting him to Trump's campaign announcement at Trump Tower. They are paying close attention. Steinglass is now drilling down on the key meeting in what prosecutors say was a conspiracy β€” an August 2015 gathering between Trump, Cohen and Pecker. β€œI received a call from Michael Cohen telling me that the boss wanted to see me,” Pecker says. Pecker says he didn’t know the purpose of the meeting before he arrived. When he got there, he says, Cohen and Trump asked him what he and his magazines could do β€œto help the campaign,” a quote that will be key to prosecutors' argument that the hush money payments were made to help Trump win the election.

  13. To be fair, the justice system was never designed to or for protection of the Republic. It should work slow as state removal of liberty is big AF. The people through their congressional representatives were given the ability to impeach, remove, and restrict from office those who would imperil our system of government. There's no such thing as 'beyond a reasonable doubt' in politics. However, half the people are broken in their brains. Partisan interests have trumped loyalty to the constitution due to monied gentry, religious zealots, and legally anthropomorphic corporations using their $ and power to pervert the very system of government meant to represent the people. Instead it represents entrenched wealth and ideologues who themselves prop up power hungry sociopaths who use politics as a personal means to enrich themselves. And therefore the only real lever designed to protect us has been perverted to the point where we have to rely of the justice system as a last resort.

  16. Pecker is now being asked about being introduced to Steve Bannon, Trump's top strategist, in October 2016. He recalls Trump saying, β€œI believe you and Steve would get along really well.” Pecker is being asked about an infamous Enquirer story linking Ted Cruz’s father to the John F. Kennedy assassination. He says it originated with Dylan Howard, The Enquirer's editor. Pecker said that after the Republican debates, Cohen would call him and direct him to focus the negative coverage on whichever candidate had been most successful onstage. It should be pointed out that Pecker’s testimony isn’t just damaging to Trump. He is, in effect, laying waste to his own professional career by going through headline after headline and suggesting he attacked Trump’s rivals to aid Trump.

  17. Eh, we all know what each of us is doing. I guess the only real mystery is if we are doing it in our underwear or not. I actually have to leave the office for an hour or so around 9:15, and I'm not sure my AI bot is capable of scraping this off of the NYTimes and re-posting here for the viewing pleasure of everyone, but I'll see what I can do. And with that: Conroy says that Trump β€œviolates the order when he posts about known witnesses or reasonably forseeable witnesses,” and β€œviolates the order when he posts about a juror or prospective juror.” And finally, Conroy says Trump violated the gag order when on Truth Social, he quoted the Fox News commentator Jesse Watters denigrating prospective jurors as "undercover liberal activists.” Prosecutors have flagged this as the most serious of the violations and Conroy does so again, calling it β€œvery troubling.” Conroy points to the timing of the post, last Wednesday evening. The next morning, Juror #2 came into court and asked to be excused. This upset Justice Merchan. He complimented the juror after excusing her, saying she would have done a good job.

  18. Sad for who? I find it hilarious. I don’t know the guy or his family. Why do I need to feel sad? Plenty of people every day walk away from what their parents want and move to their own beat. He chose not to and now he has neither the adoration of a fanbase that his parents crave nor the accolades to merit much interest from anyone athletically. I’d like to see many aggie athletes finish up that way.

  19. CNN β€” Joe Biden will land a major union endorsement Wednesday from North America’s Building Trades Unions, whose leaders say the president has his infrastructure bill largely to thank for it. In making one of their earliest ever presidential endorsements, NABTU leaders are kickstarting an eight-figure organizing program to try to deliver their 250,000 members in the battlegrounds of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin for Biden.

  23. Note: I gotta say; all this shit about Trump being frugal is just fucking hilarious. .. Steinglass asks Pecker about Hope Hicks, another intermediary for Trump. He is slowly weaving Pecker into Trump’s world, through his connections with people who will come up again at this trial. Because he is the first witness, this serves as an introduction to the fuller cast of characters, whose names the jury may already be familiar with. Trump has been watching Pecker’s testimony but appears to perk up when certain people are mentioned, like Hicks, his former spokeswoman, or Ivanka Trump, his older daughter. Overall, Pecker’s affect as a witness is calm, understated, almost grandfatherly. If he holds up this way under cross-examination, that could help him bolster his credibility with the jury. Pecker is now describing what he calls his first meeting with Michael Cohen, in 2007. He says Trump introduced them at his office, and that he was told to route all communications to Trump through Cohen. β€œHe was very cautious and very frugal,” Pecker says of Trump’s approach to money. Any testimony from Pecker that establishes Trump’s track record of keeping a close eye on his own finances β€” β€œalmost a micromanager,” in Pecker’s words β€” will help the prosecution prove its core accusation: that the former president falsified records to cover up a sex scandal.

  27. Pecker is now being asked about being introduced to Steve Bannon, Trump's top strategist, in October 2016. He recalls Trump saying, β€œI believe you and Steve would get along really well.” It’s worth recalling that this happened around the same time as the Wikileaks email dump, after a hack of Clinton’s top adviser John Podesta’s account, and the Trump team used that material frequently. We are taking a short break. From our perspective, it seemed as if the jurors needed it. A few looked like they were flagging. We have no lunch break today β€” usually it’d be about a half hour away β€” and this is a lot of information to absorb. Jurors often feel a special responsibility to understand what they’re being told, given their role. It can be very tiring, regardless of the subject matter.
