Question and I will preface it by saying I am in no way a supposed quarterback whisperer or a guy on the internet who spends time in my basement breaking down video of quarterbacks.

If your quarterback is struggling to do the things in your offense for you offense to be productive and the same quarterback has shown some abilities that aren't being used and could help you move the ball why wouldn't you add some of what said quarterback is successful at and move a bit away from forcing the areas in which they struggle?

I could think of 15 starters who played shittier than our qb today.

Hes not dogging Arch, hes asking why we didn’t run him more, especially early.

to which I reply “Steve Sarkisian”

Did  I say Arch is or has played poorly?

What I asked is why is Sark asking Arch to do things over and over that haven't been working and might not be a strength right now and instead ask Arch to do the things he has been successful.

If it sounds like I am trashing Arch I feel for you

I will make it simple, why the fuck won't Sark call running plays for Arch and move him a bit in the pocket instead of doing the straight drop backs?

Punting down 15 with 5 minutes left.   Classic Sark

I’m ok with that call. It was 4th and 16 from the 20 wasn’t it? You have to play defense because that’s pretty much a guaranteed 3 points and ball game.

what I'm really tired of is feeling like our coach lacks the nads and viciousness other coaches do. somehow we always seem to hire that guy

This is our culture lol.   It least that's what the results show.

Sark said he wanted this team to be more physical right before the season started. That would be nice against competent teams, and it hasn't happened. Ohio State and Florida just came out and punched Texas right in the mouth and Texas never recovered in either game. Ohio State did it against Texas in the Cotton Bowl game and Sark saw that and the result. So far nothing has changed in regard to being physical and until that happens Texas will continue to lose to the good teams.

Classic coachspeak "we want to be more physical."  Who the fuck doesn't?

But actions speak louder than words and when the man at the top is a wine and cheese pussy it will never happen.  I am a Lions fan and Dan Campbell said that too, and then made it happen because he is bad mother fucker

he says it, but nothing about him exudes that. compare with another person thought of as an offensive genius, who really shows it in Shanahan.

I'm worried this year is going to have a snowball effect because if you're Dia Bell, why is this a good option for you in 2026? We've fallen off a cliff compared to last year and it feels like Sark does not have a clue on how to fix it. We have absolutely none of the creativity of past seasons. Sark's ability to develop QBs is in serious question.

Agree with this, though elite players continue to think the other player is the problem, not the offensive guru. I think having QB #1 recruit drafted in the late, late rounds, and failing to develop one of the most famous QBs as the consecutive coach/playercaller would begin to stick, but who knows.

Dia Bell is Mr Glass. So I'm less worried about him than can we figure out how to take and develop good O linemen.  It's not a mystery that while yes they had great skill players the BEST Texas teams (save 2009) of this century generally had very good to sometimes great O linemen.

Watching a banged up SF play and beat the Rams with Mac fucking Jones (a major reason Sark was hired as we know and touted a QB whisperer—course this was as an OC sitting in the mother fucking booth—and coordinating for Nick fucking Saban before NIL) I was feeling some major envy. About Shanahan. Dude even WR’d here. He’s a Horn. He has proven he can make Brock Purdy, Jimmy Grabaho and Mac Jones look amazing. I wish fixing our issues could  be as simple as just convincing Sark to get in the booth. But it’s not.

Maybe 🤔 those of you who have played at the QB position can say: but is it helpful to have the person calling plays on the sidelines (1) not take into account what you do well (2) not see what the defense is doing because he is on the sidelines (3) absolutely will not take what an opponent’s defense gives you (4) has NOT addressed glaring problems with the O-line.

I am genuinely asking. If a HC is doing 1-4 above how well could you play as a QB? Wouldn’t you get injured a bunch? Wouldn’t you start rushing thru your progressions or holding onto the ball? Wouldn’t your fundamentals start to suffer bc you can’t even trust the play calls? Or your oline? Doesn’t Sark being Sark make it almost fucking impossible to be his QB? When he’s not solely responsible for being an OC calling plays up in the booth? How well did his other QB’s at Washington and USC pan out?

I wish we could solve this. But the writing on the wall that this would happen has been tattooed in many ways in the past 5 years: poor development of Ewers and Arch. Coming out flat after a bye many times. Oline issues. Play calls that a 5 year old could predict. QBs getting injured unnecessarily. Penalties for days. Shit red zone presence particularly the last 3 years and honestly if it were for the athletes and a bias to Texas we don’t make the playoffs. Does anyone remember rooting for Rock Chalk a few years back to decide our fate. Or leaving it up to committee. Cuz I fucking do. Damn.

$15 million team. Ohio state spent $20 million and won. Miami seems to be on that trajectory. We have the money to buy anyone we want. What would sark look like if we didn’t? Penn State and Franklin with it have a ceiling. Sark’s floor is about to hit his ceiling as it has done every stop he’s had as a HC.

Shanahan has an OC. So do McVay, Ben Johnson, Andy Reid. you can make arguments in each case how much each OC does, but it is telling that each understand the need to be the HC, and not get stuck on the pride of being a brilliant play caller and somehow know how to embed their DNA into the team so much that they can have it called by someone else, or even just have someone to converse with during the game and pay attention, not stuck in the minutiae of relaying the next play

“Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown,” as a pretty decent writer once wrote.

You get paid more than any other coach in college football, you have earned the pressure, you either perform or get the fuck out.

Well, until this season, most of the bitching about Sark has been akin to complaining about not being hanged with a new rope.

Now, he's actually got some tangible adversity to face down.  Let's see how he responds.

We all hope he can be flexible and bend to common sense. And not try to be like Jerruh Jones the GM. Cuz the difference is Jerry is the owner and will never fire himself for 30 years of being a shitty GM. The BMDs gonna get restless really soon with all this money being spent and we all know how well that goes when they get restless.

sark can still control his destiny here if he can accept he cannot be both HC and OC. He has been quoted as saying he will never give up play calling cuz it’s his super power. Well something has to give. And if his superpower is being an OC there ain’t no shame in doing only that. But it doesn’t leave us anywhere either.

Phil Knight has a stronger arm when it comes to throwing money.

At this point, Sark has malignant narcissism if he thinks play-calling is his "super power". This offense sucks.

Just look at the rushing yards and passing that went as scripted.

he does still call almost all the plays, but has come out and said he allows Kubiak  to do so as well.
