Sark and the offensive staff are not putting players in a position to succeed. He brags about consistency on the staff, but the defense has had a lot of turnover and evolved. I think this is the year Sark needs to swallow a shit sandwich and bring on some new coaches and ideas for the offense

Sark needs to reinvent himself as the CEO coach, but the problem is that he doesn't trust anyone else with game-planning and play-calling. He genuinely believes that's his superpower. Unless given an ultimatum by CDC and BMDs, things probably won't change, and we'll keep getting worse.

I never imagined we could be this bad on offense, but here we are. Furk

Recruiting, culture, and "vision"?

Yeah, I know, that's unintentionally hilarious, but we can't go through another season like this one.

Here's what I keep coming back to- EVERYTHING in this program is built upon the idea that Sark is an elite offensive coach, playcaller, and QB coach.

The wheels have completely fallen off of his offense.

His star QB is a deer in headlights.

His game plans are confounding.

His clock management is consistently poor.

His offensive stats against ranked teams are objectively bad.

All of this with a top 3 NIL payroll and consistently high recruiting classes. Meanwhile, PK is putting out an elite product on defense and his side of the ball is clearly the thing thats keeping our heads barely above water. The stark difference is a very tough look for Sark. It feels like we are starting to enter the territory where we are forced to ask the question- What is the overall value that Sark brings to the program?

This is one of the best posts I have read about the Sark deal. And your follow up post about if he has to hire an OC then why do we need him as HC. Florida just fired Napier. Lord that carousel is crazy.

Being this bad on offense is truly amazing. Every rule in the game benefits the offense. You have top NIL money and the portal at your disposal and you trot out absolute dog shit.

I am ready for PK to take over this program once Sark is canned and go on a Saban-like run. He has been a great defensive coordinator for a long time (except for the early couple of years at Texas when the program was in disarray). Defense wins championships. I think it's a better recipe for success to have a defensive minded old school head coach and a young, innovative  OC.

But, hasn't PK been offered decent head jobs before and turned them down?

I don't disagree with your recommended recipe for success, but maybe PK just wants to stay in his lane?

Perhaps he hasn't been offered the right job. I admire him for not leaving for any head coaching job for more money or to stroke his ego. At Texas, he will have everything he needs to be a successful head coach.

Money talks but pretty well known he doesn’t want to be hc.   He seems super organized and buttoned up

People laugh but I felt like and still a small part of me does feel that maybe put sark up in the booth to call plays and let PK handle the defense and certain on the field things like clock management and so on. It could work as a stop gap but again something is rotten in Sarkmart right now and PK is handling his business like a professional badass.

Sark is, hang with me here, shitty at his job and I'm sure CDC is privvy to this as well. He's giving him some rope, but if this happens next season, I have zero doubts that Sark will be handed his pink slip. CDC only hires winners, and if you go from the semis to winning in OT against Kansas, er I mean Kentucky, the next year with a QB who has been groomed (no Sandusky) for 3 years and he looks like Asswater delivered in a queef box, it's not an anomaly, it's a pattern (see: Ewers, Quinn). Now, keep in mind, Sarkisian has been here since 2021 (we had ZERO picks in 2022) and we're in 2025, and he has TWO of his only recruited players drafted in the first two rds, and only TWO drafted late, with a grand total of 4 recruited players drafted in 4 season (season 5 currently ongoing)

Every player that was a major contributor that has been drafted in the first two rds recruited under Sark :

1. Kelvin Banks

2. Xavier Worthy

The rest were portal players already proven outside of 2 - K. Robinson and R. Watts

1. Mukuba ( rd. 2 one season, already proven)

2. Mitchell (rd 2 one season, already proven)

3. Golden (rd 1 one season, already proven)

4. Keilan Robinson (rd 5 three seasons, special teams)

5. Ryan Watts (rd 6 two seasons)

Everyone else were Herman recruits

Herman:

1. Bijan

2. Brooks

3. Byron Murphy

4. T'Vondre Sweat

5. Alfred Collins

6. Vernon Broughton (high 3rd rd, 7th pick)

Just players Herman recruited that were drafted under Sark who were already proven, but I haven't mentioned yet

1. Roschon Johnson

2. DeMarvion Overshown

3. Keondre Coburn

4. Morjo Ojomo

Sark:

1. Banks

2. Worthy

Now if we just go to drafted the last two seasons almost all, again, were Herman recruits:

Byron Murphy

T'Vondre Sweat

J'Tavion Sanders

Jonathan Brooks

Gunnar Helm

Christian Jones

Jordan Whittington

Jaylon Ford

Jahdae Barron

Alfred Collins

Vernon Broughton

Barryn Sorrell

Haydon Connor

Sarkisian:

Cam Williams

Jaydon Blue

As we can see, damn near all of Sarkisian's success was from Herman's recruits, not his own. Yes, identifying players in the portal is a skill, but HS recruiting is what makes your team go.

His getting elite high school guys drafted highly is, frankly, beyond poor.

Let me know if I missed any.

Im really curious where the NIL guys are falling on all of this. It really felt like this year was the start of a really fun run. I'm guessing they arent the type to panic but there's gotta be a little voice starting to pop in their heads.

Last thing I want is PK distracted from the only think working great while the one thing is shit remains under the same guidance. I get where you're mind is at, but I see that as lose/lose.

173 yards. I think Kentucky gives up that much rushing each game.

And we abandoned the run last night, afuckinggain.

Arch comes in last year to run ZR. it works. We run ZR twice against the paperclips for like 7 and 30 yards. We ran it 0 times yesterday.

He makes obtuse decisions from offensive strategy and personnel to the gameplan to any in game adjustments. He regressed since he got here. The defense is consistently better than the sum of its parts and the offense isn't.

If we only had a bazzillon examples of coaches not letting go of certain responsibilities and their team suffering due to it.

Yikes. That's concerning, but hopefully after seeing what he (didn't) accomplish at Pedo made him re-evaluate his decision making.

I wouldnt worry too much about it, CDC wouldnt be making the call. The money would figure out who they want and CDC would just do the formalities.

It's a fair and reasonable question. To my way of thinking there is a lot of shit a college HC has to due these days that are much more brand, PR, high level NiL glad handing, high level recruiting engagement, fan engagement, etc etc. Most of it has nearly nothing to do with football. One cool logically argue a lot of this should be handled by the GM and absolutely some should but not most. A good college program has a coach who is a CEO sort of guy these days. Good broad stroke and direction ideas. Good with big money folks. Good speach/team motivator. Good at engaging refs or voters as needed for CFP votes or calls in game. Good at PR for enforcing, enhancing and growing brand awareness. Good at getting fans in seats and watching TV sets. They, of course do this in tandem with the Athletics Director who is the CEO of the entire Corp with football being the big money division.

Then they bring in, particularly if money allows and it does at Texas, the most inventive OCs, DCs, and various position folks. Bring the best recruiters and talent evaluating folks they can find in various regions, at various player positions and various states.

That is a LOT. All of that is a big reason Saban left. It's not coaching football, it picking good delegates and being a politician.

And... you know what, I think Steve Sarkisian would be absolutely excellent at all of those tasks.

So... that's my answer. Sark needs to quit coaching at Texas and become the politician, glad handing, money raising, Ref and voter influencing HC Texas needs and deserves. Sark need to do honest searches for the best person at every position under him. He needs to hold them accountable, hold himself accountable and fire anyone that isn't producing at top level, quickly.

That, it what Steve should do. That's what all great college head coaches should do, imo.

Those that don't will, in the near future, become dinosaurs. Those that do will win championships.

We are, from just looking at data and stats, disorganized. Sarkisian has no idea how to call plays, use the RBs, WRs to get separation, and when he does use the TE he abandons it immediately after a successful play. He is way in over his head. Obviously in hindsight we fucked up massively giving him an extension.

Dude can recruit, but has absolutely no idea how to use said recruits. I really thought we might see Terry for a few snaps, but nope, he wants to continue to beat the shit out of Wisner with little help.

He refuses to simplify the playbook for younger players to get time, like Lockett and Ffrech, or McCutcheon in the RZ. Or use Terry/Townsend to either pound their front DL, or use a screen. The guy is fucking lost.

I would really encourage this board to not go down the Sark replacement path because it won’t happen for another 2+ years, unless some sort of “for cause” issue were to happen.

The organization is still behind him and will give him the time to fix the issues. They just gave him an extension.

Just hope he’s one of those rare individuals that can recognize their own limitations and make the decisions necessary to fix the problems.

I hate to bring up Mack Brown.   This is what he did during his peak years in Austin.   Like Saban , he had coaches leave and take HC  or top coordinator jobs themselves because they proved their worth at UT.  Trouble is unlike Saban, he got lazy and didn’t replace them with up and comers who were looking at building their resumes the same so they could get their own coaching gigs along with getting complacent with recruiting.

Agree. I haven’t seen any indication PK wants to be a HC. From what I understand he doesn’t even run the entire defense, just the fronts.

On Sark, when was the last coach that won a national championship that was calling the plays on offense or defense?  I don’t think Kirby does at UGA. Maybe Jimbo at FSU in 2013?

If you’re a young receiver why tf would you come here? Easiest position to see the field but our coach system is so bogged down they can’t easily slide in. That’s the biggest indicator to me that Sarks shit is wack. Couple in with what Golden said about how much time and effort he had to put in To learn it.
