Her seamless movement through the hospital laying waste and capping motherfuckers without breaking stride like a fucking ninja.
I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

100% and then that scene in the apartment with Cassian was even better in that light. She is extremely competent, but basically killing her father figure and exhaustion caught up with her and she is almost manic. She’s finally broken and lost control but is still able to get them there and communicate what she needs to. Just an impressive operator and great performance. She does all of the things.

And yet, he can't get funding for his next project with Oscar Isaac in the lead role.

i bet the returns from Andor S2 change that

btw, watched the first 20 minutes of Rogue One immediately after. Andor s2e12 really places the ball well for Rogue One's game winning field goal, I'll say. There's a little delay before you see that because you have to meet Jyn's childhood friend Saw first, but... that first scene with Cass is much more meaningful now.

Which is interesting because one of the big things about how different Rogue One was that the Rebellion was willing to get their hands dirty. Andor gets a kill order for Galen Erso from Draven. It wasn't oh just rescue him like you'd expect from the OT rebels. It was more Han blowing away Greedo.

And what sucks about some of this is Gilroy is being celebrated for his brilliance and how he rewrote Star Wars. And yet, he can't get funding for his next project with Oscar Isaac in the lead role.

When Andor was announced, I thought, who gives a shit? I thought Diego Luna was overrated.  I thought this was a mistake at best and Cassian was the secondary character in that film.  I was wrong.

So I looked this up, who gives a shit about a cellist?  I think Oscar Isaac is a little overrated.  This is a mistake at best....

(I should be a Hollywood executive!)

This may be a massive overreaction and recency bias, but is Kleya the consistently best Star Wars character outside of Han and Vader (ignoring the Anakin part)? Has to be top 5, right?

I'm not even sure she's the best character in Andor.

Which is not to slight Kleya so much as to highlight how fucking well written, directed, and acted the whole thing was.

Saaaame. I was gonna watch it anyway because I'll watch nearly anything Star Wars.

Are they really useless? Or are they just biding time and looking for any excuse not to act because they know they are still too weak at this point to put up much of a fight.   This would be like Chamberlain hearing about the Nazi Nuke program while reading a report about the readiness of the UK forces.

Yeah, I thought it was really well done and felt "real." They'd have to be terrified of ISB traps at that point and people in that position would HAVE to wonder about the authenticity of the information. They still made the right call in the end without really wasting much time.

Weirdly, I’ve seen some that have watched R1 post Andor and the two projects not fully clicking with them. I guess it can be difficult for some after watching Andor be the main guy for 2 seasons and then in his final chapter in R1 he’s taking a step back.

A single "May the Force be With You" works so much better because of that.

I actually wished they didn't add that line. I know they need it for continuity with R1 and subsequent chapters, but it felt forced.

Eh is came from Bail, the character in this story most connected to the notion of that statement given his history with Obi Wan and the fact that he is raising the daughter of a fallen Jedi.  It was fine given all that background.

He had a robot friend to play with.

The force line didn't bother me. It's in keeping with the OT. General Dodonna says it to the pilots before the Battle of Yavin. I feel like it was something said to people who remembered the time when the Jedi were the keepers of the peace. If anything, George polluted that with the prequels. Even Tarken tells Vader you are all that is left of that religion.

Dedra's ending reminded me of the Colonel from Boogie Nights. Shut up, Dedra!

Her facial expressions this whole scene were amazing

And her absolute disgust when Heert approached her for advice/help.

And yet she still helped him out.  It was so fitting for her character, in that even as she was realizing the system had no more use for her and would destroy her, she couldn't help but still want it to prevail.

I didn't immediately rewatch any of these scenes, except for Krennic v Partagaz, and it was entirely to watch Anton Lesser's performance.

Now here's a guy (/Collinsworth) in Partagaz who keeps the Empire going. He's efficient, no-nonsense, competent, and deals with a room full of backstabbing ambitious sycophants amazingly without ever raising his voice.

And here he is, raising his voice just once before bringing himself back under control. Finally panicking because he knows he's done for, if not the entire ISB.

Dedra got done sooooo fucking dirty.

Krennick pushing her down with his finger was a got damn moment. Up until that point and later in R1 (until the end), he was directing the violence, not doing it himself.

We didn't see her laying the charges. I like how it went from Luthen pressing the trigger button Naboo (?), and her pressing the trigger to blow up the shuttles.

Yup. The joy in his v-v-v-voice was real.

I think they were spooked for good reason.

So the two senators had an interaction with a spy/assassin with one being the target.

Mon was under constant surveillance and having multiple spies as drivers/security for her.

Draven was still in the process of turning the militia into an army, but he no doubt heard about the imperial spies caught and killed (Will was there)

So the members of the leadership group all had recent interactions and stories of espionage, while knowing that their espionage wing under Luthen collapsed, with some of the remnant members being undisciplined and still operating like freelance agents.   A lot of time had passed since the heist, as they are procuring ships and x-wings they probably overlooked the importance of those initial funds.   But I think Cassian taking the cue from Draven to not attack the other member who questioned him/Luthan also signified a change in their relationship and trust.   I think Draven likely vouched for him, Mon, did so as well, and Organa was reminded what Cassian did and the costs he paid.  I think that is why Bail told him.

I also like how the force sensitive healer stared Cassian down with a disturbed look.  I think she sensed his fate in that moment.

Cassian and Jyn Erso should have heisted an Imperial shuttle craft when they got out of the tower and booked it instead of holding each other on the beach (even more so now that we know Cassian just orphaned his kid and Bix is going to have to work at space hooters).

I really liked (?) Supervisor Lagret's subtle gesture to the guards not to go in after Partegaz shot himself.

oh yeah, there was some interview with Gilroy yesterday where he pointed out how great Michael Jenn's acting was in that scene

Dedra, Partagaz and the Grand Inquisitor from the Obi Wan series belong in this list. Partagaz ending his own life after realizing he failed to contain the Rebellion was incredibly acted.

Was really hoping to see Kino Loy again as Dedra's shift supervisor 🤣

Would have been nice to see but Gilroy said Loy’s end of season 1 moment was too perfect to bring him back
