I understand that the LDS Church is trying to whitewash it's image in order to grow it's membership and make more money at the end of the day.

I just don't think that level of calculation applies to the average person.  I tend to be a little pollyannic and give individuals too much credit.

Yeah, I think we all agree this isn't the place for a theological and church history debate, so I'll leave that alone.

Just a couple of quick points: "By their fruits ye shall know them." If our church/faith is producing good fruits and blessing the lives of others that should be one of the most important measuring sticks.

If you think what the LDS church is doing is to make more money, then you don't get this church. Just because we are good stewards with our financial resources, doesn't make us money-driven. No church leaders or members are getting rich off of the church. Because there are so many churches and pastors out there there that are like that tho, then some view all churches skeptically and I understand that, but we are nothing like this guy:

It's not personal, I just think most well-organized denominations are more concerned about money than anything else.  It's not a particular aspersion towards Mormons (well, besides wanting to whitewash the history of racism).

I can't think of a single corner of Christianity that isn't guilty of some absolutely heinous shit at an organized entity level.  Maybe the Episcopals and Methodists come out unscathed, but that would be about it (I'm Catholic FWIW and lord knows there's enough evil perpetrated by that organization).

Lutherans can't get organized enough to be corrupt.  We're too poor.

I've met Missouri Synod Lutherans.  Y'all got your crazies too.
