James Street and Bobby Layne just scare you to death

They scared defenses at that time to death, which is the point.
Babe Ruth wouldn’t lead the modern MLB in home runs either.

Ehlinger's JR year was better than anything Ewers has ever done here.

It's wild there are some people that think Ehlinger was bad and Ewers is good.

They think the defense and skill players magically became better once Quinn blessed them.

Alright, I cooled down. I was spitting facts, but I’m willing to accept reality. We have what we have and nothing will change. I’ll be praying for some strategic losses in the playoff. I don’t think we’re beating an Oregon or a Georgia. Or any team who can run down a screen pass consistently. Even a team like Clemson could probably get after us with their front.

What exactly does it matter where he ranks in the all time list anyway? Even if you want to caveat it and talk about the modern era, Quinn is third at best and he's not even in the same neighborhood as Colt. He's good. He just hasn't been good enough. Ehlinger was good. Simms was good. James Brown was good. Major was good. But none of them were good enough. Same as Quinn.

I don't know where "modern era" starts, but James Brown could play.  Even Shane B could make you do a double take.  Surrounding casts probably hurt those guys more than a bit.

Brown had a memorable moment where he lifted up his team to do something that Quinn Ewers could never do.

I think Ehlinger was bad. That obviously being a relative term as none of these guys are truly bad (that’s reserved for someone like squints).
I think Ehlinger was certainly more productive than Quinn and would have done way more than Quinn with this level of talent around him.

OFEI Ehlinger's JR year: #9

OFEI in 2 years under Ewers: #18 and #19.

We would kill for that JR year Ehlinger. He was pretty damn good his SR year too. I just find the entire Ewers and Ehlinger discussion to be wild. They have a very distorted opinion of both QBs. I certainly wouldn't rank Ewers ahead of Ehlinger although he will accomplish more as a team just because his team is 10X more talented.

I'll take Sam any day of the week over dork ass Quinn. He was last on the depth chart at Ohio State for a reason. Sam played for a terrible coach and not near the offensive talent Quinn has, yet he led his team to a Big 12 title birth and beat down Georgia. He had balls, would run through a wall for his team and scrappy as fuck. Sam and Tebow were one in the same, except Tebow played for a great coach and one of the more stacked teams we have seen in college. You had to account for Sam running.

Sam wins today's game and it isn't even close.

Quinn is so fucking soft when it matters most.

Did Quinn upset the #3 team (as a 21-point underdog) in the country to win that title, or did he beat a team that was so good that essentialy the same team didn't win a conference game this season?

Yea, why couldn’t James make his teammates better?

Jennings just lead SMU back to potentially tie the game. They were down 24-7 and 31-14 in the 2nd half. When was the last time Ewers beat a ranked team after trailing by 17 points in the 2nd half of a game?

I thought he had a strong arm, but then he floats passes that need a little zip and chronically under throws deep balls.

His habitual mechanics suck. When he throws with good form, he can put zip on it. When he's flustered, he discombobulates and it all goes to chit. If he's playing hurt, that can also cause poor mechanics and less than perfect throws as well.

Because they didn’t play the game that way.
Sir Roger wasn’t even good. Hell everyone runs a 4 minute mile these days.

Quinn isn't a pussy, he's just fucking limited because he's fragile as fuck. He trotted out there injured (shocker, I know) and either a) ddi what he was told, or)B made his own decisions and it fucked us.

We'll never know because Sark doesn't throw players under the bus (which I'm personally happy about)

Quinn definitely isn't a pussy. He's playing at like 75% right now like the broadcasters said before the game.

But, if you can't ever stay healthy that's a clear limitation.

Watching this SMU/Clemson game, if we had either Jennings or Klubnik, we win today easy. We currently have a QB where any type of rush, causes him to turtle up and get sacked.

No idea how people keep wanting to die on the Quinn Ewers hill and bury their head in the sand that he is absolutely holding back this offense. Both of those QBs aren't playing with the offensive talent Quinn has.

They sure as FUCK aren't playing with the same quality of defense.

It is what it is at this point. I assume every playoff team will have enough athletes to run down a tunnel screen. Hard seeing us go 4-0 in our current state. You never know though, college football can be crazy. Our defense gives us a shot.

Yep, that too. If we had last year's defense, we aren't even sniffing the playoff this year and both Georgia games are 30pt blowouts. We also lose to aggy this year with last year's defense.

Would be a shame to waste this defense. Especially in today's football where great defenses just aren't as common.

We realized a long time ago there's nothing we can do about it but complain on a message board.

Quinn is the guy.

Quinn would be the slowest guy on the field in the fucking 1930s.

Love that Quinn came here and because of that several recruits decided to come to Texas. He helped us turn a corner. But, I'm not sad to see him him go... either to the pros or another team.

I think it’s pretty evident that the Georgia Dline has our number in the trenches. They gotta figure that shit out because there was too many battles being lost for the supposed top 3 oline in the country. Wisner also isn’t the best back against this Georgia team. Auburn has to go. Period. But with all those negatives, there were throws in a game that Ewers needed to make in order to overcome the failures of the others. I’m talking about 3-5 throws. That is the difference in these close games.  If you’re not going to do it with your legs then you damn sure better be poised in the pocket and execute. The latter is significantly harder than the former. Ewers simply misses that consistently in his game. I got to agree with Brian Robison said on the OTF post game. It’s not necessarily what Ewers can do but what he does in the biggest moments. Turnovers suck no matter what but his are almost always in the most critical situations and doing it in a way that a 3rd year starter shouldn’t be doing.

Texas lost this game for several reasons but QE was way down the list if on it at all. I would go kicker twice before QE at minimum. Having said that, I haven't been here to see any other reactions. Just a statement.

Coming into tonight, Helm, Golden, Bolden, Wingo, Moore, and Bond had exactly three total games where they caught 100+ yards. Bond and Wingo both had over 100 yards against UTSA and Arch was the primary QB for that game, and Moore had over 100 against MSU when Arch was again the QB.

This is just fucking amazing.

I still believe had Texas just run ZR with Arch the entire 1st OT, we would have scored a TD.

Why the fuck was Texas settling for FGs, because our QB loses his shit way too often?

We had 1st and 10 at the 39 after a huge punt return and 15 yard penalty, and after one 1st down, Quinn shit all over himself including taking a sack on 3rd down, making us settle for a 51 yard FG which we know is outside the range of our kicker.

Like I said QEDS might be an issue with some but by all means, continue the narrative if you wish.

Quinn is mid.  His football IQ is avg and he doesn't have it to carry the team when needed.  I appreciate all he has done but he has reached his limit.
